You made me cry at 9:46 . It was our exact journey back then and my exact feelings : what is life going to be for us without children ? I have endometriosis and could not get pregnant for the past 6years. We’ve been through IVF, treatments, etc. It’s finally when we decided to take a break from all of this and embrace the idea of life as a childless couple that the miracle happened. I’m due on February the 29th. I feel you exactly through and through. I am sincerely happy for you both. So much baby knits to do now !!

We finally had our daughter almost 5 years after we got married. I was 34 then ) We prayed a lot as I not only wanted a baby, but also a change of my attitude. I had always feared to have children, I thought I wouldn’t be able to bear maternity. But it turned out to be the greatest happiness of my life 🥰 We are currently expecting our second daughter. And it seems that we are having our babies at around the same time - end of February, beginning of March ))

I love that sweater from last spring-it’s very cheerful.
I’d like to share that when I was young like you I dreaded that question about having children as it just wasn’t meant to be for us. Once we were at a party and I worn an oversized padded shoulder outfit and a person ran up to me declaring, oh you are finally having a baby”- I thought I was going to go hysterical and ruin the party. Needless to say I didn’t wear that outfit again. I’m in my 70’s now and married forever and the question I get now is, WHY didn’t you have children? Wow-it never ends. Even though we have a nice life and marriage that question still gives me pause and I want to cry as we are alone. But to your point folks need to be mindful of questions regarding A woman’s parenthood status. I never ask those questions no matter if a woman is 18 or 80. As woman we need to be more careful of other woman’s feelings.
You guys will be great parents and I can’t wait to see all the tiny people knits.

OMG, congratulations!!!!! I liked your reflections on how personal it is to ask someone when they are having kids or why they don't have any (or even why they are having kids), because we never know the person's situation. Sometimes we just do not understand until we go through a situation ourselves. May you and your baby remain healthy on this journey!

You’ve calmed and inspired me, and also your happiness is infectious - genuinely, thank you very much ❤ I struggle a lot at the moment with some mental health things and feeling my own happiness can be hard, so it’s been a delight to ‘borrow’ yours and I hope to carry it through the rest of my day 🤍🤍

I feel you ❤ It took me 7 years and a change of partner to have my first baby (5 unsuccessful IVF with my ex and a miracle baby naturally with my new partner) ❤ I had my daughter at almost 37 and my son at 43 as we weren’t as lucky the second time around maybe because I was older. But I had this second miracle baby and feel grateful to have these 2 amazing human beings in our life ❤️ Parenthood is amazing and challenging at the same time but kids grow very quickly so you have to remember to enjoy and embrace every moment ❤️🙏☺️ And when it’s hard, remember that it will pass ❤️🫶 I’m knitting your Darling cardigan right now and sending you love from California ❤️

Do not fear becoming a Mom. Nobody was borned to be one. Every body learns to be a parent on the way. Being tired is normal, the baby needs lots of energy to grow and You have to accept it. It will be better just do not stress yourself. Remember everything You go through emotionally gets to your babe an hour later, and will feal your fears, your happyness, your stress as well. Have little conversations with your child make a routine for it and in your mind make sure everything will be okay. You are okay You both are okay. Once You hold your baby You will know. I was 39 when I had to let go of my wish to become a mother. My body is just not tolerating to have a baby due to health issues. Guess it was not written in my book. The biggest pain was always to feel that there were those small changes week by week and then nothing. But You made it. And I am so glad for You. That child will go to the best place possible. ❤❤❤❤

❤❤ Sending love and good thoughts. All of your feelings are so real and I completely understand it. I had a lot of issues getting pregnant. Not being able to get pregnant caused my first marriage to end. In the end it took me 10 years to have my son. The roller coaster of emotions during pregnancy and after having him were so much. Having my son even caused me to change my career path to online marketing and advertising. You are among friends and I hope everything goes well.

Dear Kika, they make snaps on tape that you sew to the inseam of infant pants/ fabric or knitted or crochet- and they allow access for nappy/diaper changes. Please buy some. You will be happy on cold nights when you don’t have to strip the baby for changes. I knit tons of infant & toddler designs and adding that tape is such a winner- no button holes and no individual snaps to sew! Can’t wait for your baby!

Congratulations to you! As someone who cannot believe that my "babies" are now adults, may I share my knitting advice? (1) don't make anything newborn size. Babies grow so fast. (2) You may want to donate some of your baby knits once your baby outgrows them, but keep one or two. They do grow up fast. Keeping a couple of the best things I made for my babies gives me great joy when I look at them. And thank you so much for your videos, which truly communicate the joy of knitting.

KiKa, we waited 5 years with our first and another 5 years for our second. All I like to say is, try to get into a routine with your baby. It will make life easier for all of you.
The first few weeks may be a bit of a challenge especially when your hormones have to adjust and find a new equilibrium. Thankfully you have your husband at your side to help and support you through all that.
Many knitters are women who understand the emotional rollercoaster you go through and won't have the same high expectations and standard you set for yourself.
It's Kika's time; time for you and your growing family. Enjoy it ❤

In my experience, they sleep all the time when they're newborns, especially if you're holding them. I started crocheting a lot, I started making doilies when he was 2 months old. Because with knitting he could wake up suddenly and knock the loops off my needles or a toddler could grab the needles. Now I knit when I'm on a stool😀 or the baby is busy and crochet usually when I'm holding him, sometimes I knit :)

My husband and I tried for 3 years. After many heartbreaks, and coming to the realization that we may be childless, I had to give it to God.
About 6 months later, I had all the classic pregnancy symptoms, and I was still in denial (maybe I didn't want to deal with the heartbreak again?) I finally took a pregnancy test and come to find out I was 6 weeks pregnant. Now, we have a healthy, beautiful 6 year old girl.

We were so blessed to get pregnant with our first baby as soon as one month after we decided to start a family. But our second baby was a long waiting one. ... By now he is 11 years old, and we are far past of waiting. But recently we had an accident which may had lead to a third baby, which we didn't really planned or wanted, and I am over 40yo now, so not really a time for a new baby, but what a HUGE disappointment it was for me and my husband when we saw this test saying not pregnant. ... I am so so happy for both of you and wish you all the happiness and strength in your new journey. Looking forward to meet your new beautiful cute little "project" modelling all your new knitting ideas ♡♡♡
Ps: by the way, your last video I was watching before this one was about 2 months ago, the one with a pie incident, i had a thought you might be pregnant. I am not a witch (as my hubby calls me), but in past 18 years I noticed that I can feel women pregnant before they reveal the news 😊 i am so glad/freaked/shocked to know my intuition was right again 😆 is it a time to open a future telling booth? 🤣

Love watching your videos on this journey, it brings back all the memories when I got pregnant. I’ve had 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. They are all married now and I have a Granddaughter. I can’t believe it, the time went by so fast and I enjoyed every minute (maybe not teenagers LOL!!). Love watching your videos and all the knitting content. Excited about seeing new patterns but when the baby comes, take time and rest and don’t worry about the business, it will all work out. The good thing about being self employed you can work whenever time permits. Enjoy this amazing time in your life.

I feel like I am reliving my situation. You inspire me to maybe record video about my journey. I actually started my channel because I was told I may not have children and after sepsis. After 6 years of marriage we decided to try to have children. Long story short it took us additional 10 years. Therefore after 16 years of marriage I got pregnant at the age of 39. I am expecting our second child now and it looks that I will have two while I am still 40 :) It was so hard during these 10 years but most of close people just thought that we don't want to have children that is why we don't have them. I even got not a nice message from old high school that I should focus to have family than having a career(?) anyway. I can laugh at it now as things turned out amazing but it was tough. I took something that was not related to 'get pregnant' and in 1.5 month after I was pregnant. That was a miracle for me.

Oh, I'll follow Yukke's bags. They're beautiful! I love your colors. So waiting for the sweater you wore at the airport. It's gorgeous. Someone told me that when I was pregnant to eat as soon as you got up to help because the nausea hit more on an empty stomach. Everything is such a blessing. Your furbabies know and I bet they're just as excited. Congrats again, and stay well, rest. We'll all be here when you feel you're ready to come back from maternity leave. No stress at all. All the best! Kimberly

Dear Kika, I’m happy for you. I know how hard it can be to get questions about having children from people. We got our son, and 10 years later our daughter and in between I had nine miscarriages around 10 weeks pregnancy. After our daughter was born I got diagnosed with a rare disease, that explained the miscarriages. But all the questions about when is the second child coming were no fun. I wish you all the best!

Thank you for sharing your journey into parenthood. You're so right; people don't realise how intrusive some questions can be unless they've been in the situation themselves.
Please enjoy every moment as it all goes so quickly! My little one is 8 months old and it seems like only yesterday I found out I was pregnant.
Babies don't stay little for very long, so don't feel guilty about taking time off to focus on yourself, your new baby and becoming a family of 3 ❤ No one will thank you for rushing back to work too quickly.
Sending lots of love and happy vibes xxxx

Sending love to you both. I can remember so many of those feelings, the tiredness and the queasyness - I had afternoon sickness, rather than morning sickness, but medication helped with that. My son is now 11 and I can remember feeling like I could only take it a little bit at a time with him, just one scan at a time to see how he progressed, as I had a loss both before and after he was born.

I was so tired in the first half of my pregnancy but that passed and then happy hormones kicked in and I felt so happy and energetic. Just give up any preconceived ideas ofhow you should be feeling. Every body is different. SPOIL YOURSELF IS MY MAIN TIP. XXX

as a society we dont give enough room to talk about the journey of becoming pregnant and the hardship it can be.
so when we hear someone is pregnant it always feels like: 'surprise!', and too often we don't understand the way someone had to take to get there.

Thank you for your beautiful video and that you share your experiences and feelings with us. I became pregnant when I was 38 and it was the only and last chance to become pregnant. My partner lived in Thailand while I was living in Germany. But it worked well and now our son is 6 already. I remember all the feelings and fear but be sure you will be a great mom. ❤
