What kind of tape did you use to attach your cake to the cake board? I know it's double sided obviously, were they sticky dots or just regular style tape? I appreciate all your tutorials and commentaries, so very helpful to learn from someone who admits they have made errors while learning at the same time

I like glue dots, specifically the multi-use craft kind. In the past, I also tried hot glue (until I burned half the skin off a finger) and electrical tape (facing different directions) and masking tape (not secure enough). In the end, I found glue dots to be the safest most effective way to get a good seal between the cake and its platter.

What are the sizes of your three cakes? Also, what size dowels (thickness) do you use for each cake? Do you ever like putting 1 dowel in the center straight through all cakes?
    Love your videos!!

I can't remember the size of those cake tiers but looking at it, I'm guessing it was 10-8-6 (inches in diameter for each tier) or possibly 11-9-7. The size of the dowels I use range from 1/4" to 1/2" in diameter. I will opt for a dowel as wide as 3/4" to support the middle of the bottom tier on an especially large cake. Yes, I absolutely do use a sharpened center dowel. and you can watch that in part 2: www.wickedgoodies.net/stacked-cake-assembly/

What size wooden dowel did you use for the centre please?

It depends on the size of the cake, and varies according to each tier, but a 1/2" (1.27 cm) diameter dowel is the one I most often use for the lowest center support.

How do you measure doweling? By wrapping a tape measure around it? Or by running a ruler across it? Need to know because I'm ordering some to fit cane heads. Maybe in other words, do I measure the diameter? Or the circumference?

I'm a little confused (also don't know what you mean by fit cane heads) but I'm pretty sure you are asking how do you decide where to place dowels in relation to the edges of the cake into which they are being inserted. Hopefully I am correct in understanding that is your question. If so, the answer is to use a piece of parchment that's the same size as the cake that goes above. That acts as a guide. I just eyeball where to put the dowels, making sure they are placed not at the edges of the above tier but an inch or so inside where its edges will rest. Dowels don't have to be perfectly symmetrical or equidistant in relation to one another - roughly symmetrical and roughly equidistant is good enough - so there is no need to measure this part. The important thing is that they are at the same height. That should be very precise.

You get to decide how many layers of cake you want to provide.
      This is the buttercream: www.wickedgoodies.net/buttercream-frosting/

This style of putting dowels s dangerous when transport the top s fulling down, better must have long center dowel to connect 3tiers for secure tnx.
