You gave him 7/11 sushi??? why yall trying to kill him
Lollll
HAHA
To be honest, if you're drunk and you just want sushi, it's alright :D I'd never try eating it sober though...
Pearl harbour pay back lmao
If u don't live in Hawaii then your opinion doesnt count. Because many 711 stores in mainland sell sushi all sushi is made by different companies.
To think all sushi at different 711 stores in different states taste the same is plain ignorance.
Hawaii 711 is madd by a Japanese bento company frkm Japan so the sushi is not bad.
'The worst he could give is zero'
Him : Minus zero star
Have the same energy as "the worst she would say is no"
Lol
Trader Joe’s sushi is terrible
hospitality at ita finest
@MUFC4 The USA doesn't even like the metric system. You're incorrect in your assumption. Also, shut up about irrelevant information
Chef: This tuna is actually kinda nice!
5 secs later: 0.5 stars
the tuna has nice quality
but thats it
That is a high rating in Japan well fairly high
In the worth it sushi episode he said “the quality of the fish isn’t everything when it comes to sushi.
@@tanyastefoglo1492 When it comes to sushi that is mainly fish, and when you're using actual sushi rice.
@@Conorator yeah, I know
*Mathematically, -0 and 0 are the same... but if someone rates your sushi a -0 star, it must be actually dogshit.*
I like their sushi. That's probably because i have no taste, but i like it.
@@vahepoghosyan9466 same lol, I mean of course an expert has higher standards
@@lightlysal Apparently 2/5 stars is already good in japan standards. So getting 1 means its “ok”.
i think when he said "minus zero", he meant "negative"
(Fact that noone cares about) in calculus, they are different. 0 is the limit of positive number progression going to zero, and -0 is the same for negative numbers
Me: mmmm this delicious
Him: this is disgusting
Me: this is disgusting
Totally not a Gordon Ramsey comment
Me: it's pretty good
Him: it's disgusting
Me: really?
Me: ~eats real sushi
Me again: ok, it was really was bad

@@majinmilan3636 Go back to the sims
Jim Pickens about to say that
Basically, If you want sushi go to a restaurant
Spencer Mccall Or if you're lucky, order delivery.
Spencer Mccall Here in Belgium we actually have supermarkets with sushi stands where the sushi is made fresh everyday (you see the chefs preparing it). It won't be as fresh as right on your plate, but for supermarkets it's the freshest you're gonna get.
Do it the right way .. or don't 😂😂👏👏👏
"His" restaurant*
***** Both Delhaize as Carrefour's have it. Depends on what location. I think Carrefour has their locations where there are sushi stands set online, delhaize hasn't (or I couldn't find it online :P)
"Is that bad?"
"...I mean I don't wanna eat actually" lool
funniest saying haha
Very Honest
“Yeah this is ok, tuna is nice… 0.5 stars”
Brutal
"kinda pretty nice" is my new half hearted compliment
same as "its alright"
Just how i compliment my friends art
200th like
That my new catchphrase
So.. If "Pretty nice" was 1/2
Then.. "Kinda pretty nice" is 1/4..
Right??
He seems like such a chill guy
I wanna hang out with him
definitely. I would wanna work at the restaurant where he works :)
+Klára Dědková He's chill like fresh fish.
+Mr.Green i bet good sushi takes dedication
+Mr.Green I know that when I first started learning how to make sushi I was 5 or 6 and helping my parents. I'm 21 now and still only can execute only some simple rolls and even still overcook the rice sometimes (i make sushi a few times every week)
I like how he rates the sushis without giving any sympathy points. No 2 star minimum, goes as far as giving negative stars. Also tells you he's a professional who knows his flavors.
He's so humble and nice, I love it.
I agree with the chef; if you want a quick meal on the go, get a burger or a sub. If you want sushi, go to a sit-down place and let a chef make it for you fresh.
Unless, you know the sushi chef in wholefoods and she is willing to make it fresh for you ;p
Or you can eat whatever you want
idk I honestly love trader joe's sushi as like a mid day snack
Or go to sushi stop
What if you want quick sushi
he is so sweet aww

+Jack Mehoff you're *
+Masahiro Watanabe "you are" and "you're" mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably.

for example:
you are on RUclips.
you're on RUclips.
who's going to be on RUclips tomorrow? you are.
who's going to be on RUclips tomorrow? you're. (wrong)
I can't see their comment though. I think they deleted it. I don't know 😇
Chef: This is quality frozen tuna! It's pretty ok.
Gordon Ramsay: *Wot.*
Much of the good sushi you will eat in the US has been frozen to kill off parasites and ensure it is safe for eating.
Its fresh frozen LOL.
Lot of tuna will be frozen, even in Japan but it is this freezing process that is so critical in managing the quality of the fish.
Me: That looks good
Him: -zero star
Also me: -Zero star
This was the only review that seemed legit and not pretentious
I know, I stopped watching buzzfeed a long time ago because it just always feels so fake, ill-informed and a lot of things are left out. But hey, they aren't in it for the people it's a business just like any show on TV they'll do what they can to make money and that's all they care about.

I guess it's partly due to japanese culture to avoid offending other people.

It sounds like he's enjoying the food but then he's like Mmm... So disgusting!
no matter how bad the sushi tastes, its still taste good, but there are different levels of good, ranging from okay to divine.
Mmm doesn't he like mean " mmm ( yes) it's too mushy "
+Nikolaj Tuunanen he not really enjoying it but however hes asian not western he respect food aint like western people who over react to any food that they dont like
+Nikolaj Tuunanen I think it comes down to being respectful. Being a professional sushi chef you respect the food and the art of it.
+alex febrianoo being asian has nothing to do with respect, i've seen some really nasty asians before that have a foul mouth.
What is really happening is that he is a Professional Chef and most chefs respect food no matter where they are from but if its disgusting they will say negative things about it like he did.
I return here every 3 months because of how entertaining this chef is.
Edit: 5 months in I have watched this video more than 3 times but forgot to update this comment.
I remember watching this back in my senior year high school... time flies real fast.
He was in the $3 v $250 sushi episode
Yeah, just came from there too. He rated the $3 one here! Pretty nice and kinda liked it, but just 3 stars. What does he rate his own sushi? And the $250 one?! :D
anrina lol
the $3 sushi is actually pretty good quality, and you can see he indeed gave a 3 star, which is the highest among all. So this man is legit in tasting sushi.
Beetleman20 Still curious if he would rate his own sushi 5 stars though! :) And still blows my mind that for $3 you can get good quality sushi rather than something rancid, when even the negative half star sushi here probably cost at least $6-8.
i don't think so since it's logically impossible as that man will recognize his own sushi anyway. But anyhow im more interested in he reviewing the 250$ sushi XD
now thats how you eat sushi...traditionally, its supposed to be eaten in 1 bite.
missmixie327 Yes sometimes I feel strange when I see people eat it in a couple bites.. I don't say anything but still it feels strange.
Yeah seriously...there's this one white girl at my school who always brings sushi to lunch and eats in like 2-3 bites. WTF THATS NOT HOW YOU EAT IT
Pikminrepic actualy you can eat sushi with chopsticks, the right way isn't only with the hands
***** That's the thing; a decent sushi chef makes sushi just the perfect size for one bite. And all that flavor can be tasted at a time. That's why it's best to go to sushi restaurant :)
missmixie327 Wait, you mean there exists people who don't eat them in a single bite? That's kinda the reason they are the size they are...
Just the fact that he ate the whole thing I would have taken a small nibble and spit it out...This guy is a legend for that
Same! I went to this place with “tempura rolls” but they basically just put in frozen shrimp and breadcrumbs that weren’t even cooked and I just couldn’t…i had to spit it out. My hometown is by the sea so maybe I just got used to “fresher” ingredients or to bread crumbs actually getting cooked but I have a feeling this chef would’ve had the guts to swallow it. Props to him!
No, it's cause he's bullshitting. He's fat and loves food. The elitism is a front, he's eat a boatload of that sushi.
0 minus star is best explanation I’ve heard
This was the least pretentious of all of the "X experts try X" videos.
+GrayXephyr Definitely. I think he's right though. Sushi is definitely one of those things where you get what you pay for, I believe.
+GrayXephyr Because he's a chef so he's supposed to know the best quality. Unlike the "experts" that don't know how to cook or eat "x".
+GrayXephyr I also like the chocolatier video too! He is pretty down-to-earth.
+GrayXephyr I think that people know that the most important thing in sushi is how fresh it is. He does not have to be very mean to the cheap sushi, because people know that cheap sushi can't hold up at all to the real thing. So if he says something nice, people think "he is just being nice," not "glad that I do not have to spend a lot of money to get pretty good sushi."
Tora I googled it for you:
pre·ten·tious
/prəˈten(t)SHəs/
adjective
attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed.
This guy is so chill bring him back for more videos haha 👏
I feel like it'll be rare because he's a chef :/
Hoodini
***** i dont think you have to be gay to enjoy another mans personality
Maybe he can make his own sushi and let other people compare his and the store bought
HollieEatsLipstick I would LOVE to see him again. I can never afford real sushi, so it would be a great perspective
This guy is so chill bring him back for more videos
He seems like a chill guy- the kind of guy you can have coffee with on a Saturday morning
Why are you giving him 7eleven sushi? Are you trying to kill that guy?
Lol
In Japan, 7 Eleven sushi is ok. Haha.
+Roz Harris The country that made the dish has generally better flavor in that specific dish
It was one of the best ones he tasted
Actually 7-11 food isnt considered bad in Japan, so it is a valid test. Although 7-11 in Japan and the US/rest of the world isnt the same, at all. They actually prepare good food and they use good quality ingredients in Japan.
However this was also a video showing a chef eating cheap sushi, so 7-11 is still an option on that table.
Wait...they have sushi in 7Eleven?
+Konata Izumi This chef's name is Yoya Takahashi. He's funny.
I once went to a 7Eleven and found a whole bee hive in the doughnut pantry. Never going back.
we a mf beehive
I told u kian
Yeah , it's nice tastes authentic
Honestly, i think he is very chill unlike other while reviewing food
I honestly agree with him on the trader Joe's sushi.
I tried it once and it was the worst sushi I've ever had in my life
god same. it was awful! the overly sweet imitation crab made me want to gag.
'Ittadakimasu' '[speaks in a foreign language]' good job at doing subtitles, Buzzfeed lol
***** I just meant what's even the point in doing subtitles if they're just going to put '[speaks in foreign language]'
***** oh right sorry I didn't realise you were agreeing with me I thought you were saying 'Y U NO' etc. ironically
It's in Japanese and it's a word you say before you eat, kinda like "Let's eat!" I think it wasn't translated because there's no word or good translation for it in English.
Olle Bulle I was fully aware, which is why I knew what he was saying, I was just saying that Buzzfeed writing '[speaks in foreign language]' defeats the whole purpose of having subtitles to begin with lol
I think it basically parallels to saying "salude" or however it's spelled :P there's not really an English version for either now that I think about it
"What happened to wasabi"

well, Whole Foods seemed to get a pass. 5/10 is pretty good when you're a professional used to eating fresh and it's store-bought.
No way dude, fish can go terribly wrong if it's not fresh and high quality. And have you ever had bad sushi rice?? It's inedible. The chef's review was spot on : )
is it only me thinking this dude is very cool and laid back?

The lady in the donut review was stupid...
treespace He respects his own authoritah
Very good
Actually really fresh
Very nice rice
Salmon is really good
*2.5 stars*
Ikr lol
I go to Japan every 2 years for 2 weeks and when restaurant hunting I learned that 3 out of 5 stars is high praise from Japanese people.
He did say he couldn’t grab the rice because it was not well formed, plus the wasabi was like play-doh which is not okay. Rice is just as important as the fish itself. It’s just like the bun is just as important as the burger patty.
My japanese boss ever wrote in my review about punctuality "he is very punctual and never late" and score me 2.5 out of 5 and that the highest he gave
@@marcellinuschristian8008 LOL thats actually insane and hilarious. Its just a matter of perspective. I guess the perspective is 5 points is perfection, so 2.5 would definitely great
there is something interesting abt this video ive watched it for like 40 times and i keep coming always to watch again

Yeah... I am frequently skeptical about the "experts" they bring on. Especially since most of the time the crap they're judging is pretty obvious to anyone with a half decent palate.
Even if they are 'experts' the stuff they cover tends to be things a layman could tell you.
xhoneymoonlight yeah the coffee expert one spend the rest of his life eating dirts.

This guy is awesome. He should have his own TV show teaching people how to make Japanesse food. Cool personality and informative. Should call his show "5 🌟 Sushi".
I'd rather he not. The producers would wring it of so much life and fatten it up with so much of that American-flavor dramatization that's so polarizing.
