One of my favorite songs from WWII. I've heard it sung by many groups, but Geoff's version is by far the best.

Romantic Ballad from the late 1940s. In the BTS video, they had an adventure getting that piano that now sits in his home. Kathy's dad loves it. Geoffs looking and sounding good for a guy who didn't get any sleep the night before this shoot.

Such a soft relaxed old tine feel to this, reminiscent of piano bars, a bit jazzy but so sensitive. It was first sung in 1944 by The Mills Brothers, and is said to be the words of a soldier, still overseas. It's so beautiful and soothing. Yes Geoff does a fair bit of green screen filming to get his alters doing their thing. And ye he often holds the final consonant rather than elongating the vowel. I think it adds to the softness of the sound. And his arrangements are second to none in my opinion, wonderful juicy chords. :) Thank you for this lovely reaction.

Thanks, Daniel. You pointed out some neat bits I missed the first time around. I love the pink-purple light on the midnight blue of the set -- makes it feel like a rose-colored memory. It's so soothing.

Hanging onto the consonants rather than vowels is a Geoff habit, yes, but in this song he's following the lead of the original performance by the Mills Brothers, circa 1944. Thanks for reacting to this. As many times as I've heard it, you still pointed out things I'd missed.
There was indeed some drama in getting this piano (they ordered one, it arrived broken, then they found one nearby but had to schlepp it down two flights of stairs from the seller's apartment). But hey, at least this one is in tune, unlike the old upright he's playing in the Shenandoah video, and it now lives with Geoff and Kathy.

This was written in 1944 and sung by the Milles Brothers in the same year.
The woman is his wife Kathy. That's who he's looking at while singing.
Yes. Definitely watch the behind the scenes video. Its very interesting.
    Happy New Year Daniel🎉

To put it into more context, this was written in 1944 and was meant to be a soldier writing to his sweetheart. Also, in the Patreon release, the trio stays after Geoff is led off into the black and white world, looking at the empty piano and nodding/smiling gently. I believe the "synth" artifact you're hearing is the fact that it's being played on a digital piano.

Yeah, Geoff pretty much always holds on to the consonant. You can hear it more once you've noticed but it gives a sound that lends itself well to his bass tone. If you haven't seen VoicePlay do the Dragonborn Comes, definitely check that out. Geoff starts that off and he does the same thing where it's noticable.
This one is definitely gonna be a favorite for me. I'd never heard this song before but I felt like melted butter after hearing Geoffs version, lol. If grizzly bears were exceptionally talented, this is what it would sound like! 😂

I love a lot about this. We had the Mills Brothers album with this on it when I was young and it's easy to sing to. Geoff as lead sang almost all of this in that deep low register, purring like a cat, or a dragon. His focus was on finding out where Kathy was at any given time, as was the song. The other Geoff's sang the higher registers. It's a love song and a beautiful one. I had heard that this was written during WW2, when people were desperately hoping that time would be the only payment they would have to make.

To add another degree of difficulty, Geoff filmed this at Pattycake in front of a black curtain.

Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. I hope you had a great Christmas & I wish you a Happy New Year. Would you please please do a reaction video of Lauren Paley's cover of Ave Maria ? The full version. She is the Stairwell Siren who became famous on TikTok. I think she has the by short version on TikTok but I want the full version from her channel. She has the most beautiful voice ever.
