WoW , Sothern Death Cult.Opening for Killing Joke I didn't get to see them till I was like 11 for Sonic Temple as the Cult @ West Palm Beach Auditorium ....been Backstage a couple of Times, Billy Duffy is really nice. Ian I didn't bother because his Vice is the Band - Aids .. ;€
Some great bands came out of this lot..Ian hooking up with Billy for death cult and the other lads starting up getting the fear..and then into a circle....s.d.c.were great when I seen em...zig zag club and support to theatre of hate...Ian meeting Billy perhaps...
Billy Duffy really that dude! That fuckin riff near the end of false faces is mind melting. Stuck in my head the minute I heard it. Musta ran it back 3-4 times
@@ModernCatholic-p6q from interviews I've watched the lead singer (ian astbury) was already in a band and when Billy finally joined him they started the southern death cult. They pretty much are the cult cause they've stuck together since.
Still like SDC, Death Cult, and The Cult - Dreamtime LP. The session versions of these songs do not sound as good as the studio versions released on vinyl, which is a first.
@@stupidlogic2987 I should've mentioned that. But thanks for pointing that out. I may be also referring to the 12" Singles they released . And i did say studio versions, meaning the tracks specifically recorded for release on records.
@@stupidlogic2987 I had forgotten about the album! Obsessed with it back in the day. Had it on - cassette tape release! I wanna cry, the nostalgia, youth vibe.
@@888pinkhippo Yep I find myself going back and listening to old stuff, something magic about it, bands like early New Model Army, Skeletal Family, Ghost Dance and even Dead or Alive before they became a pop product for Stock Aitkin and Waterman, their early gothy stuff is great, check them all out. Skeletal Family's Promised Land is a great track.
I totally agree from the late eighties Ian Astbury went to America & changed his accent within that year. He turned up on some music show with "Love removal machine" a shower of shit with the guitar intro exactly like " Start me up" from the Rolling Stones...I find it hard to believe that Billy Duffy ran with that considering how good he'd actually been.
as short lived as they were and having left behind no actual proper album or even a series of 45's, they are still one of my all time favorite bands.
Got to say 1 ov my very favourite bands in the early 80s
Absolute brilliance - LOVE this so much!
I used to bunk off school to watch them rehearse.
Great times.
Saw this lot supporting the Joke at Lyceum. Seems like a hundred years ago. Great band, great drummer Akky. Pity they couldn't stay as they were.
as in Killing Joke?

i have never heard anything Akky did after SDC but i actually consider him one of my favorite drummers.
@@newwavepop he started nation records. Also he’s been the frontman of Fun-Da-Mental since the early 90’s.

This is not Billy on guitar. SDC were a completely different band. The guitar player is Dave 'Buzz' Burroughs
Billy Duffy was never in Southern Death Cult, Ian left and formed Death Cult with Billy.
@@Thirdfish ah! So it was the death cult when he got involved. I was confused even after that interview I saw. Either way that riff is god like.
There is a few live videos of SDC on RUclips, the guitarist was called Buzz.@@MORSPLiFTHANMAN
Thank you so much 💕 for uploading this. God, to hear Or Glory for the first time in nearly 40yrs, 🥲. Edit: and Today!🥲😭😊
Pedant alert: it's All Glory, not Or glory. Source: the original vinyl LP sat in my collection, released shortly after their breakup.
@@stupidlogic2987 You pendant!
WOW! Didn't know these versions existed! Thanks!
How good is this !!!!
Great Peel Session, thanks for uploading this
Interesting early version of hollow man 👍

Thanxs! Muito obrigado!
Many thanks. Lots of bullocking about instrumentally. Sounds oddly like a cross between Spandau Ballet and U2.
Agreed! Very funny and true. Still like though, and it brings those early 80s back
I can see the similarity to those bands in their early incarnations.
♥️

Interesting comment, seeing as four of the tracks on the posthumous SDC album are from the Peel sessions.

Actually a lot like early Yes.
Southern Death Cult/Death Cult were intrinsically connected, especially live or bootleg cassettes. The connection stopped there.

Did they ever release these versions for sale in the US ?
I have no idea if they are available anyway...
Some are on the album that comprised of session stuff and singles
