Great idea! I will have to pass it on to a couple of friends that attend our show. After I come back from the first day I can barely talk or hear. I am certainly going to make a few. Thanks!
Thanks Sam for your reply, I just wanted to have a second opinion as although I am an accomplished machinist with fifty years experience I am always learning something new from your video clips!! Keep it up:-))

Sam I must say you did a great job, but I was under the impression that when you restore an engine you try to keep it as original as possible and the muffler ( Here in Malta we call it silencer) is part of it.So when I have to make a muffler for an engine I try to do it the same design as the original. In fact I do have an International M myself and the muffler was missing. I got an original from a friend and copied it!!!!
,,, yes I agree with you, if an original could not be found,, on a restored engine you would use an exact copy,,,, as this is "not" a restored engine I decided to take what I call,, artistic liberty,, sounds a little more of a mellow tone as compared to the original, be it a hit and miss or a throttle governor engine,,, sounds good,
how will you burn valves with too much back pressure? not possible. only way you can burn valves is by running lean. ever had a clogged catalytic converter? too much back pressure will simply cause pumping loss. basically, the engine will work harder because it's trying to push exhaust gas against itself. at the same time trying to pull fresh air in. you'll have shortly accelerating problems and maybe not start.
It's amazing how just pulling two magnets apart on these motors makes enough spark to fire the sparkplug.Simple, like you said!
What a simple but effective muffler..thanks Sam

I have always used the pink or yellow pipe fiber glass insulation on my home made glass packs or some steel wool.
That makes it run better for sure.

Sam, 1/8th inch enough for that drain-hole on the bottom of the glass-pack pipe?
Thanks for the videos!
Dave
That's impressive, but, did you use dry fibreglass or coat it in resin? You mentioned it but I didn't see you use any resin!
