I was doing great with it this summer as well. I also added a cone weight and a skirt above it on the line/hook and it gave it more flair worked pretty awesome both ways.
you bet! he's pitching it, talking about all the action in the NUB/amputee (for lack of a better term), it's falling in crystal clear water from the surface to the bottom and that nub didn't move, didn't quiver, was totally scared of getting bit! This is where you can tell the difference between Gary Yamamoto and his successor! Everything will get you a bite now and then if you persist. Not his fault. I'll stick with tried & true 4 season bait - the twin tail hula grub, thanks.
It’s a great bait but I was going through way too many of them. The hook rips through the top of the plastic after just one or two fish. I tried an Owner screwlock hook (the weightless one) last time and the screwlock ripped out after just one fish. I guess they have to be soft to have such great action but just one bass per plastic seems a bit too expensive to me.
I find this with all of the Yamamoto baits. I keep a giant zip loc bag where I put the used and damaged ones in. Once or twice a season I go through the bag with some crazy glue gel and repair the baits. Helps me get a little more use out of them.
That’s a good idea! I always keep some Gel control super glue for glueing soft plastics to jigheads. I also have mend-it for my expensive soft swimbaits. I’m going to give repairing them a try!
there must be controversy about which hook is best. Am I crazy, but this video says and shows a straight shank, round bend, offset hook many times throughout the video but in their verbal descriptions of tackle used and recommended they list the Hayabusa WRM 959 wide Gap Offset Heavy Duty Hook which is a wide Gap style hook (more like an EWG than a round bend hook spoken and pictured).
I am a riverbank fisherman here in Fredericton New Brunswick. Would these new baits work in river current without any weight to catch smallmouth. I have used softbaits without any weight in current that moving slow to medium speed. The Saint John River is tidal water from Fredericton to the Bay of Fundy
@Wired2Fish Your welcome. I will get some of them. I haven't been out fishing yet. Our fishing season opened up on April 15th and we had high flooding here for a couple of weeks. The rivers just right for smallmouth fishing
I’ve been struggling the past 2 weeks to catch anything on the Yamatanuki.. I’ve been getting plenty of bites but I can’t find the right hook. Owner, Gamakatsu, Mustad. All EWG hooks 4 or 5/0.
My favorite finesse bait by far, but the durability is trash. If zman would have made these I wouldn't have to buy 20 packs at a time because I've went through 6 packs in one day before because they hammer this thing. But it's a one fish and done lure, you might get lucky and get another shot but 98 percent of the time the bait is ruined after 1 fish.
"the little tail shimmys" while the video clearly proves no action, certainly not shimmy like a wacky rigged stickbait. Later he says it "quivers" which I don't see or believe. It is NOT "super natural" and it does NOT "mimic a craw or a bream" in any way. "When they grab it it just blows up in their mouth" - WTH does that mean? Lots of arbitrary made up BS that's supposed to sound great in order to sell a soft plastic blob. Lol. Is anyone falling for this crap? You can catch a bass with a chicken mcnugget for cryin' out loud.

Boom Boom!!!!….this new Yamamoto bait is hot right now.
Great video. There are always new lures, techniques.

Same with me keitech easy swimmer's. They catch fish but are not durable

@@vincentgelles3805careful with Mend-It on heavily salted baits...they don't seem to play well together.
But did it catch fish?
OUTSTANDING BAIT!

Thanks for the well done video! Much appreciated. What are your thoughts about using a screw lock swimbait hook?
I'd be curious as well
Definitely worth a try. @vincentgelles3805 provided some feedback about his screwlock experience above.
where are you fishing? This was posted 12 days ago and you're wearing a coat?

For sure, baits like weightless tubes and flukes work excellently, so we'd expect the same with this bait. Thanks for the idea.

Casts a mile and sinks awesome river bait
No widegap hook?
I was thinking EWG
Good to know!
I was thinking EWG not sure though
I tried an EWG it works great
But ummm I might go to twist lock because you aren’t getting many fish per bait maybe 2-2 1/2 if you lucky

What rod do you use??
Got mine on 4 Egw
@@anttt9050 7’4 Heavy Fast dobyns
Lunker City wide gap texposer hook....try those!
Use an Owner Twistlock hook and you will catch a lot more fish per bait
Did Yamamoto look at the Deps Cover Scat and try to mold their own version? Both seem to be fished the same way on a Texas rig.
You can fish pretty much any soft plastic the same way
I think a bass will bite anything that moves.
I dye the tail on them too n oowwwweee
This guy left Dobyns and went to sixgill I can never trust anything he says
😂😂😂😂
lol just work people gotta make a living to 😂
I don't care what SG offered me, they're rods and reels are garbage.
Not an EWG??? Ehhh...
👍🏼
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good for one or two fish tears and then you super glue them back or melt old plastic and repair them, pain in the ace.
Goofy looking bait but it catches fish! I wonder what the action would be like on a drop shot
Would probably be way too heavy for a dropshot

I agree it looks nothing like a crawdad 😂
I was thinking the same thing . They are trying to catch the fisherman on this one . I’ve seen it in person , and it looks like a TURD
Who gives a crap it catches fish I used it on Fri
Your the same kind of guy who shat on the senko for 2 years while everyone else was pounding on fish
