    Wow, I thought it wouldn't work. I don't have a dedicated theatre room, I'm renting.
    With that said, this cable would be great im my use case scenario because it's soon thin and I can route and hide it easier.

      @@GeorgeTheaterAtHome It's OK, I'm used to it.
      I bought Betamax over VHS. Then Betamax went out and I bought a very expensive Zenith VHS, with stereo! Future proofing of course.
      Then of course there never was any stereo content for VHS, then VHS went out for compact disc. It doesn't stop there.
      Anybody want to buy an expensive but lightly used CD player? 🤣

      Oh, I was going to ask @GeorgeTheaterAtHome do you notice a big separation and balance difference between your larger theater, and how sounds presents in your smaller room you just did the series on? My room will be thinner at 12' wide so I am a bit concerned about the outside seats being too close to each respective side surround speaker. It is what it is, but just curious how much that really impacts the experience. Thoughts?

    • @GeorgeTheaterAtHome
      @GeorgeTheaterAtHome  9 часов назад +1

      With a room 12’ wide, I would limit your seating to only two seats wide. If you try to put 3 seats on the same row, you will run into issues of being too close to the Side speakers. But if it’s only 2 seats side-by-side then you should be good. Good luck with your project, sounds like a fun one!

Who’d have thought we’d have a toslink-like hdmi cable? Truly digital. Im running the Optoma UHZ65 and have had issues with my 25 foot hdmi cable wigging out every once in a a while. I’ve had this projector for almost six years now and am very happy with it. I’ll bet it would really shine with a Ruipro cable. Funny, I just bought a similar-looking UFO fiber cable for my sister when she moved this month 😆.

  • @Saturn2888
    @Saturn2888 42 минуты назад

    8K-capable means nothing btw. Makes it sound like you don't know what you're talking about. 8K up to 30Hz (24Hz is needed for movies) can be done today on HDMI 2.0 with 4:2:0 chroma sampling at 8-bit color (SDR).
    What you wanna look at are the bandwidth numbers. How much bandwidth does the fiber cable support? The LC fiber I use for my Ethernet is rated for up to 100Gb, but I use it at 25Gb max. I figure if I wanna upgrade in the future, I won't have to replace the fiber, but that's because the fiber cable is rated at a fast speed.
    If the fiber is only rated for 48Gbps like you said, that's the max spec of HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.2 is 96Gbps, so this cable would need to be replaced. That's my point. I'm not sure the max specification.
    If I'm correct, this UFO cable comes from Celerity. If the fiber goes up to 1000ft, it might be rated only for 48Gbps. My OM4 LC fiber can do 328ft (100 meters) at 100Gb (about the speed of HDMI 2.2). But OM4 is also used as multimode fiber, which reduces the distance you can go. If the transcievers have lower nanometer light, then they can go even farther!
    I don't really know what I'm talking about with fiber other than the fact that I've done some runs at home and use Fiber for DisplayPort to my Valve Index headset and HDMI for my PC.

I'm looking to upgrade my projector in the theater room (Panasonic 1080p circa 2009) to a Epson 5050/6050/11000/12000 this winter (the only time you can get in the attic in Texas) and this new cable will come in handy as I have to replace the 25 foot HDMI 1.3a cable that is currently run in the wall. This looks like the perfect solution. (Winning the giveaway, even better). This helped give me direction in my research.
    Another question is why couldn't you use the dedicated HDMI Optical USB input that was on your projector for these types of cables? Was the connection different? Did it not provide enough power?

    I have been into Audio Video since I was 7 years old. Taking apart mono radios and adding additional speaker for '' Fake Stereo " I'm now 66 and still enthused over anything pertaining to this subject! I built my Home Theater recently and am having a problem with my projector signal going in and out. I already know its the length of the HDMI cable. My Theater room is 20 ft. wide by 45 ft long so my HDMI cable is about 30 ft long. I have a Denon Avr and my Samsung TV is Input 1 and my BenQ projector is Input 2. No problem with the Samsung TV as the HDMI is only 6 ft. long. But when I switch over to the BenQ signal goes in and out. This cable would really rid me of this problem I feel. Thanks!!

      Sounds like a long run! This cable could really help you solve that problem.

    That should be standard for all cables

    Those don’t look like standard fiber termination ends though. Thats what would bug me about this specific kit

      They are standard fiber MTP connectors

    This video has answered a question that's been nagging at me for a fair minute now.
    I've just recently decided to try my hand at making a cinema room for my home, (got in on the Kickstarter action for a Valerion Vision Master Max), & I've been wondering what the best means of connecting to it would be, once it was mounted on my ceiling.
    I figured there might be issues attempting to run an HDMI cable beyond a certain length, but wasn't sure what other options would work given the port selection available.
    Suffice to say, problem solved.💯🥳
    Absolutely in it to get my hands on one of those fiber-optic cables. Fingers crossed.🤞

    I love almost everything about this EXCEPT the physical fiber connection. It's been a few years since I worked in data centers but I've NEVER seen that connector. Other than SFP, SFP+, etc. the most common connector I'm aware of is LC. Going WAY back, we would have seen SC, ST, FDDI, etc. Am I just out of touch or is that physical connector basically locking you into RUIPRO products in the future?

      The MTP fiber connector is currently used in many applications, including data centers.

    I have like 15ft from my cheap projector to my soundbar, so this would be perfect to tidy things up, especially when I will be updating to a 4k60 projector soon! Yeah im outside the USA unfortunately, but thanks for the tips!

    If I had an existing fiber cable run would there be a way for this to work with that?

      You could replace your existing fiber hdmi cable with this one. You could also use your existing fiber cable with the Ruipro HDMI ends as long as your fiber has the MTP connectors on each end.

    Just moved and I’m building out my theater again. This would be nice to not have to re fish HDMI cables in the future.

    We're not gonna need to worry about hdmi 2.2 for years. Atleast that's what I tell myself staring at thousands of dollars worth of hdmi cables 😂 idc if they're not better they look awesome. Bed o snakes behind my equipment. This is a great idea tho...thanks dude
