It's a remnant of biblical thinking based on fear and punishment. What he actually said, in layman's terms, is that if you help a witch out, it will be returned threefold, meaning to aid a witch is to receive thanks three times over. He was not referring to the laws of witchcraft at all. The threefold law to me is basically an over elaboration of the wiccan rede, just to keep us all in check. It has no scientific basis according to the laws of magic for me.

Thanks a lot, Arrowverse, I'm very glad you like my videos... As this video states, witches are almost always portrayed very inaccurately by the media. But they do indeed still exist. I've heard that the religion has recently been growing (more people are joining). I am not a witch, but if you're interested in learning more about real witchcraft, this lady recommends a web site at around 8:17 of this video...
