  • The G37 will be getting some love in the coming weeks! Decided to do an oil change tonight to prepare for modifications so I figured I would make a tutorial for those looking to start doing their own oil changes. Hope this helps! Please comment any questions you may have. Please like, comment and subscribe! Stay tuned for some Infiniti fun!

    I have a 2009 G37. It looks like you have a slightly different year you are working on. Can I expect the engine to be essentially the same with regard to how, for example, I reach the throttle bodies?

    Hey Alex I love your videos I actually have the same car. Would you recommend changing the transmission fluid using the ramps, like the one you have in this video? Or have the car level?

    Hey Alex, thank you for all your videos I learned lot from watching you, I got a 2013 g37s last year with 30,000 miles , lately the weather it’s been hot and dry here in LA, I start hearing a light engine knock when accelerating, I was wondering if you have experienced any noise like that . I use 97 octane gas only

    Hey Alex great video!
    Did you replace the crush seal that goes around the oil drain bolt?

    • @kova_motive
      @kova_motive  7 лет назад

      I didn't replace it. I usually never replace them on any of my cars and never had an issue. I only replace them if they look really worn out...haven't had a problem yet. Thanks for watching!

    Where did you get your fog light bulbs at? Led or HID?

    • @kova_motive
      @kova_motive  6 лет назад +1

      I hate to say it but I got them from ebay. They were honestly about 5 bucks, they're LEDs. Almost a year later and still working just fine.

    hey, i know this is not related to the video, but i have the same car as yours. Is there any chance you have a scanner? if so, can you check to see at what temperature the cooling fans turn on and off, without A/C of course. My car cooling fans turn on around 215F and turn off around 203F. I don't know if that is normal temperatures or not, it would be great if you can check it. Cheers.

      Unfortunately, I don't have a tool to check that. I will be buying an EcuTek cable which will allow me to view those parameters. Once I do that, I can check. Sorry I can't help now!

    I used to love Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Ultra for VQ engines, until I noticed both my VQ cars starts to develop an oil weep by the camshaft cover. The EX35 has 80k miles and had developed the dreaded Rear timing chain cover oil leak($3000 warranty work) . The Q40 only has 7k miles and and had the camshaft oil weep.
    Last year I switched back to Mobile 1 .
    Mobile 1 High mileage Synthetic for the EX35 and Mobile 1 synthetic for the Q40. I think the VQ hates Pennzoil oil.
    I will never go back using Pennzoil for the VQ engine!

      Different brands have slightly different additives and most consumer "synthetic" oils aren't actually 100% synthetic. I usually get what is on sale at the time and that has worked so far. I only use Amsoil in my Z but its a bit expensive to run in my daily.

    • @DacAL_8
      @DacAL_8 7 лет назад +1

      AlexKayRN Yeah! Amzoil is a bit expensive! Wally World is my friend, so I just get the Mobile 1. =)

      AWGD8 Very true. I usually pick up my oil from there too. Usually the cheapest.

      Took a car class back in highschool. Teacher showed us a sludged up engine he said was from using Pennzoil. Never trusted the brand since haha. Mobil 1 or Royal purple is best in my opinion.

    HI Alex, why don’t you use the larger filter PL14610 or recommend it for people who chose to do a longer
    drain interval? It is about 1/2 longer and costs the same or less. If one buys the 15,000 mile upgraded
    BOSS filter with the 100% synthetic media they can skip one filter change and just do the oil change. It has a 27g of dirt holding capacity at 99%+ compared to the 15g of the 10,000 mile semi synthetic filter material of the PL filter you used. I would also purchase a magnetic drain plug from ebay for cheap. You could
    theoretically do 3 or 4 oil changes changing at 3,000 mile intervals. Just saying... I really enjoy your helpful videos as I recently bought a 2012 G37S auto. Thank you for your insights and well made videos.

      Because most people just use the filter size that's recommended for their car. And if you change the oil might as well change the filter

  • @gex8297
    @gex8297 6 лет назад +1

    What type of oil do you use?? Viscosity ? Do you change the oil filter every time too?

  • @rclarkrep100

    Could not agree with you more on changing oil at 3000. I try to do same. I look at color of oil and here in Florida as I idle alot in pasking lots and drive locally, 2500 sometimes becomes necessary. Thanks for video. Nice job! Also go RAYS! I saw the Yankee hat.
