      Good news!!!!!!!!!
Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.
      Acts 3:19‭-‬20 CSB
From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
      Matthew 4:17 CSB
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
      Mark 1:15 CSB
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
      John 3:3‭, ‬5 CSB
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
      1 John 2:6 NIV
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
      John 14:6 CSB
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.
      John 3:16 GNB
_Jesus_ actually died, *_GOD_* has _His blood_ as a sacrifice for your sins. *_GOD_* killed *_His_*_ Only Son_ for you. All your sins: sexual immorality (fornication, adultery(lust), LGBTQIA+ , pornography) murder( hating someone, envying, abortion and killing someone) , theft( murder, lying, abuse, corruption, disrespect, racism) and idolatry (greed, love of money, worship of other gods and pride) can be forgiven only if you believe in _Jesus_; that __*_God_* sacrificed _Him_ for the atonement of all your sins, and that_*He*_ raised _Him_ up 3 days later. And now He sits on the Right Hand of *_The Father_*__, ruling over all creation as __*_Lord and Saviour_* of the world.
Jesus Christ died for your sins, and only through Him you can be forgiven of all your sins.
You only go to heaven because of faith and belief in The death and resurrection of _The Son of _*_God_* for the sins of the world.
Hell is for those reject GOD'S Only Son, they will be burnt by the wrath of The Almighty God.
Believe that all your sins are forgiven because of The Blood of Jesus, who is The Messiah, The Saviour.
Repent, turn away from your sins and live because, on the Cross of Jesus Christ your sins have been paid in full. Let Jesus is our only Hope, because
      *_Jesus Lives_*

I had to talk about this poem and "Does it matter" by Sassoon in a class and it was an amazing experience! I didn't thank you before I absolutely forgot it, but this analysis helped me a lot. I'm studying to be an English teacher and in a few days I have to sit for a final exam, so now I'm watching it again! one of the best poems I ever read!

Thank-you for this! We annotated this poem in class, however it seems as though we missed some important techniques and messages to be conveyed in Anthem, so after watching this I have a better understanding!

Note for me what I rewatch before exam: The use of a sonnet and the word "Anthem" both are ironically showing how war is romanticised and that then allows him to show how completely wrong they are

We talked about this poem on an aesthetics course, I did. The professor, had another explanation for the last line, "And each slow dusk a drawing down of blinds." He felt that Owen had brought a cosmic effect to the poem by that line. The blinds being the nights darkening the skies over the battlefields. I had originally pictured blinds being drawn down at the homes of the bereaved. That was wrong, because such blinds would not be drawn down only on nights, but left down day and night for the period of mourning. His interpretation made much more sense and gave an extra special, more moving ending to this powerful and poignant poem. Owen's uses blinds as a metaphor for nights, as if he's saying nature herself is the mourner of her dead and dying, in the trenches and No- Man's land.

Maybe so, but poems in general are subjective to the readers view and perception of the poem/narrative.

Libertines and Pete Doherty brought me here, but the reference to this poem is really just one of many popular references in his song.
Either way I don't think that you have to consider it an irony to portray war and suffering as something beautiful. Someone else's suffering can be a satisfaction as good as any.
As an example I also listen to Slayer and this poem made me think of the line "raped by machine gun fire" from Mandatory Suicide. When the vocalist shouts out those words, encompanied by merciless drumming and guitar strings, the words perfectly maximises the feeling. Note that this feeling is of joy, not because it dampens the notion of suffering but precisely because of its' maximisation. It provides almost a feeling of inflicting pain, as opposed to being a victim. There's no irony in that, neither is there need for it because the lyrics are of another value.
Of course such values could also be combined with irony, riming etc, such as with Wilfred Owen's poem or Pete Doherty's song, yet I don't think you should narrow it down as if irony would be the only good thing to come out of their works.
