THANKS!!!!! I"m been playing that song over and over in my head for years...loved those little Put Put Pizza Hut segues back to the Johnny Carson show that featured a still card of the little Pizza Hut cartoon guy and that Song! THANKS again.
was this an official pizzahut commercial? i like how they wrapped the pizza. glad you posted this!!! i wish i could see more! its so nolstagic! thanks for sharing!
From "Putt Putt to the Pizza Hut" it's now "App App for Pizza Hut" , and it's weird how Pizza Hut wrapped their pizzas with paper instead of using a box for their pizzas.
Yep. All the early pizza place used a cardboard circle and slid the whole thing into a bag, which they 'rolled' closed. Often made the pizza soggy from trapped steam (which is why I never stack boxed pizzas to this day)!
Your dad is a masterful producer even by today's high-tech (and poorly written) standards. People remember that stuff and it's good brand awareness. Oh and if Obama gets a second term we'll ALL be driving cars just like the horn-rim hat man.
That Pizza Hut featured in the commercial was not the one at Kellogg & Bluff, It looks like maybe Kellogg & Rock Rd. Those round stickers were a must have on your bicycle.
I think I know the first Omaha one. 90th and Ohio. It's the same old building with that sign - now a sandwich shop but in the early 70's I remember the corner booths by that little window and the fireplace some had. Omaha may have been the 2nd or 3rd market?

The question I’m asking is why is the guy driving a go cart? And I wouldn’t have had as much problem with it if there weren’t people driving real cars! This guy is a weirdo.
Agreed, a few years ago I was helping with a shoot at the second oldest Pizza Hut franchise, In Manhattan KS, I told the owner that PH just wasn't the same as I remember as a kid, he told me they make at his place like it always was made, and he was right had lunch there after the shoot was open and it was great.
I find it interesting the pizza came in a bag, not a box!!
That chick singing "piiiizzaaaa..." cracks me up. I've watched this spot many times, still get a kick out of it. Thanks Wally, your dad made a keeper.
she sounds like she's drowning in hell
Saw this in movie theater in Fairfield Iowa in 1965 when I went to Parsons college-we had a Pizza Hut in town
Are you sure it was 1965? I found a document stating the film was made in 1967 by Randall L Parker Productions in Wichita, KS where Pizza Hut began.
@@kat-reneekittel6159 yeah since it was a LONG time ago he could’ve misremembered XD
@@kat-reneekittel6159 No, this was made in 1965, it first aired in 1966.
I remember this being the first old commercial I watched online as a kid that made me fascinated about vintage advertising.

I remember watching this commercial on tv when I was 5 and I wanted to drive that car so bad!! I just thought that would be the coolest thing ever.
i want a remake of this classic commercial!
I doubt whether Pizza Hut would ever do a remake of this classic spot.
@@armorybrunotjr.3204 well in that case, why don’t we just make it ourselves on RUclips?
Yeah...
ordered a pizza delivery today the delivery guy shows up
in a full size car
damn disappointing ....
Well done video!
Fact: The guy in a suit who ordered pizza and drove his car is Ron Williams.
He looks like my English professor in his younger years.
He looks a lot like Wally Cox. Must be the glasses and thin frame.
Almost looks like the riddler from Gotham.
Is it really the famous actor? Because I thought his skin would be darker and his face a little different :D
It's like Benny Hill shot a pizza hut ad...
THANKS!!!!! I"m been playing that song over and over in my head for years...loved those little Put Put Pizza Hut segues back to the Johnny Carson show that featured a still card of the little Pizza Hut cartoon guy and that Song! THANKS again.
1965 was the year my Aunt Was born in. Also, that car looks almost exactly the same one that was used in the Pee-wee movie series.
I’m gonna watch this in 2025 to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Had Pizza Hut for dinner... I think the pizza shown in this commercial is bigger than the "large" they have now.. Glad I got 3 pizzas to feed us all.
best pizza hut commercial ever!
The theme from the Benny Hill show fits this video perfectly.
Fun Fact: This first aired during the halftime period of the 1966 "Game of the Century" between Notre Dame and Michigan State.
Baseball?
@@tripjet999 No, college football.
@@Maximus4587 thx for the fact
I WENT TO COLLEGE!
I'm getting a clear Benny Hill vibe here.....
Still the best Pizza Hut commercial to this day.
They didn't use boxes in those days.
was this an official pizzahut commercial? i like how they wrapped the pizza. glad you posted this!!! i wish i could see more! its so nolstagic! thanks for sharing!
Yeah, 1965
Please make a HD version of this commercial because I want to see the actual colors of the commercial.
I think the original 16mm is somewhere I would have to find and scan
It was the first commercial for Pizza Hut made in 1968.
How long did it take him to shoot this?
Actually it was from 1965, and given the fact that those kiddie cars back then aren’t fast, probably a while.
This is so meta.. it was already retro back in 65.
It's a bloody work of art!
Wow this is biblical
Some of the people in the ad were from a talent agency, 1 person is my father another my oldest sister. I will check on house etc..
"Putt Putt to the Pizza Hut"! Funny! Obviously, this must have been a local spot long before Pizza Hut became a national chain.
Locally made in Wichita, KS by Randall L Parker Productions where Pizza Hut began on Kellogg and Bluff.
Yeah Just 1965
It really makes ya think.
Really activated my almonds
Thanks for placing this vintage piece man,it was funny and great to watch. Amazing how little the hut design has changed though after seeing that.
The funniest Pizza Hut commercial of all time, and this is from the very first Pizza Hut commercial from 1968.
It was 1965.
Sounds like that 2000s band 311
I haven't eaten Pizza Hut since they got rid of the Priazzo.
The Priazzo was pizza heaven

Pizza Hut Commercial (USA, 1965) 🇺🇲🗓️
I'm impressed with how fast Pizza hut made the pizzas. It seems like they were ready only 1 minute after he ordered.
Very cool! I love this.
imagine buying your own pizza, only to get none because of your angry neighbors.
This is really the first one ever for Pizza Hut?
Ever ever?
It's a good commercial. gets your attention for sure.
To the Pizza Hut!
Hopefully your dad was better at driving hilariously tiny cars in real life than in the commercial.
@LJK193 it was at Kellogg and Bluff in Wichita KS. They moved the original building and it now sits on the campus of Wichita State Uninversity.
Piiiiiiizzaaaaaaa
Pauly ..you're killing me smalls....

Great team up with my father.
im writing a research paper for my english class and im doing it on pizza hut, so i though i should look at this ad. haha

@abegler The house that the commercial was filmed at is at 5824 Avalon in Wichita

Were there no pizza boxes back then?

Lol! 😁
lol.... very funny ad.

that's his car? oh wow...
Wally Cox gets screwed again.
Wondering if that first commercial is one of the exhibits at The Original Pizza Hut Museum on the Wichita State University campus?
Pernell Harrison - the one in this commercial isn’t the original but a a newer one at the time out east in Wichita KS.

5824 Avalon wichita is the street address of the house.
Great commercail. One thing I don't get though, how can somebody fit into a car that small?
I would love a photo of how that pizza bag looked -- are there any left from the shoot??

Please tell me you are joking.
what the fuck was that?!
I'll be taking that car please.
Lsd
They and other pizza places ought to consider reviving those bag/wrappers...that would use a lot less paper than cardboard boxes.
The question I’m asking is why is the guy driving a go cart? And I wouldn’t have had as much problem with it if there weren’t people driving real cars! This guy is a weirdo.
I like this commercial, but am not a fan of Pizza Hut~ It's been crud for the last 15-20 years~ Papa John's is much better~
