  • In this video I'll show you a really simple and quick way to make a prong setting for your faceted gemstones only using one square wire!
    I show you how I make a pendant and earring set using the same technique.

    This is a very clever way to make a bezel frame for a faceted stone with a pointed bottom. The point sits in the space and the light comes through for the shine. I really like this setting. Very smart. The set looks lovely. Can't wait to make one. Thank you, Melissa! You are such an artist.
    Interesting that you put them in the tumbler for an hour, stones and all. This is a great way to harden the wires, and answered my question about whether stones would get damaged in a tumbler - obviously not. Great bit of info!

    Thank you for this tutorial. I needed to set a faceted stone and am a bit out of practice so I watched a few tutorials and this one was by far, the easiest to follow. I literally spent 8 hours trying to do it before watching. Then, I tried your technique and got it on the first try. THANK YOU!!!

    I cannot wait to try this. I have saved tanzinite and alexandrite I have in my safe, I purchased them almost 20 yrs ago. I really like the pendant and will use them for that

    Thank you for this video! I know that a lot of jewelry makers will claim that the settings are nickel or lead-free, but I just don't trust that information. And practically no settings are made of stainless steel (or they're ugly-looking)! But I know that Beadalon sells stainless steel wiring, so it's perfect for me to make my own bezeled settings! Thank you so much for creating this alternative!!!

    I would through some solder on the prongs, just to stiffen them up.
    So funny, I have the same gems, size. Mine are Smokey Topaz, lol. I am SO DOING THIS!
