Why You SHOULDN'T Buy This Cheap Techwear Outfit | H&M Review

- Fast fashion brand H&M launch a few products designed to appeal to the techwear aesthetic whilst including a few utility-focused features; a square cargo pocket with multiple subdivisions, and the 'Water Stop Tech' material. The extremely low prices might make this appeal to bargain-hunting techwear fans, but if you have a genuine interest in this style (and in fashion generally) there are better options elsewhere.

Persona 5 OST
When I first saw these coming up I wanted to give H&M a chance. I went to one of my local shops and checked out these exact pieces and instantly said: No, this is not even worth trying. Thanks for going through the pain and especially sweat to show that unfortunately H&M just, as you said, ripped off Nike with a quality that no one should bother wearing imo.
how about the pants, to be exact?
tbh its kinda what acronyms been doign with some of its pieces, nothing wrong with this outfit imo, just need to go a a size up..
Bro the dance number in the breathability section is literally fire
😎 🕺
but fire isn't waterproof 😎
ACG MEANS ALL COPIED GEAR. AND ALL COPIED GEAR MEANS ALL COPIED GEAR
😭
and all copied gear means no one gets left behind.
I was expecting Ant to pull out a sandwich from that square pocket
(The PS4 joke was perfect too tough)
I love how every video has the captions and memes, these make the video much more fun to watch than a normal clothing review
Came from insta story antwon
Yooooo gang 👊
Man I got the the ACG cargos for $20 at the outlets. You can get way better entry level stuff at a much better price point if you look around enough.
I bet your size small
I'm jealous 😭
$20 is a steal, niiiice
life saver bruh
I'm lookin for it every day bro, hate it to live in germany, always sold out ;~;
these pants got me into techwear, i wasnt that educated on the fashion just yet so i picked the first affordable water resistant cargo pants i saw. definitely going to be getting some better pieces down the road! but if im totally being honest these arent as bad as the video states and u can definitely make some tech outfits with them
Uniqlo still has the mallcore tech fits on lock with Blocktech. To this day I still think it’s the best bang for your buck “tech” line.
Yeah the blocktech jacket is entry level but gives so much bang for the buck
What about heattech cargos G?
This channel deserves more subscribers
I spit my coffee as soon as you said akon here - that aside, great video as usual Antwon. I just started experimenting with Hamcus apparel and I am incredibly impressed
You mean you didn't believe I was Akon? 😭
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying Hamcus, really cool to see their stuff is being picked up more in the community
I just copped the waterproof shell for 20 bucks on sale. I think for the aesthetic alone as someone trying to get into techwear it was worth it for that price. I am going to be able to get my first techwear outfit for about 50 bucks and see if I like the aesthetic before going deeper.
Brand that I like but never see anywhere is Holden Outerwear. They’re a Jacket and Pants brand from California. They’ve got some Cool Jackets, the Sanders is my Favorite, as well as Parkas and Anoraks. (Their older stuff is cooler) Plus they’ve got actual performance fabrics like Stotts Corkshell and etaproof, as well as PTFE (What Goretex is made from)
@9:22 those recognisable features to a style such as large pockets for techwear is referred to as 'anchor points' by designers. If you wanted to design a gun it needs to feature a trigger and a grip to look like one -
no breathability is the dealbreaker. i’ve had bad experience over a decade ago with non-breathable ski pants and a budget non-breathable ski jacket. found out why it was on sale. it may look good but it has to breathe.
Great review Ant. The fit looked decent but then the deep dive really proved that they weren’t necessarily worth it. Even as an entry piece.
I was considering these... Thanks for the video, now I know I dont want them!
Besides, H&M Imo has really good cotton cargos.
Tried the Parka version. It is loose fit. Nice fit for me. But very hot because they don't have any ventilation at all because of the thin tarpuline type material inside. Should have put vents on front and back plus holes below the armpit. if they did that, it would be a hit. Might wait for the sale on this.
Very helpful video , I’m starting to get involved with this style and saw this ones at my H&M as an alternative to something expensive , thanks to the video and being such a great mentor for this fashion style
Thanks, glad you found it useful!
after waiting way to many weeks, these pants finally came in the mail. I put em on and my legs IMMEDIATELY start sweating lol I returned them right away. ALSO i bought my true to size and theyre wayy too baggy
8:27 That panda pullout xD
The trousers and long jacket is amaZing. It looks great. I am very happy with my purchase. And i got them on sale
Smashing upload as always, Adamandtheants
I picked up the AW19 Cargos the H&M derivative is very obviously based on and they're absolutely great. Fit wise, crop is perfect, dropped crotch is just right and the utility is great. Watch the size though if you're gonna pull the trigger, I'm a 34 waist and the M is just right. Cheers 👊😀
Digging that new light in the background!
Thanks! Gives the background a lot more personality I think, gonna mess around with using it for some product photos/footage too
Techwear more like tech where?

I wish Nike ACG would return to their AW16 designs specially with the cargos. Most of what I see now is baggy stuff and the tapered designs that I do see leave a lot to be desired.
I think everyone wishes we could have old Nikelab ACG back 😭
@@ThisIsAntwon I feel like I missed out on the golden age of Techwear.
Bershka also currently has some techwear-looking pants. Maybe check those out.
Good looks but no functionality.
Not sure if you’ve made a video on this yet but, it’s be cool to see a video on budget aesthetic jacket shells. I recently got an all black marmot magus shell for $150 and I love it, it’s super comfortable and has the classic tech look. It’d be cool to see which ones you’d recommend
I think there's one from a while back but a topic that needs an update for sure
They went through the effort of taping seams on a material that simply does not breathe. What's the point of a waterproof jacket if you're going to be soaking wet regardless?
I know right, terrible!
Ooof... that H&M silhouette is just ghastly, garbage bag fashion... I know fast fashion is meant to be disposable, but I think this is just taking the piss :P - ACG stuff almost always goes on sale, and as someone who has a pair of said ACG cargos I must say they didn't copy enough. As usual thanks for taking the hit so no one else has too.
Great review!! By the way, have you tried the Wolfksin Techlab outfits? They are like a streetwear/techwear division of Jack Wolfskin, which is an outdoor apparel company.
damn 1st keep up the content antwon
No u arent first
Ayy thanks man!
If I'm been honest I like techwear but I'm not bothered about performance as long as it looks good and is decently comfy that's fine by me
"When Frogg Toggs transitions into street style"
My frogg toggs rain jacket fits insanely weird but the function is amazing. Its super short with baggy sleeves and almost like bat wings under the armpits
@@travisjohn5978 Sounds like they are still a better option than H&Ms
If someone wants to cosplay techwear once in a while, they might be happy sweating it out in these. Anyone who genuinely wants to explore this as a style/fashion niche, then it's worth saving and getting what they actually want. It's a better long term strategy to being satisfied with your wardrobe.
I neeeded this thank u :)
No worries! Glad you found it useful
Great video antwon!
Thanks!

Where were these in my middle school days?
what is the name of that crewneck your wearing?? looks sick!
thank u marie antwonette
No thank YOU 😍
Zara has also a few pieces in their new collection which are kinda 'techy', you could also check these out.
nice profile pic
yeah and if you do want something baggy you prob dont want them to look like these pieces.
zara has been making some techwear type stuff too for a year or so now. some of it looks pretty cool too but i have no idea about the quality. they also have some faux milsurp stuff that looks cool as well but costing like double or triple to real milsurp lol.
like others have said stick to some lower end stuff thats quality and or buy USED.
I'd guess the Zara stuff is a bit better but who knows really. Definitely agree there, used at this price point will get you better stuff for sure
Me personally I find they're clothing comforting and its a lot easier to find a good fit. I bought a pair but mine don't have the bottom side cargo pockets.
Great video, yet another reason for me to avoid fast fashion! Have got checked out Orbit Gear's ADV AXIS sling? I have one on my M100 (also black foil!) and it works great
Whatever you buy, if you want it to last for years, avoid anything elastic like cuffs and elastic draw strings etc. Everything elastic do not last.
Damn, I wish I saw this comment before my purchase. Oh well, for future references tho Cheers!
Can you do a video on blacktailor cargo pants
Just my opinion, by I think people should completely disregard H&M's attempt on techwear and just straight up jump to the more affordable, but still good quality brands.
Which ones?
Please name some brands
I went to the vans store recently and saw they had a line of clothing called supply 66, kinda looks like a mix of techwear and gorpcore that might be a good affordable alternative
What do you think about work wear cargo pants? I got some from Duluth Trading. They are treated to repel water(though it seems like it stops working after a few washes). I like the durability, storage, and freedom of motion features.
I visited zara today they also have techwear clothing
love the robot dance
🤖 BZZT. THANK
Would you be able to check into techwear offered by Zara? If you search “technical” term on their website, you will get to see quite a many offerings.
Hey have you done ROMWE/ZAFUL/SHEIN tech wear? If you haven’t I think you should. I have recently gotten some from ZAFUL and there are many more I want to get, I’d like to see you reaction and opinions on them. Thanks
I've seen those zip around pockets on pants I saw in may
I like that they are black. Maybe if we just think of it as a rain suit with cargo details? Are there techwear grails that you want and can afford but can't get your hands on? List please!
Even then I'm not sure I'd want to wear it!
Yeah definitely - I'm on the lookout for the white ACG 2-in-1 and some nice LF1s
never heard of techwear till today, but this looks like fishing clothing, throw a Daiwa logo on it and your set :)
I purchased the H&M water repellent parka and I have no idea how to use the suspenders on it. It is detachable.
I managed to get those ACG pants at a Nike outlet for 20 bucks. I’m not capping 20 dollars
Hey antwon what do you think about Every Stich Considered?
seconding the question. It's most definitely picking up from AAE (easy to notice by looking at the shorts and pants, they're very characteristic) but they went in an extremely interesting direction, both more "wearable" and dipping its toes in some nikelab acg pieces (like the shirt jacket). The fisherman pants are also pretty interesting. I'm extremely hype for it. There's the whole thing with that video of Samuel Ross talking with nike designers about it too, dunno if he has any involvement in it though.
Looks cool enough and I was very interested...until I saw the prices. Honestly nearly £500 for a hoodie is pretty outrageous, and at that price there are SO many options for 'high quality basics' that I'm not sure who they're for exactly. That said if they end up in the sales I'd definitely be keen on picking something up - the fisherman pants in particular look like one of the nicer pieces
I feel like this would be great for photos or for quick trips but, not suitable for all day everyday use.
I saw these pants wasn't impressed. I'm much more impressed with what Zara has made in comparison. In fact I've seen some Zara techy type stuff thats worth wearing. I purchased a slim fit button down overshirt ( appears as a button down mostly with side pockets ) , super stretchy and water repellent. I would say it's nicer than the closest arcteryx item I have to it in comparison.
Antwon, im just getting into techwear i really love the look and the fact that its really not mainstream. when i watch your videos and im usually like "omfg thats siiiicckkkk!" then proceed to the site. then i realize that its from 150- 400 dollars... im not made of money m8. can you review the Yugen Theory code windbreaker?
That looks like a dropshipping reseller - just know that you would get what you pay for from them. On a site like dhgate, taobao, aliexpress you can probably find the exact same thing. It won't be made of top quality materials.
Alas quality don't come cheap, you'll have to make compromises here and there with cheaper stuff
aw yeah dat bass in the background
I have to say I really don't like fake back pockets. My joggers which are originally priced at $148 but I got them on clearance at Sierra Trading Post for $29 had a fake back pocket but the weird thing is that when you look inside the pants there's an actual pocket pouch but I there's no way to access the back pocket. Anyways this was helpful. It's very difficult to find decent quality clothes for cheap
I’ve bought pants that have the back pocket just sewn shut and you are supposed to just cut the thread to open it. I think it’s to keep t he pockets looking crisp and flat until you buy it, or maybe just being lazy haha. So yea, see if you can just cut it open, I bet that’s what these pants here are supposed to do too.
@@phylumgrinder277 Oh okay I'll try that. Thanks for the help
These ones literally don't have a pocket there, but yes in most cases (particularly with menswear stuff like suits) they're stitched to keep their shape and can be opened up
@@phylumgrinder277 Yep this. You'll find the same thing on stuff like suits.
antwon, have you ever ordered from Harsh and Cruel? their stuff shows up on instagram algorithm for me but i've been hesitant to order from them
I haven't I'm afraid nor have I really seen anyone wearing it so can't offer much of an opinion! Some of their graphic stuff looks fun and at least they're presenting something different to a lot of the stuff in that price range.
👍 for the cav empt
What shoes are those
I would like an updated comprehensive budget techwear guide though.
But where should I buy good quality tech wear clothes?
I still don't know all that much about fashion and styling but I've found that drawstring ankle cinches reeally do not help with giving the aggressively tapered look unless the pants are perfect length. I have a pair of the Rothco cargos and because of the excessive length, the ankle cinches almost just make me look wonky.
True, there's only so much they can do. No substitute for good tailoring that's for sure. Especially if the rest of the pant is quite wide they just cause too much of a contrast
@@ThisIsAntwon lmao really though, if your pants are too wide they just end up looking like parachute pants
Speaking of cheap stuff, is it worth buying on enshadower? Or is it just garbage that's going to break quickly?
Not worth your time trust me
what bag is that? looks interesting.
It's from Orbit Gear - can't remember the exact model but it's from a couple of years ago
Not really a fan of techwear but A Cold Wall does it best imo. Techwear is cool but I’d just rather buy other stuff, avant - Garde stuff, like Rick Owens
A Cold Wall is super cool, would love more of their stuff
what about try pupil travel soon
The water resistant factor is absolutely horrible in these.. wearing these pants at an outdoor mall for an hour or two (keep in mind I live in Florida) was hell. My ankles were sweaty and my legs were so happy when I got back home. Definitely won’t be looking for any water resistant tech anytime soon.
I don’t like pants, but I like these hoodie and jacket
Edit: I don’t buy it online, I find shopping, “H&M”
I saw the jacket in the store, stopped, touched it and...that was just a huge no this isn't what I want to wear when I say I want my clothing style to be techwear it felt more urban I guess
What's the jacket at 1:04?
The parka of that series has a jacket sling...
It sucks because I hate buying clothing online. I have a weird body/leg size so 8 times out of 10, whenever I buy clothing online, it doesn’t fit the way I want it to. So I prefer buying in store so I can try them on first
Any sick waterproof sneaker for the winter that won’t break my wallet?
I swear that model is a stock photo. I've seen him on other brands of clothing.
Tbh the stuff looks pretty good, but the breathability is a no no.
Keep throwing shapes on the dance floor
Could you do a review on the boohoo man cargo pants?
They are pretty cheap and really good i got a pair a week ago
This video has real value, unlike the H&M Techwear.
I'm just gonna go with some Rothco BDU's and get them tapered
Rothco has to be the worst manufacturer I’ve ever experienced... blehh
@@Parabellumjohn215 but it's actual military surplus so I can get it tailored and customized to my liking. It's also cheaper than most brands and I don't get overwhelmed trying to pick a brand for techwear
Could you try buy very popular products ( like the famous cargos from AliExpress) I don’t know if it’s worth buying !!
The pants are a copy of nike acg cargo
its hilarious bc i just copped the ACG cargos for 60 bux literally the day before i watched this. paid an H&M price for a legit pair of ACG's anyways haha
MUCH better pickup, hope you like 'em!
@@ThisIsAntwon for a third of the price? Hell yeah I enjoy them haha
Cargos are kinda overrated in Techwear.... if someone only wears cargos you know they’re a noob
Just get Uniqlo, Riot Division, Nike ACG, Nike Lab. These are quality clothing that aren’t Acronym prices
It depends, I for example can't imagine my life without extra cargo pockets for stuff cuz my top pockets are already fileld with phone, wallet and keys so I put everything else in the cargo pockets.
I'd agree there, I love a nice pair of cargos but plenty of great pants out there which don't have cargo pockets.
@@simishyde288 get a sling bag.... I’m not saying don’t wear cargos.... but too many people getting into techwear think it’s just cargos
Honestly wouldn't spend more than £30/£40 on these, I can't afford expensive stuff anyway (no ACRNOYM sadly) but these don't even look worth their price tag given the material.
I bought the pants when this come out.
I tought i will try it.
After 1 hour in this pants i was soooo sweaty that i must go home and get a shower.
Its horrible
it kind of looks like ACRNM
What shoes are those?
nike acronym prestos
@@aniro5204 thank you i looked for like 10 min through the comments
@@proxlite8728 np 🙂
Im glad i didnt spend for these even tho it was my first chance buy a water resistand cargo in my budget
Those ACG cargos are horrible too. Such a strange fit and the material is just not nice.
liked for the dancing
they really should just offer this in bright yellow to match its non-H&M brethren
