    Polly,
I did not have enough room in my first comment to commend your videos. One point you might want to think about is Jessie Pope. She is most likely the inspiration for the poem with her own poem "The Call" We know Owen read it. We know he was affected by her poem because he used name as the subtitle in draft 1. Her references were not fully withdrawn until draft 4. The "You" you refer to in verse 4, which was present in draft 1, is probably one of the few references remaining to her.

Lame is a term usually associated with animals. As is Blood-Shod. He is comparing the warriors to lame animals.

The title “Dulce Et Decorum Est” comes from the “Orcles” of Horace: Number 2 - Augustam amide The line comes from verse 4, means: “It is sweet and proper to die for one’s country.”
It is important to note what Horace was actually suggesting through that line. The verse suggests death will pursue those who flee the battle and those who are lame and those who are disabled. Death will even pursue the contentious objector. Therefore the title is saying it is better to fight and die for your country because “death” will hunt you down whoever and whatever you are.

I am studying this for an assignment, and am completely new to poetry in an educational way.
I am trying to work out the poetic 'styles'. Now, I have rhyme, and Iambic, but is onomatopeia a 'style'? I am extremely confused!!! :(
