Old brass Union padlock picked and discussed

Old locks can be a real pain to pick due to years of wear and gunk in the lock. I got this one in a group of locks bought on ebay but it turned out to be a really nice lock after a bit of a clean up.

If you know about B.A.L.L., you know I'm on the hunt for a UNION padlock. I have a U-HAUL to cover the letter U, but I still want a UNION. I enjoy the history that accompanies a lock. I know all about picking old padlocks, everything you said resonates with me. I still enjoy them every bit as much as other stuff but trying to explain to people just how hard a simple looking lock was vs something of a known difficulty seems futile. Will try the zipping trick next time
