Toyota should have shifted their strategy to REEVs. Ditch the transmission, transfer case, and drive shaft completely and move to electric axles. Then use their 3cyl (or 4cyl) engine to generate electricity and store excess into a smaller 50kwh battery. This allow more room to hide the batteries between the frame rails instead of taking up space in the trunk. Toyota's electrification has been rock solid for decades. Edison motors is proving this to be successful without breaking the bank. The Ram Charger will use this setup. (I expect it to be expensive though) The BYD Shark is already on sale in Mexico and it's even pretty affordable.

I wonder if Toyota is delaying the 4Runner pricing and release due to the reception of the Tacomas pricing and 4 cylinder only option. Tacoma being the Guinea pig ‘test mule’. Maybe waiting on Hondas pricing of the new Passport with its V6 ?
the release and pricing delays are most likely related to high inventories of Tacomas and Land Cruisers which are still sitting on dealer lots across the country. Toyota has already reduced the projected 2025 production volume from 140,000 to just 100,000, which is very telling. Delayed market release and reduced production volumes most definitely will result in a very high MSRP. I suspect we're looking at low $50K range for the SR5, $80K-$90K for the TRD Pro, and possibly near $100K for the Trail Hunter with dealer markups which aren't going away any time soon. So if you're a "regular Joe" looking to getting into a 2025 4Runner, that's probably not going to happen.
@@willytrouble88Look at the 2024 Tacoma. It didn’t take long for it to get incentives. Yet a lot of dealerships are offering discounts from $2,500 to $3,500+ for the sport and offroad. Cheaper materials and costs more. I saw the pro at the LA auto show and the entire interior is cheap bendy plastic. It feels like they knew they were using cheaper materials so they tired to make it more aggressive. Not 100% on board with the 4 cylinder engine. I feel like you can put a V6 turbo in and still get better gas milage. A 4 cylinder working that hard worries me on reliability. Once my 5th gen hits a million miles, I'm getting an Ineos Grenadier.
The release of the Sequoia, Tundra, Tacoma together generated less hate than this 4Runner on their release which shows how much much more popular the 4Runner is in the world. I understand why Toyota waited so long to release it, they probably had a nightmare list of things to accomplish to satisfy the buyers of the previous generations. So many misses for me personally as a 5th Gen 2021 owner on this new vehicle. It certainly has slowed down any depreciation on my 4Runner which I guess is a huge plus. I won't be buying one of these. I prefer the rear seat folding design of the 5th gen. Allows more space in the back Sind the backrest becomes toast of the floor. I also prefer the 5th gen front steel skid plate over this 6th gen plastic plate. And the hood strut was so much better in the 5th gen compared to the 6th gen hood prop. Lastly I love my TRD OR manual transfer case lever over the knob found here.
I can't understand why these commenters are in full scale attack. They don't even want to give the 6th gen a chance. After driving my 98 Rav 4 for 26 years with 397,000 miles, I'm getting a 6th Gen 4 runner TRD Off Road. There's no doubt I'm going to love it! I've waited for it for the better gas mileage.
I love the 5th gen, hate the 6th gen. If it mirrors the new tacoma price structure then it is way way over priced. The 2.5 turbo or 2.5T hybrid are horrible choices for this vehicle. After several new Toyota Trucks, I'll never buy another one unless they produce a naturally aspirated one at a reasonable price.
For him to mention they are realigning the design between the 4runner and trucks is significant cus only true toyota guys know that. Since the tacoma and hilux split theres been overlap.

Damm Chloe gets to see all the nice Toyota stuff
I can't understand why these commenters are in full scale attack. They don't even want to give the 6th gen a chance. After driving my 98 Rav 4 for 26 years with 397,000 miles, I'm getting a 6th Gen 4 runner TRD Off Road. There's no doubt I'm going to love it! I've waited for it for the better gas mileage.
I bet there is something about the design that prevented them from adding a front locker or they are being cheap again.
I'll wait a bit (like 2 years) to buy a new 4Runner so the Toyota can work out the bugs in this future vehicle. I'm leaning towards an SR5 model.
Smart move!
My 22 Tacoma came with a full spare.
TRD JON!! Let’s goooooo
Id take a front differential locker over a sway bar disconnect .
How about some Land Cruiser content, lift kits tires and such?
I love the 5th gen, hate the 6th gen. If it mirrors the new tacoma price structure then it is way way over priced. The 2.5 turbo or 2.5T hybrid are horrible choices for this vehicle. After several new Toyota Trucks, I'll never buy another one unless they produce a naturally aspirated one at a reasonable price.
Have zero plans to buy or trader for the new 4Runner .. going to keep my 24 pro for years
Question…..Will the TRD Off-Road have the hybrid motor option ?
Probably on the Premium
TRD off road will have both gas and hybrid options
Keeping my FJ
The more they change on the New 6th Gen the more my 5th Gen ‘24 TRD ORP in Underground Gray keeps going up in value!!! 💪🏼
And my 2024 4Runner TRD Pro just keeps going up in value the closer they get to releasing this 4 banger turbo garbage.
Glad you’re happy! 😊
Yes. Yes it does.
I'll keep driving my 1994 4runner.
For him to mention they are realigning the design between the 4runner and trucks is significant cus only true toyota guys know that. Since the tacoma and hilux split theres been overlap.
I will keep my 2013
By the time you build one of these 4runner. Goin to be looking 👀 at $100k + no way taking it off road. Will hurt every little scratch. Will be like dropping $1,000 each little ding.
I just want base SR5 with better MPG and a turbo
You do not want a turbo. Natural aspiration is what you want. All motor.
It's so sad when hood struts are the main feature on a car.
