- I wondered why I had so few caterpillars on my Kale when Large Whites are landing on it to lay eggs all day long. Then when sitting nearby I saw wasps providing me with free pest-control and realised again just how vitally important they are.
Love seeing the parasitoid wasps in my garden, once diversity is up they come and add some really cool dynamics to the ecosystem
I didn't know this about wasps! I'll be telling all my allotment neighbours, so Thankyou x
☺️…they also eat Black-fly and a whole host of other ‘pests’ too. X
That was a great bit of footage. Excellent hunters I watch them flying at spider webs to draw the spiders out, then they get the spider, sometimes it can be a big fight that they don’t always win and the spider gets lunch. Great insects.
I love wasps but not sure I don’t want to eat one even as a spider! LOL
Thanks for the great video love the method of leaving dirt in bag... love it thanks
We have ‘grow bags’ here in the UK, not sure if they are in the states? Basically the bags sold full of compost and you just cut out the pre-marked holes and plant, easy-peasy. :)
@@Calastein well r bags r about the same no cut out lines I will try next year in spring. Thank you always love great ideas u have.... Thanks
Great video about the wasps, never realised they good for pests! Just a quick question, I've recently built my own solitary bee house all sanded down nicely. What can I put on the wood too protect it?
Thanks for the message, ok so ideally nothing, except a really large roof that extends far out over the face to protect it from rain, if you can’t do this then a PVA and water in a 50/50 mix is fine for the face :)
@@Calastein ok I might of wasted my time as I've already put something on the outer face of the wood already! I've used decking preserver. Will that prevent the bees for next year?
@@barrymatthews1160 if it has a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) factor it might be ok otherwise you might want to sand it off once it dries, might smell weird to the bees or even affect them otherwise?
@@Calastein It is solvent based so I presume I will sand it down and hope for the best, thanks Steve
