Two people I would have loved to say thank you and shake their hand are Boris Karloff and James Stewart. Its really a shame Boris wasnt in more mainstream movies, very good actor.
As far as Apocalypse Now is concerned, one cannot say that Brando surpassed Karloff in the work as Karloffs take was much different and much more physical , while Brandos was more cerebral. Two totally different takes.
