Thank you. Tried 5 other videos and two hours later I find your video actually that tells me where to put the power cable!! I get to play MArio for the first time in 25 years!!!
What a stupid comment why don't you include where you put the cables to helps everyone. Your the type of person that leave a review on Google of a restaurant but doesn't say the most important thing which is what did you pay
Just FYI you don’t need the converter. The Green port on the tv shows Y / Video for a reason. It is a component/RCA in one port. You put yellow in green port, and audio as normal and tv will detect if it’s rca or component connection
Finally a very smart person. 🤝 I been trying to tell all this people you don't need an adapter 🤦🤣🤣🤣 they just see colors but don't even know what they mean. This setup works in any smart TV I play Nintendo 64 in any of my 2021 TVs with NO adapter
i'm pretty certain that the "Y" marking on the green colored input of a component does not mean yellow. you have the green one marked y, a red one marked pr, and a blue one marked pb. all the ones i've had if you plug the yellow composite a/v cable into the green, you'll get black and white pic. the tvs that are made to use the composite yellow vid cable with the tv's component jacks will have split color on the jack. it'll be marked with both green and yellow on the same jack. these are designed to be used as either composite or component.
Y is the symbol for Luma. If you see a mini DIN on some devices labeled "Y/C" That's for separated or S-Video. The same goes for the back of some Commodore video monitors. There's a Y for the luma (strictly greyscale) video and a C (for Chroma) to define the colours. Y/Pb/Pr or component divides the chroma into two for blue and red colours. Your TV you may have to go through the setup menu to reconfigure the composite video as it may only appear as black and white by default. Other TVs it probably does this automatically.
Thanks for your short, get to the point video. I disconnected the X Box and than when it was time to reconnect the X Box I struggled with those color coded cables, thanks to you I was able to reconnect again.
The brand he is talking about is the Wal Mart store brand "onn". I looked up this video because im having the exact same problem. I cant believe its so expensive and it doesnt even work for the older consoles. It only works with DVD players
For people who don’t have adapters or converters: TRY THIS ----> Step 1. Plug the Red wire in the Red Audio port Step 2. Plug the white wire in the white audio port. Step 3. Look for the port that says “Y” on top, it’s usually green. Step 4. Plug you yellow wire into the “Y” port. NOTE: If this doesn’t work, try to plug the yellow wire in the blue or red port until you get a picture on either of those. This works on 85% of new TVs when connecting old consoles. My son just bought an original Xbox, and there was literally no info. Except to buy an adapter. So I just figured this out on my own. Let me know how it goes. Take care.
@@kevinvillalobos2475 if your tv has it, it would be in your settings. on mine it's always been hidden, but it would say something like "composite" to "component". but it depends on the tv
The system I bought only has a yellow (video) and white (audio) cord. I plugged the video in and the audio into the L or R audio ports. The video is coming through but no audio. Is it necessary to have both ports for the audio to work?
Check your tv first before buying this kind of converter device. Your tv is “component in” only hence you need converter. my lg tv is “component in /av in” combo. In this case sticking yellow cable to green slot works just fine for me.
But the problem with that box is that it doesn’t support 240p which majority of old games like PS1 games are :( TV keeps having a flickering screen fit when I install this Box
Thank you so much for this video. After watching your video i just put my av cord in my tv and got my Merkury Innovations Arcade Fun Portable Gaming Console to play for my daughter on our TV i put the yellow in the green and red in the R and it worked.
I have an av splitter so I can switch between any of my 7 consoles. If I were to plug it into this would it still work you think? I recently got a new tv and my ps2 only shows in black and white although my other systems seem ok
You didn't show at all what you need to connect into the back of the gamecube. Does something go into the AV slot or Digital slot? My gamecube is powering on but no image showing on the screen i've tried lots of different wires and adapters in the AV slot. I don't have anything that fits into the digital alot though, my TV even has the red white yellow slots in the back, i'm so confused.
I know this is a year later, and perhaps too late, but are you sure that there isn’t anything you need to adjust on the TV to convert the component Y inputti standard composite? It seems weird that it would label it “Y/video” if it didn’t have that feature. There must be something to let the TV know, because a Y Luma signal for component is much different than the composite signal, so I’m guessing there must be something in the TV’s menu to adjust what signal to expect for the input.
The component input is also a composite input because it says "color stream HD/video in". I know that because I have a Samsung TV. You will need to select "AV" on the TV input.
Try putting the yellow into all of THEM first and make sure your tv is on AV.Red and white in normal spots. It worked for me and I am elated I didn't have to buy that converter hopefully u won't have to either.

I have the exact same converter and the signal to the tv is a solid blue. The tv can still communicate with the DVD player I’m using, through tests you can do that turn off the device through the tv’s signal. So the video signal is shot. “Y” is for “Gamma”, a greek letter which in lowercase looks very similar: “γ”. It denotes the luminosity signal - the black-and-white picture. The other two channels, chromatic red and chromatic blue, convey the color information. To learn more, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YCbCr

I'm having the same issues for my ps2 and xbox360 0cnsoles.... no sound. I tried using my hdmi cable for my blue ray player on the xbox 360 and it does work for video, but no sound. It's useless for the ps2 as there is ho hdmi port on the ps2 to hook into and add on my dang 24 inch smart tv does not have the audio/video ports to plug the av cables into. I have an input/output adapter that can hook up to 3 devices but the issue with that is, i need a cable with one end having the av cables to plug into the back of it, and the other ned needing to look like an hdmi cable to plug into the hdmi port on the back of the tv and i don't know where to get one of those. The adapter only came with a cable that has av plugs on both ends. HELP!!!!

I only have an ant in for sega. But i only have a old sharp flatscreen monitor. Which hdmi do i need to get to be able to play?
Hi! From what I can see on that TV back, it's basically the same as mine (hence no audio output at all to connect to an audio system). Have you had that issue too by chance? If so, did you find any solution? That's so annoying. Thanks in advance!
I did the same thing but only getting the blue screen showing 1080p and no signal
You solved my issue of the day...
I am looking for avi to convert Nintendo wii to a 4 k tv. I can only find 1080. When I connect the avi cables directly to the 4K tv the screen shows in black and white. Is there a solution?
