      Still kinda hard to believe: when someone lives that long and has such a huge presence, not just in the UK but all over the world...you can tend to see them as a fixture in the world. The loss of the Queen feels huge, the end of a generation and an era.

    The Queen looked so healthy here. I would never have believed that less than 9 months later she would be dead. Comparing this to her last photo that was taken, she looked so frail. The world she was born into, the people she met, the events she witnessed, the changes she’s lived through - and her iconic image and presence woven into the fabric of our world …. Has there ever been a woman or leader like her??? Utterly irreplaceable and symbol of something we’ve lost. Beyond a monarch - a time, an identity and a belief in ourselves. A stoicism, resilience and character so absolutely British., I fear we shall never see her like again.

    • @RoxanneLavender
      @RoxanneLavender Год назад +2

      We definitely wont see her like again. Our elders are leaving us, and i think we never realized that they were our strength and our true teachers. What will we do without them? They built bomb shelters and rationed, they grew their own food, fixed what was broken, they did what was needed to be done. We do just whine about stuff on the internet and wait for someone else to fix all the problems, wait for someone else to think about how to fix the problems. I'm a Millennial, and i miss our elders. We're in a long period of mourning as the last of them leave us.

I'm not saying I took her for granted (again, I'm not even British or part of the Commonwealth, but I don't think one needs to be when it comes to the queen...she impacted the entire WORLD while she was here), however when I learned of her death I broke down and cried. The shock of her not " being there" all the time hit me hard. Idk why really, but I've always admired the queen and her work. It's like losing part of one's "security" in a way. As a Saudi I do respect the British culture and it’s monarchy. I still remember the times I spent in the UK starting from Oxford the place where I learnt my English and Kingston upon Thames and it’s university where I had my master degree at!
    Merry Christmas to all the Christians around the world and a special gift for the original English people as well as those who have been given a chance to be British and they deserve it !

    I dont think the Queen has ever made such personal reference to her life like this before making it very relatable to everyone -there really is the message of hope and better days for us all . Even if people don’t like Royalty there is something constant and reassuring of having the Queen may she keep healthy to be around for a fair while yet next year will be the biggest jubilee ever seen ! She certainly has lost weight though she could have done with a slight shoulder pad to fill her out otherwise she looks beautiful!!!!!

      @@tee981 While I agree, Biden is an idiot, our Queens speech isn’t just ours. I’m glad Americans appreciate her as much as brits do, it shows how magical royalty is! I’m sure the Queen is thankful for anybody who takes the time to watch her speech, British or not. It’s incredibly un-British of you to tell someone, from an allied country, that they cannot watch. America & the UK have an incredible bond, only strengthened by those who support our monarchy. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Shame on you for saying such a horrid thing, and being quite honestly nothing more than a bully (not to mention incredibly rude to Mr Biden as well.).
