You just helped me fix a super nice/free mini fridge! I saw it on the side of the road in a super nice neighborhood with a free sign and hoped that it would work, I was disappointed when I heard the click of the overload switch kick on. I tested for continuity and it was on all 3 poles and also no short to ground. Also tested amperage of the pull and it was well below short. Bypassed the relay like you showed and boom! Compressor rolling perfect and nice cold fridge. Thought it was shitty that the rich bastard put a broken fridge out and just put free without "need tlc" or "needs to be fixed". They knew it didn't work and could have taken it to be recycled, but I am glad they didn't ☺. Their loss is my gain. Replacement relay costs 7 bucks and will be here in 2 days!
Thank you so much for this video. I have an old Frigidaire freezer and the genuine controler relay is discontinued from Frigidaire but worst it is that absolutly unavailable in the aftermarket. So far with your video I was able to start the freezer and save the food inside. I leave it work until it stop then make the contact (as shown) to restart it. I have ordered online another relay (look alike) and according to your indications I should be able to plug it on the compressor and fix this problem. Thanks again.

After a long time looking I finally came across a discarded fridge which I was able to salavge the compressor from, and thanks to your video I just tested it and it works perfectly. I'll sort it out with a momentary switch for a quick start and it will be ready to get into work helping me in the shop.
This is good information to know if you are waiting on a new relay and got food in the fridge. I turned my freezer to max so it will stay colder longer between jump starting it. Also filled up some Tupperware containers with water so they turn into big blocks of ice. thanks for this info

After 20+ videos I found this one about my fridge compressor. I was minutes away from hotwiring it and then it kicked back on. Shot always happens the day after you buy 500$ worth of grocery’s.
The hot wire goes to the middle COMMON pin, the neutral wire goes to the right RUN pin, and the wire spliced into that neutral wire goes temporarily to the left START pin.
The compressor in my GE fridge started without the capacitor, but if yours doesn't and needs the boost, then splice two wires and put the capacitor in parallel with the one that temporarily energizes the start winding.
i tried this on a wine cooler thats not working and the compressor turned on after connecting hot wires to just the common (top prong) and Run (right prong). I did not have to to touch the Start. Does this mean the compressor is bad?
Yes, simply unplug the fridge, make all three connections as described (COMMON, RUN, START), plug in the fridge, and remove the splice wire from the START pin as soon as the compressor starts. Just keep in mind that a) there is no external overload protection (as is typical with a Time Start Device / TSD) and b) when the thermostat sees a low enough temperature, it will cut power to the compressor (normal behavior), but when the temperature rises and it sends power to the compressor again, the RUN winding will be energized but the START winding won't (abnormal behavior), which could damage the compressor. So, when the fridge turns off the compressor, it's best to unplug the fridge, disconnect all wires from the compressor, plug in the fridge, and restart the compressor manually later when you hear the fridge start up the evaporator fan.

No. PTC relay will automaticaly energize the compressor without our supervision, doing so will over heat the compressor, as common and run is only needed once once compressor reach atleast 1/4 of its speed,

Energizing both windings for more than a few seconds will overload the compressor. The START winding should be energized only long enough to get the compressor started so the RUN winding can keep it going alone.
No you can't. On a 12v compressor the three connections are the three windings of a three phase motor. It will only run if you use a 12v 3 phase motor controller.

If you follow the step on the vid then it only hums,.most probably the motor compressor is stack up

It will not, starting capacitor is important for the optimal performance of compressor, capacitor is very cheap to buy

If the compressor produces pressure, then it merely managed to start without the second winding being energized.

Lagyan mo lift kapag sa mga gulong sir. At kapag sa mga inflatable pools maliit masyado ung volume ng hangin galing sa compressor.
Wag po irekta delikado po yan. Dapat dadaan parin sa OVERLOAD protector. Para safe tayo
