I totally remember the 2nd commercial at 0:34, and looking back on this a quarter century later, I really enjoy the fact that Nintendo was trying so hard to hype a compilation of games that half their userbase probably already owned and had likely played to death :P All-Stars is a novelty at best, and Lost Levels was probably the most uninspired "Mario" experience I had as a kid (which is probably why NOA elected to push for an entirely new game instead of just a more difficult version of the first one). I had friends with SNES back in the day, and we all preferred to play mario 1, 2, and 3 on the NES even if they owned All-Stars. 1:04 - myself, and literally everyone I knew as a kid, got a free game with their Genesis. Altered Beast, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, streets of rage, some football bs, I got Sonic 2 with mine AND had a free mail-in offer for one of a handful of different games (I chose Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, I don't recall what the other options were)... there were lots of different pack-in or mail-in games available, and I'm sure none of them were compilations of older games from the Master System with a prettier skin ;) This commercial must have been right in the middle of both machines' popularity; the clueless kid with the Sonic shirt seems like a direct call-out to the Game Gear commercial with the kid (Ethan Suplee) hitting himself in the head with a squirrel just to see more colors on his GameBoy... or maybe that was a retaliation to this one? Who knows, 90s commercials were absurd :D
