Please give this Band the respect they deserve grew up listening to them and still find myself listening to this great Band . Keep it up love you guys .
I saw The Cult supporting Guns n Roses at Milton Keynes Bowl in the 90's. It was super hot in the crowd. When they played Rain, it started raining at the chorus. You couldn't have made it up. I thought they seeded the clouds to make it rain. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Very underrated band. Billy is one of the best guitarists ever and Ian is at a level like few others. Got to see Billy at a special concert for only around fifty people and he was fantastic.

This band should've been huge. Their music could be heard in every rock bar and nightclub in the UK throughout the 80s and 90s. Fire woman's my favourite. So happy to see the band playing.
Loved the Cult past tense , Ian needs a major overhaul I think the Cult is representative of a group that wasted golden opportunities multiple times thanks to Ian, sadly the Cult realized their potential long after their popularity had eroded and they now seem desperate to breathe life into a fire that's long dead but for the nostalgia. RIP
When "Love" came out , my high school buds and I went The Cult on March 26, 1986 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. Epic! 31 years later I am still listening to their music with the same ferocity as if I had just heard it for the first time. They go down in my top 3 of best bands ever. Somebody said they were often overlooked, and agreed , and I think the critics failed to appreciate what The Cult brought to the table. Clean, honest , soulful, no bullshit Rock n Roll . And again, 31 years later after seeing more live shows and performances of all of my favorite bands, ...Love goes down as my #1 live show. It was mesmerizing. Thanks Ian and Billy for all of the years... and still rocking!
I saw them on that tour and several more over the years and agree they were overlooked however heavily promoted in Toronto on CFNY and were absolutely huge from 85 onward. It's in my top 5 albums of all time.
Agree! I was hooked after Love was released. Saw them for the first time when they opened for Billy Idol (Seattle, May 1987) promoting Electric, and have been listening since. They never got the deserved recognition, but that doesn't change the music--still rocks all the same!
I got Choice of Weapon a few yrs ago since I haven't heard from them in a long time. Choice of Weapon should have been the Rock Album of the Year for that year or won a Grammy, it's so good. Every song is better than the previous one and usually there's one or two so so songs on a CD, I love every song on Choice of Weapon. I'd go see them if they came to Portland OR.
Rock dinosaurs, playing as if for the first time, the quality only improves over the years, it's like a good and precious wine. We guests just have to say thanks !!
They pack the same punch, even now. The last time I saw The Cult live was in 1992 in Nashville at Vanderbilt University. We crashed the gate, to a sold out show. What I witnessed way back then, I still see now, razor close, tight, perfection. Thanks guys for the music, and the rock and roll soul.
My 22 year old daughter has became an absolute CULT fanatic so I know I'm parenting correctly! I'm 52 and they haven't invented a stereo system yet loud enough to play this band on! Rock on guys!
Dang, I had no idea these guys were this solid. This is bad ass for sure! Indeed, Billy Duffy on guitar is absolutely astonishing! I'm a child of the 80's and I'm ashamed to say I just sort of overlooked them back then.
I was a Cult die hard back in the day, as well as today, but I get what you're saying.. as I was never a "Rush" fan growing-up, but now I realize how good Rush was!
They're not underrated at all. Past their prime? Some still may argue that, but they're still going strong and in the recording studio as I'm typing this, but nonetheless they were huge in the 80s and into the 90s. I remember coming home from school everyday and turning on MTV (yes, when they actually played music videos lol) and She Sells Sanctuary would come on between 4 and 4:30 M-F.
This was done so good its as good as a studio album, That takes talent 75 years old here Took my daughter to see these guys in New York City maybe 38-40 years ago and they still kick serious ass.
How cool is Ian’s voice…can never get bored of listening to it… Duffy on guitar is just mind blowing… The rest of the band with backup vocals are so cool. Love this band since 1989 Long live the cult long live British Rock

The Cult is one of the most underrated rock bands of all time. I bought my copy of Electric when it came out and it is still in rotation today. There are not many bands from that era I can say that about.
Whoa, Astbury's voice is still great sounding. He always had a unique voice. Duffy's playing is also still fantastic. They just always have been great to listen to no matter what the year. Never out of my car CD player late 80s early 90s. Doing 100 miles plus a day. Hammering down the M8 at midnight. Saw them on their Ceremony tour. Awesome. Just love Billy Duffy. Love The Cult!
The music speaks louder than any other aspect. Rare these days. Seriously, this band is a gold mine of the best rock riffs and songs. Billy and Ian wore match maked in heaven. Long live the cult.
If I’m feeling really down, I have a blast of ‘The Cult’ at full volume; the best therapy I know of to lift my spirits right through the roof. Long live The Cult.

This is just completely BADASS! Even though I’ve loved The Cult from start to NOW, and as biased as this may sound, Billy Duffy has had a place in my heart for probably close to 30 years now. During their tour with Metallica, I was in a record store in Fort Wayne, Indiana where both bands were in town for a gig. I wasn’t planning on going to the show but I knew they were in town. Nevertheless, I was flipping through the Cult’s music CDs and records when a tattooed arm reached over my shoulder and pointed at their latest album and a thick British accent said, “that is the one you want”. Without twitching I replied, “I love that one. But right now I’ve been digging Electric”. He then said, “Did you know that The Cult is in town tonight?” To which I said, “YEAH! I’m not a huge Metallica fan but I wish I could go.” He was super polite and wished me well. After he walked away he started browsing and the packed record store paid him no mine. In that moment I looked back at him and I thought “wait a minute!” I flipped through albums and found one with a clear band photo and there he was. He was wearing a lanyard so I focused on it and there it was again! His name. I practically ran customers over to get to him as he was exiting. I said “Billy! Billy Duffy!” He turned around and saw me. He got the biggest smile on his face. I said “God damn it Billy why didn’t you just introduce yourself?! So we stood there and chatted for about five minutes, and he asked if I wanted to be his guest at the show. Regretfully I couldn’t. I had my wife with me. He signed a business card for me. “To Tony. All the best my friend, Billy Duffy. The only bad part about that moment? I’d had two twelve inch singles under my arm that I’d just bought. Never thought to have him sign them. But I have the memory at least.✌️😎
I'm a wife, and if my husband told me he'd met and chatted up Billy Duffy in the record store and was invited to be his guest I'd have kicked his ass for not going! How sad that he wasn't recognized. But perhaps he liked it that way.
Such an epic band and one of my true favourites. I saw them in Newcastle NSW Australia 1982. What a show and Ian Astbury held the crowd in his hands and yes all the women in the audience wanted him. Great band. Unique sound. 🤘🤘
Every player in the cult is way above and beyond. They are the stuff of legends. All of their songs are so well crafted for each part. There is a magical reason for every single note/beat.
so amazing this band is timeless because of the amazing talent behind each instrument including this amazing artist's vocals. i am finding The Cult to be my personal Rolling Stones of life. I love them.
Ian has such a unique tone to his voice while Billy knows how to make that guitar howl giving the Cult a unique sound. The first time I saw them was with Metallica. Been a fan since.
@@crkelle WOW.......and yet only a year or two earlier Guns N' Roses opened for The Cult, while a few years later Metallica opened (co-headlined to be exact) for Guns N' Roses! Funny how bands can be on "top" one minute and not so "big" the next, lol.
Agradezco el hecho de haber podido descubrir esta banda cuando tenia 13 años. Hoy dia me sigo deslumbrando cada vez que los escucho o los veo en vivo. La potencia la fuerza y la personalidad es majestuosa. Gracias THE CULT por tu arte!!!!
Saw them live twice, including one time in an outside venue. I was almost in trance, because it was so excellent. My gf who was with me said she had never seen me like this. The Cult does that to ya...
Been a fan of you since the early 80's!!! love all that you are Ian and Billy You guys shaped the way I listened and interpreted alot of the music I listen to today and then!!! Thank you so much! Ian keep that awesome voice and vocal as long as you can my friend, there will never be anyone ever equal!!!!
I've never seen them live but I'm still a big fan. I hope I get to even though they're older now. Hope they play some U.S. shows up east. Fingers crossed. 🤞
Ian sounds a bit like a deeper voice Kermit the frog, especially during the verses of Revolution.LOVE THE CULT,watching listening to their evolution over the first four albums(spread through the whole of the eighties)was awesome. They married together so many genres.Goth, punk, new wave, alt pop, metal and rock’n’roll. Each of those first four albums represented a significant change in style and sound every release without disappointing even the most hardcore fans.GO LISTEN.
I used to listen to them at full blast on my “Walkman” while doing my paper round back in the 80s and I still listen to their Love album while training today. I had the honour of seeing them in concert at Wembley Arena when Ian trashed the drum kit at the end of the gig. Amazing memories, and so good to see them playing again.
Saw them during their support for the "Rise" album. They were terrific. Matt Sorum was drumming for them. I rally love Rise. Among their best IMHO. Rave on!!

I lost count of how many times I saw these guys, 'back in the day' - they were always brilliant, each gig was always better than the last, and I always got goosebumps. I still do. And I still want to see them another 100 times. If you haven't even seen them and you get the chance, please go!
Embers is brilliant. Duffy crafts some of the catchiest and most expressive riffs and melodies. I’m not sure there are another two people who craft songs like Astbury and Duffy.
Rain is very...I cant describe all my feelings about this song. I cant help all the memories that time... This night they are playing in Buenos Aires... I wish to see this guys another time.. please, give me good vibes to enjoy their music and dance!!! (Im disable person..) greetings from ARGENTINA!!!!
I love that album too. They went experimental with their sound. Not a single filler on the album. The lyrics shine too. I was them in London on that tour.
Metodi thx for uploading this. Quality was solid as I tested out my new LG OLED TV and sound system last night. My wife claims I was just seeing how loud I could make it.. Hey testing is testing. Just saw the Cult in SLC 2 weeks ago. The new band members were great. Ian looked good and Billy? Well, the Duff Abides baby! THE DUFF ABIDES!!LONG LIVE THE CULT!
They all sound awesome, gotta give Ian a lil extra love, his voice sounded absolutely great! Hard to make up for a flat, lifeless singing performance, no matter how badass your band is (in regards to more of the "mature" bands playing live)...The Cult rules...

The wife could have stayed home.
I'm a wife, and if my husband told me he'd met and chatted up Billy Duffy in the record store and was invited to be his guest I'd have kicked his ass for not going! How sad that he wasn't recognized. But perhaps he liked it that way.
Way too many of these stories on RUclips I'm not saying it didn't happen I'm just saying it's doubtful
Such an epic band and one of my true favourites. I saw them in Newcastle NSW Australia 1982. What a show and Ian Astbury held the crowd in his hands and yes all the women in the audience wanted him. Great band. Unique sound. 🤘🤘
One of my requirements...if you don't like this band...we just can't be friends...ty.
Well then that my friend, is what makes you a Natzi , but I know what you mean
@@stephenlaurie759 thanks!
Haha, agreed.
not the nazi part tho.. just kidding..we can be friends anyway bro.
That's cool I wasn't trying to piss you off or anything
Every player in the cult is way above and beyond. They are the stuff of legends. All of their songs are so well crafted for each part. There is a magical reason for every single note/beat.
It's magic, music and spiritualism all in one.
Can't believe it's only coming on my phone now been listening for over 30 years. Awesome Music
Cheers for sharing.
God Bless
so amazing this band is timeless because of the amazing talent behind each instrument including this amazing artist's vocals. i am finding The Cult to be my personal Rolling Stones of life. I love them.
The Cult - timeless Rock and Roll. Billy Duffy - has that distant Psychedelic tone.
Ian has such a unique tone to his voice while Billy knows how to make that guitar howl giving the Cult a unique sound. The first time I saw them was with Metallica. Been a fan since.
Who was supporting who?
@@karlmccarron3318 the cult was opening for Metallica. It was a weird combination. I think the Cult filled in for another band
Me paso lo mismo!!
The same I was 13/14 when I heard She Sells Sactuary and The Cult has stayed with me ever since into my 40's🤟
Saw them live twice, including one time in an outside venue. I was almost in trance, because it was so excellent. My gf who was with me said she had never seen me like this. The Cult does that to ya...
Wow how many guitars are on the wall . Love to hear em all simultaneously doing
"She sells sanctuary"❤
They sound great. I’m so glad I found this video.
Never the same without Sorum on the drums but still one of the most widely underrated and under-appreciated bands to ever play.
Duffy is a beast..... The Cult are never less than excellent.
He rocks
I've never seen them live but I'm still a big fan. I hope I get to even though they're older now. Hope they play some U.S. shows up east. Fingers crossed. 🤞
One of greatest bands ever love all their music.awesome.
Escuto The cult desde 1992, e acho que é a melhor banda de todos os tempos!! O som do The Cult é unico...
Saw them during their support for the "Rise" album. They were terrific. Matt Sorum was drumming for them. I rally love Rise. Among their best IMHO. Rave on!!
I saw the Cult open for Billy Idol and they blew him away! Amazing band, amazing songs! Duffy can play a mean guitar!
The Cult originated from Bradford not Manchester. Get it right ya twit. Donna
@@donnahandsley9067 are you a professional wanker? Sounds like it! Too bad you couldn't comment on the original comment!
@@timdasilva2806 how dare you call me that. I have a cognitive disability and don't deserve to be at the receiving end of your stupid insult. Go and f@#+ yourself big baby.
These guys are on point! This band has always been GREAT!
This was one of the best performances in recent history to me.
(Im disable person..)
greetings from ARGENTINA!!!!
Thank you for sharing and imagine, that I am making my memories to this song right now!
Yeah hermano !!! Cheers from Porto Alegre !!!!!!!!!
Como temblaron las chapas del luna park papaaa!
greetings from Italy !!! and besos !!!
Greetings from Florida, USA. Keep rockin' Brother!!
Fantastic session love it. Their 1994 Album is so underrated The Cult/The Cult, have a listen!
I love that album too. They went experimental with their sound. Not a single filler on the album. The lyrics shine too. I was them in London on that tour.
Rockers!!! Love, Electric and Stone Temple!!!! ....and the voice of Ian is just amazing!!!
Nice to see they've grown older gracefully and been creatively adaptive.
Love The Cult simce I've heard "Love" in 1987...my favourite band for ever ❤🖤🌹
Metodi thx for uploading this. Quality was solid as I tested out my new LG OLED TV and sound system last night. My wife claims I was just seeing how loud I could make it.. Hey testing is testing. Just saw the Cult in SLC 2 weeks ago. The new band members were great. Ian looked good and Billy? Well, the Duff Abides baby! THE DUFF ABIDES!!LONG LIVE THE CULT!
Thanks for this! I loved them ever since. Rain and she sells sanctuary my favourites ❤🤘
They all sound awesome, gotta give Ian a lil extra love, his voice sounded absolutely great! Hard to make up for a flat, lifeless singing performance, no matter how badass your band is (in regards to more of the "mature" bands playing live)...The Cult rules...
Awesome...loved this group...so eclectic, so underrated and so talented.
That´s a great band. It´s a shame I´ve never seen them live. I saw Ian Astbury with the Doors once though. I must say he´s a hell of a singer!!!
I was born in 1980 and you are my forever best The Cult
la increíble banda, excelente sonido y la voz de Ian ahhhhh.... queda para la historia, los amo
still listening in 2022 this video of this great band. It was The Cult bests presentations In my opinion.
excellent recording..... I love the Rain and Revolution remind me of the good ole days! good times in the mid 80s
Jamás me canso de escucharlos
Son tan buenos, excelente la energía que transmiten...
The Cult entrega tudo aquilo que eu admiro numa banda de rock: excelentes músicas, performance incrível, paixão pelo que fazem e alma acima de tudo.
