It’s such a tragedy that today’s generation has no appreciation for these wonderful movies or these wonderfully talented stars. This was and has always been my favorite era.

28 years old, and it is 2016. I love silent movies. I even teared up when they talked about his death. A true learned, he is immortalized in his great films

36 years old and I also appreciate the fine art of silent movies. I always find such sincerity and proper professionalism in old movies and even some older shows. It has come to the point that if I want to watch something of true class whatever the genre: it always seems to be in black and white.

+Cynthia Norman & jblfd - In part 1 of this there were 23,000 + viewers. Now there are only 5,500. Thanks for staying in. So many people don't realize that Lon was not just a horror actor. He was simply a great actor. As was stated here, look at the expressiveness of his hands. And, he rarely over acted, which was common in the times. He was The Man Of A Thousand Emotions. Best wishes, Ted

    A Really beautiful documentary.
    Thank you so much.
Such a shame that the world had to say goodbye so soon to this great actor.
But maybe....just maybe he is continuing his work in the mids of a heavenly made cinema theatre.

i am 43 now. As a child I idolised Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. They cast an eldritch spell upon my boyish imagination. I would draw pictures of them out of respect and awe of their work. I was melancholically moved by Karloff's Frankenstein monster and I was dazzled by Lon Chaney's phantom and hunchback and the plethora of impossibly diverse guises that jostled within him. Chaney as a name may have been lost in the mists of time in the public consciousness, but a lot of his films have become entwined with cinema history folklore and will live on as long as the medium of moving pictures is around. The first stars of hollywood were the biggest and brightest, from Chaney to Chaplin, Valentino to Swanson, from Keaton to Garbot, Harold Lloyd to Clara Bow, Louis Brookes to Mary Pickford and Lillian Gish.

Excellent documentary. I had no idea the wide array of tragic, marginalized, and unusual characters Lon played. Phenomenal actor.
