For sure! So, Alexis Ohanian co-founded Reddit back in 2005, and it quickly became one of the most popular social news aggregation sites. He’s really into community building and empowering people through technology. Outside of Reddit, he’s invested in a ton of startups and has been an advocate for internet freedom and social issues.
I think our social medias have the responsibility to keep their platforms cruelty free - easily accomplished with AI & humans - where we don't just dig at each other's wounds but polish the gems we are. .
just watching this very interesting episode, and 17 min in ,Alexis had mentioned that we will crave live performances at the theatre. I was lucky to be born in the late "50s which means I was 22 when the 80's began. I saw so many live concerts - Pink Floyd, Genesis. Queen, James Taylor, etc. The other night, I got tickets at a theatre and attended an Eagles tribute band. It was wonderful, they were great !it reminded me of something I would do almost every weekend. It's funny, the drummer sounded exactly like Don Henley yet he was maybe late 20's. Here is something I hadn't done in maybe 3 decades, and Alexis' premonition was just proved by me at this theatre. I am so happy to hear that at least this part of humanity will exist in the future.
Will technology be used for our best or worst? That is the question. If we choose good, we grow, fly, sing. If we choose badly, we crawl down to the darkness. What humanity do we foster?
it would be nice if there was a platform, or internet for kids, also for a testing ground, where kids together with their parents can test certain scenarios before using internet without guidance. Scenarios such as getting a scam message, downloading files, what websites to visit, a stranger asking for photos, or pretending to be someone else. just so that they can practise in a safe and controlled environment how to deal with these issues. We got internet as adults, they got them as kids. and completely blocking them just isnt feasible, but making them knowledgeable on how to defend themselves and know how to behave on the internet will be such an important skill for them to learn.
Should have asked what happend to the other co founder that helped make reddit, stuff is crazy. Early reddit, we seen some sh!t, still have to search new, to find the goods, before they take it down. Reddit used to be good too before that.
Anyway nice podcast meanwhile not all views and content that contradicts your beliefs are to be called as " spams". Not all we dont like are scammers.🤨
I was enjoying this until he said 'one day God willing I'll be a billionaire'. Why would anyone want to be a billionaire when there are so many starving people in the world. Billionaires are greedy people!!
I love your podcasts and I listen to your advertisements because it brings in money. Can you make them stop and lead onto your podcast, because I need to stop my workout or listening because I need to stop and fast forward.
Very good interview. He speaks so smoothly and doesn't say um. I love what a family man he is.
The third question at the end was pure gold. Thank you to both of you
Thank you for watching!

The average american reads at a 6th grade level and believes really hateful shit. What are you on? I'd like an oz.
Imagine anyone trying to filter an American. Oh the mayhem that would ensure.
