I love the way he portrays what a true Muslim should be like, which is by following the commandments of Allah and the sunnah (way) of the Prophet Mohammad. That's why Omar always quotes the Quran. Faith has to be derived from the true message of the religion that "God" has chosen for his creatures. and that religion is without a question is Islam. it's the only teaching that is complete and answers all questions and concerns without hesitation or human interpretation.

The first human rights doctrine was Shariah Law at the time there was no other law that protected women, slaves and prisoners. Shariah law was the first law to give women rights over inheritance, land ownership, protection from infanticide, marriage. It also protected slaves and set up the rules of war and how to treat POW!!

But in the Roman Empire and in the Persian Empire, women already had more rights and freedoms. These are the two high cultures that Islam conquered from the Arabian Peninsula.
Apart from that, even the Sunnah says that the Prophet's first wife, Kadijah, was heir to a caravansary, and she was the boss and the Prophet was her clerk.
This shows that women could achieve something BEFORE Islam arrived.
Another thing that many people in the West do not know: Islamic culture has built the most long-lived and widely distributed slave trade system.
Take a look at the transport routes, where most slaves were brought over the Middle Ages: it was the Islamic caliphates. In Europe it was the highly acclaimed Al-Andalus.
Islam was the only culture in world history that created manuals for slave-buying. They were divided into ethnic groups and assigned their characteristics.
Slavery was religiously legitimized, the Quran allows it, and the Prophet himself had female slaves (Maria the Copt).
From the 16th century, the West has enormously driven the African slave trade, but they bought their slaves from Arab and African traders. The trading structures were already present for centuries before.
Western slavery and colonialism were a big crime, but colonialists have finally abolished slavery in Islamic countries and on the African continent. This has prevailed above all Britain, and partly France and the Netherlands, and at sea, the American fleet was involved in the suppression of the slave trade.

Omar Mohamed you will find this in Humanities classes as well. My professor was big follower of Jimmy. And he also reflect or pointed as such as it was different altogether. But slowly, intellectuals as them, are trying to learn and then they might say it’s also a monotheistic faith.

Omar is such an educated and eloquent speaker, and he knows exactly how to articulate his thoughts which are derived from his belief in Allah in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Mohammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. I love the way he portrays what a true Muslim should be like, which is by following the commandments of Allah and the sunnah (way) of the Prophet Mohammad. That's why Omar always quotes the Quran. Faith has to be derived from the true message of the religion that "God" has chosen for his creatures. and that religion is without a question is Islam. it's the only teaching that is complete and answers all questions and concerns without hesitation or human interpretation.
I am not sure why president Carter seemed to be avoiding the word "muslims" and used the word "others" instead. Happened more than once.!
