I wish it only had the band window. The barrel windows just make me think of a Lamy Safari (a fine pen, but I already have a few). If it only had the band window, i would instantly revise my pen budget to get the Skylight rather than the HS Dark Age that currently interests me. I love all the details you give in your reviews. I will use this as a reference when I am finally ready to buy!
I think they should leave out the barrel windows, or at least eliminate the bronze trim around them. I would like to see a version with the band window only, in a Steel Age trim. I've been waiting on an interesting new Homo Sapiens, but this one and the Magma aren't it.
Hi Dave. Enjoy your vids. I'm a recent fountain pen fan. Wondering if January Philly Pen Show is on your radar even if you don't attend. It will be my first show.
Hello David nice review as always I enjoy your channel a lot. I’ve always liked the big Bronze Age Homo sapiens and the forward ink window is great and solves the guessing game but the side windows really detract the appeal of the pen for me, they kind of dumb it down in my opinion. I’d would still have the old one before this one and regards the section soaking up ink when filling I’d smear the section with silicone grease then wipe it off straight away. That would form a barrier and this pen will absorb oil off your fingers anyway so I don’t reckon a tiny bit of silicone would mark it. The ink bottles are nice, remind me of a fancy vase but they look like they would easily knock over. The best ink bottles ever are the Akkerman bottles if the inky people would make wide based bottles that would be a great help and sell empty ones as well. I use small Bovril jars. 😜. They do work . Thanks again David you’re a Star. Best wishes to all PenPeople. LeZc @@
2:39 I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure this pen isn't handmade. It may be assembled by hand or have some small amount of hand work put into it but I really doubt it's handmade.
I hope the regular Bronze Age will follow this new model and use the engraved clip instead. Btw, do any one know how’s the new Visconti 18k extra fine nib compare to sailor 21k MF or pilot 14k F nib in terms of line width?
i was going to ask what is in your opinion the best brand in terms of writing experience ? and have you ever tried the sailor king eagle nib at any point in your life ? (what is your experience please share )
I’m surprised and perplexed at why Visconti is still putting out pens with the sloppy hook safe cap. It’s well talked about in reviews and in comments online so corporate must be aware. It’s a poor first impression to a wonderful pen.
I agree that the band window is a nice addition. You could have gone into the differences between the filling mechanisms a little more. The barrel window is UGLY!! I will not consider buying this model. Maybe in honor of the volcano; they could have made the barrel window round. The current window is way too large. If they made the barrel window round, they could have put a laser etched silhouette of Mount Aetna on the window. This design change might actually make the pen nice. Thanks for the video, I enjoy your work!
I like it better without the bronze-trim around the windows. I hope it's allowed to link the Michael Jecks' review from 12/2015 ruclips.net/video/6b4C6-TTurA/видео.html
07:50 Wow - this thing looks rough! The Hook Safe Lock has been ugly and frayed on basically every HS I ever saw - shame there is no improvement. And then the center band on this one... What's that black spot from above the A to I in "sapiens" - looks like there's already some serious wear-down on the silver coating of the band; and then, again, the edges of the center band - ugh! Aaaaand look at the blurred "S" to see how careless they must have been with filling the engraving... Unbelievably lousy performance on Visconti's side. I understand that this is not common resin and stuff, but for a pen at this price point, I don't see why it would have to look as sloppy and rough. No, no, no.

My thoughts are exactly the same
Indeed. Spoils the overall look and is unnecessary. You can check the overall ink level with the band window and valve open.
Exactly what I was thinking.
The only purpose of a budget is to revise.
This is my dream pen just underneath a Namiki Yukari. I think this pen is by far the most beautiful Homo Sapien varient.
I really like this design. It looks a bit steampunk in style, and I appreciate the ink window. Thank you for a wonderful review!
David. I always enjoy your content and uplifting attitude. Thank you for continually making content for us to watch and enjoy.
I also think that the band window would suffice.
Love this, i thought i wanted the the crystal dream until i found and watched your videos, now i want the skylight thanks
Thank you, David. The windows are nice. The barrel windows have a sense of an airship or some H.G. Wells construction.
I really appreciate your attention to detail in your reviews. Thank you so much!!
Thank you. I agree on your evaluation of the ink windows. Seems over thought. Once you add one (at the band) you add three (altogether)!
My absolute dream pen I absolutely love it
Another fine example of Italian beauty and craftmanship.
Wow, that review was really, really critical and detailed. And I thank you for that. For a such priced pen, that is how it should go.
Love the beard!!
One of these days I will get to see one of these in person. It will be a very long time before I am able to even think about buying one!
This pen of all Visconties really appeals to me with the windows on the barrel.

Curiously, they released exactly that in England. You can find a video on RUclips.
Is there any talks from visconti you know of that they will come out with a magma version and a possible release date?

Philly isn't on my schedule for this year...but have fun at the show!

Mount Etna is actually the largest and most active vulcano in all of Europe. It is 3345 meters high.

Do you really think this pen is worth an extra $170 for the ink windows which should have been included on the original in the first place?
I wouldn't necessarily say that they should have been included in the earlier models. I like the looks of the models without the windows as well.
i was going to ask what is in your opinion the best brand in terms of writing experience ? and have you ever tried the sailor king eagle nib at any point in your life ? (what is your experience please share )
I have tried a King Eagle nib. While it was nice, it was out of my price range of what I was willing to pay for a nib.
Figboot on Pens I hear the price goes way up and it’s rare ... btw what is your favorite pen brand in general ?
I have constant issues with ink on the grip section. Anyone experience this and have a way to fix it?
Your beard is good.
The barrel window reminds me of diving bells from another time... I really like the look of the pen. They should make its name shorter though.
Looks beautiful but not a fan of the two-tone bans.

Good review, beautiful pen, but stupid crazy expensive!
Basaltic - bah-salt-ick
not balsatic (rhyming with balsamic)
