    I get the logic of doing only the same venues they did in '83, but oh man, if they brought the Southern/Death Cult to the States, we'd lose our minds. There's still a lot of elder goths out here that would jump at the chance to see/hear that set.🖤🖤🖤

    Thanks for recording this. Monday night in Brixton was amazing, I thought Charlie and JT nailed it as a rhythm section. The whole band were on fire and Ian's voice is particularly strong. I spent most of the gig at the front on Billy's side in awe. I saw you at the end recording at the back and thought I recognise that guy from somewhere...
    So good to hear these songs live again, Resurrection Joe and Gods Zoo especially.

      Thanks Paul, agree, rhythm section was phenomenal, JT absolutely nailing Nigel Prestons drum parts, was like the 1984 Lyceum gig coming to life, unreal. Videod the first night from next to the mixing desk then didn't touch the camera on the 2nd night, like you was on Billys side and just enjoyed the energy of the band and crown, ears were shot the next day, loudest gig I've been to in ages

I used to play my 'Live At The Lyceum' Video cassette so regulary in the early 90's my Video recorder ate the first copy and had to buy a new one immediately. Very emotional to see this set list played again, God knows what it must be like for Ian and Billy after 40yrs. I love when bands release that one-9ff single that stands on its own and because it’s not on an album proper, you sometimes forget about it for a bit.
    The Cure had Charlotte Sometimes, Bauhaus had Lagartija Nick, FotN had Blue Water and Psychonaut, Bunnymen had The Puppet, Killing Joke had A New Day… just perfect aural gems.
    I wish bands would do the same today. Digital media should have made it so much easier, but no one really takes advantage of it.

After all, concerts - particularly special evenings like that - are to be enjoyed and experienced with the spirit, as well as with the ears and eyes. I'm uploading my multicam of the 21st tonight mate. I'm disappointed at the response to my request for more footage, especially from those You tubers who have released the entire gig themselves from their own camera but don't appear interested in a collaboration effort, or even prepared to discuss it. It makes no sense to me. So it's going up with what I've got so far. Some songs have several angles, some only have 1....but the whole set is there! It could have been epic....but it's still OK!

      also, he's playing gretsch falcons which go out of tune easily when he uses the whammy, so looks like he has about 3 and the tech will be tuning them up behind the scenes.

    Difference between Death cult & Cult?

    • @AlternativeGuitars
      @AlternativeGuitars  6 месяцев назад

      They dropped the "Death" from the name as they thought it was too negative, then became the cult in 1984. The early Death Cult tracks are brilliant - Gods Zoo, Brothers Grimm, Christians etc

    Astbury's singing misses out on the recordings, it's much more powerful in real life.

      Closest we'll get to it now, Jamie's retired, Raymondo is in America and Nigel is no longer with us. I didn't see them first time round, then when I fnally saw them in 87 they'd dropped all the classic songs

      @@AlternativeGuitars you don't seem to understand you still have not seen Death Cult & closest your going to get 🤣 omg & as for Raymondo living in the USA They all do & he's been playing & recording last year with Dave(sex gang children) in new band (has left now) in LA & by time you first saw them they had moved on musical style was into their led Zeppelin stadium rock sound & dropped the Death from their name for commercial reasons but they dropped that in 84
