Then there's the last one ice age 6

There is a 6?
@@ShazeemKhan Yes. But it's a spin-off movie about Buck
Whatever your thoughts on Ice Age, it's hard not to get emotional at Blue Sky Studios' final video of Scrat eating his acorn. The little critter earned it after 20 years.
In my opinion they just need to bring back the humans from the first movie. There is a reason why the first movie was nominated for an oscar. It was the most realistic and it had heart and was actually heartwarming and emotional sometimes. The sequels were all enjoyable and fun, with great characters and entertaining but lacked the heart of the first movie like the cave scene or the ending when they returned the baby to his father
The irony of this is that post-IA5's release, one of the directors had made a post on Twitter replying to a fan asking what happened to Roshan (the baby), saying he knew and that it'd make a "great movie." Unfortunately, however, IA5 flopped so any plans for bringing back Roshan/the humans is DOA now, especially with Blue Sky now closed, but I always wanted the humans back, too, in the sequels cos the importance of the humans/Roshan in IA1's story is what gives IA1 its heart and why, like you said, it got nominated for an Oscar. I also just feel, that _if_ the humans had remained a part of the sequels, they would've been amazing sequels/stories, instead of these tonally off continuations that don't honour IA1 nor sought to build off it at all becos Roshan, Runar (his father) and Diego still had some loose ends wrt Diego and the humans that could've been further explored instead of just being unceremoniously dropped!
Compleatly agree.
My thoughts exactly 💯 😎. I get why people like the third Ice Age the best but the first film I think did well in being the amalgamation of Shrek and Monsters Inc that it was. A laidback adventure film with some dramatic weight to it, which I think made it stand out amongst other animated films at the time 🤔.
These sequels are so far removed from that first film, that the most obvious idea for a sequel (i.e. having the baby grow into a hunter and being conflicted about hunting the trio that looked after him) is just never explored or even considered 😑.
with how buck came back in this i actually wish the baby & his tribe came back.(with how much heart he gave to manny helping form their huge herd & with how humans dealt with the stuff manny, sid & diego went through in those movies outside possibly the dinosaurs and how better the animation got.)
would've loved in continental drift ellie and peaches ran into him grown up telling them about his adventures, instead of the minion hamsters manny's group met his tribe on that island or maybe in collision course they help make the cannon to launch at the asteroid actually inventing in the process(maybe with scrat in the ufo comically getting it stuck in the cannon being enough force to completely destroy it.)
Agreed
I think this quote from American Beauty sums Ice Age 3-5 up.
"This (3) will be the high point of my day. It's all downhill from here."
James Bond went to space, Power Rangers went to space, Jason Vorhees went to space, Call of Duty went to space, Fast & Furious went to space, and so has Ice Age.
Don't forget the Leprechaun and Pinhead
Even Star Wars went to space

I hope that Doug eventually reviews the Buck Wild spinoff, just to hear his thoughts. They really should have stopped after the third movie.
Agreed, honestly I take that & the christmas special as my headcanon ending to this stinker.
Yes! 3 was a good stopping point. 4 was underwhelming, and 5 is just Bleh!
I wonder if he might get to the Scrat spinoff too. A fair sum of shorts on Disney plus I think have gone untapped so far.
Should have stopped at 1 to be honest.
I thought the fourth one was all right compared to the first movie in the third one yeah it didn't even come close
Fun Fact: Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Shangri Llama) blew out his voice on his first day of recording because he was yelling so much.
I like how you’re very calm reviewing this movie compare to everyone else when it was released. When Ice Age Collision Course came out, movie goers had gone extremely INSANE with how much they hate that movie & finally got tired of seeing Blue Sky making more Ice Age movies after that. 😅 when I saw the movie at home, because I just liked to find out if it’s really the bottom of the barrel of every Ice Age movie… in my own eyes, it is. 💩
Does Zaid Magenta/Mis Anthropony ring a bell?
That's what you'd expect from someone who didn't grow up with Ice Age and only liked one of the installments.
They where idiots to think they could please fans that way and I would be upset with the one who directed the movie
I honestly always wanted the humans to come back. Because they seam to go extinct & and NONE of the animals wonder about that or question where the humans went. I always wanted the baby from the first movie to come back as a grown man, a hunter, who's hunting Manny, Sid & Diego. Wouldn't that have been tragic?
A bit dark for a kids franchise
"Hopefully the last one"
Laughs in Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
I’m not gonna lie, when I used to be afraid of catastrophic dictates like asteroids, I would watch his movie as a comfort movie as well something that helps boost my optimism and hope
It better be the last one. They gave Scrat a perfect send-off in a little segment they released before Blue Sky Studios shut down.
The fifth and last Ice Age film. Definitely not everyone's favorite film in the Ice Age franchise and not the most strongest, but it does have some scenes that I did enjoy especially the ending song.

The best thing about this movie is that is was so bonkers insane at this point, it actually lead the creators to re-evaluate where things were with the franchise and wanted to go back and make something more akin to the first film.

Hey Doug! Great to see another Disneycember video from you!
I can’t imagine the amount of torture this film was for you. Unfortunately, there’s still a few Ice Age related media you still need to watch to complete the franchise.
Also, watch and review the “LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” for your Christmas Day video.
Remember when Ice Age was about... the ice age? Now we have cliche sitcom plots like forgetting anniversaries and Dads not liking their daughter's boyfriend.
Man I agree with everything Doug is saying here, as all of his points where my first thought after finally seeing this and the fourth film this year. Both of which definitely feel like obligatory sequels.
These last two films clearly take a lot of inspiration from the Madagascar films, and I can't help but feel this what those could have become had they continued past the 3rd one.
Lastly, I get why people like the third Ice Age the best but the first film I think did well in being the amalgamation of Shrek and Monsters Inc that it was.

Me back when this movie came out: "Stop making Ice Age movies Blue Sky!"
Interestingly, the first Ice Age film introduced a UFO. Although it was one in a block of ice for a few seconds with the baby giving "Live Long and Prosper", they might've thought it would connect with Scrat finding one in Ice Age 5. Technically, this isn't the "last" one when we got "The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild". This was meant to be a pilot for an Ice Age TV series, Disney made it a Disney + exclusive "movie" after acquiring the rights to Blue Sky studios. Depending on whether it did well (I think it was panned by critics), there was mention of another Ice Age film in development. As long as there are fans who will love and spend money for it, they'll always make more movies as well as content in the Ice Age franchise.
"It's not the worst film, but it's... hopefully the last film."
*Narrator:* "It was not, in fact, the last film."
It says a lot that even the fans who liked this film series disliked this film
It’s the weakest in the franchise but I don’t dislike it
Well, judging by spin-off, it seems like even creators understood that Buck is the best character
Honestly liked this one! a fun time!

I would like to see one more Ice Age thats more serious than 2-5.
Keep the original three characters as their are towards the end of their lives and they find the child of the kid they saved from the first movie. After a whole story of Manfred stubbornly tracking down the family since he hasn’t seen his own kids in a long time. they find the father is no other than that kid all grown up. There’s an emotional reunion and goodbye and the story ends.
Sounds cool.
Ice Age 5 is one that I find the second funniest and I do enjoy it for that. Like I said I’d fight to defend this franchise with all I got but I recognize the faults like too many characters or that not all arcs have a traditional beginning, middle, and end. I just don’t mind as much and really care for these guys
It's kinda crazy that you're giving these films a more lukewarm response when I'm so used to online critics ripping them apart which is honestly so refreshing
This is the one that made me think "Yeah, this is a cash grab".
And i've watched all Ice Age films up till 4!
When the animation gets better, but the franchise doesn’t.
Prepare for the sixth one. So bad that makes this movie a masterpiece
Ironic how the animation, evolves beautifully with each new movie, and yet the plot gets downgraded.
“Hopefully the last one”
Nope, that Buck Wilde spin-off short film you probably saw while scrolling through the movies on Disney+? It’s not a Buck Wilde short film spin-off, it’s the definitive sixth movie in the franchise. You are obligated to watch that one at some point unfortunately.
Doug: Hopfully the last one
Disney+: nope
I'll never get over the fact that they didn't make Neil De Grasse 'Bison' and went with a weasel.
I'll never get over the fact they included such a contrived guest star in a movie that was already insultingly dated.
I remember watching most of these in my younger years in theater and thoroughly enjoying each one. I especially loved the witty, oddball jokes; most of all Scratch going to acorn Heaven and the Glorious Food song in the second movie. I don’t know if I’d love the movies as much watching them again at this age but if they entertained young Jacob then that’s good enough for me.

I wonder what Doug thinks of Ice Age 6: The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild
Let's face it. This movie was only made to give Sid a girlfriend because everyone else had one.
This movie is when Ice Age really jumped the shark! Or going to outer space, the equivalent of when declining franchises try to do something gimmicky!

I used to think this was the best Ice Age movie for some reasons 😂
I swear if we end up with a sixth Ice age movie, PLEASE Bring bring the human back into the story as an adult reuniting with Sid, Manny and Diego. Let it come full circle
Ah yes, the last ice age movie.
Definitely the final entry to the franchise.
The one in which they stopped making ice age movies.
They never made a follow up, and they definitely didn't release it to Disney+
Nope. This was it.😊
Every time when the suit of the acorn breaks, i go: A family picture!
Doug: "It's not the worst Ice Age." Gotta disagree with you on that dude. It's definitely the worst one. Great-looking but that's about all I can give it.
IDK, when we start introducing UFOs, a 'Fountain of Youth' hippie oasis, and meteors being attracted to magnetic rocks on earth, I think we _may_ have had *enough.*
That's actually how I felt when I saw this flick.
Will always remember taking my Grandparents to see these movies, my grandma in particular loved these movies
I know these are animated movies about prehistoric creatures in/around the Ice Age who normally don't talk, nor would predator and prey live together, but the more these movies went on, the more unrealistic they became. Stay with me, what I mean is that despite the antics the characters went on, their movements were still more or less realistic and made sense to what kind of animals they are. Manny is a Mammoth, he's big, strong, and moves slow. Diego is a Saber Tooth Tiger, fast hunter with expert tracking skills. But in this movie, the son in law, another Mammoth, moves way too fast and energetic, like he doesn't weigh hundreds of pounds. Plus he sings "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark"... how does he know that song? And the humans are just... gone from the franchise after the first... and none of the animals question it.
Its about time you talked about Crash and Eddie the TWO most irredeemable characters in the Ice Age franchise and you're right these two overstayed their welcome by now but wait until you see them again in Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.
I wouldn't hold my breath this will be the last one. Rumors persist of number six in the future...
When the first trailer came out, my younger brother said “that’s not funny, they’re all gonna die!”
When the second trailer came out, he flatly said “let the asteroid hit”
There one other film in the series. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. It came out in 2022, I think. None of the original voiced actors returned for this one.

I’ll never forget summer 2016 going to see this with my buddy since we had nothing else to do and had some nostalgia for Ice Age. To this day still the only movie I’ve walked out of (watched Suicide Squad instead lmao)
I grew up with these movies; I find the first one to be the one I can make the best case for, it certainly felt the most dramatic and serious and I really gave it props for that. The second one I thought was a good continuation leaning more into the comedy, it was definitely the one I watched the most. The third one I did not laugh at whatsoever, and I did not care about the story at all. The fourth one I just figured the writers just said "Screw it, let's just do what we want" so I can't call it good but it had me laughing hard. When I saw the commercials for the fifth one, I threw up my hands and said "I'm done now." This was ICE AGE IN SPACE! to me and not only could I not take that concept seriously at all, I couldn't bring myself to laugh at even the commercials of Scrat. No anger, no disappointment that this is where it came to, just a sense of finality
For a franchise that I was going along fine with all the way through the fourth one, enjoying into my adult years, it's amazing how all it took was 5 seconds of Scrat in a spaceship for me to just cut all ties. I have had no interest in this last movie since it was announced, and I don't think I'll ever want to sit down and watch it. I'd see it as a waste of time unless I had a kid who really wanted to finish the franchise
i read somewhere there was a scrapped film that had the herd defrost in a museum modern day. i found that 10 times more interesting than whatever this was
The best Christmas gift yet: Channel Awesome finally got around to reviewing my most hated movie of all time! ❤
I legitimately walked out within the first 30 minutes of seeing this 😂

I love it when Doug pokes fun at himself :P
I was not expecting him to roast "To Boldly Flee" in this review.
By the third movie I just realized what the strategy for those movies were, they would make an unrelated short film and then make a movie version of said short film with the excuse the short was a 10 minute trailer
Why are the scenes of the squirrel not actually related to the movie? Because they're scenes from the short film, they edited two different sequences together just because scrat had to be in the movie or otherwise it wouldn't be ice age
Ice Age stopped at 3 Movies, we don't talk about 4, 5, and 6.
I would personally say it stopped at 1 but 3 would be a decent way to end it there.
I remember that this film taught me that not all movies are good. Like, I remember enjoying the rest of the saga fine, but this was where I draw the line.
there's a few others, but they center on one specific character like Buck and Scrat, but that's it after that. Blue Sky studios eventually just created an animation of Scrat eating the acorn.
