You may be interested in Peter Barber's analysis of this and other Geoff and Voiceplay songs. Peter is a bass opera singer and always does a lovely job of analyzing what Geoff is doing vocally.
The book he's reading is Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison the Making of a Masterpiece. Numbers on the shirts spell out their names. Jeff 05333, Geoff 43633, Daryl 32795, Jeoph 53674, and Goff 04633 on the phone keypad.
I remember when Johnny Cash went to Folsom prison and it was televised. The majority of the prisoners were wearing blue shirts like he is wearing, but the shirts that Geoff bought had red stitching and that just did not work. So Kathy took a sharpie and colored all of the little red threads black. That’s because they are very detail oriented. You can always check the credits down on the bottom of the page. You would see that it was just Geoff and Kathy this time. They were escorted in and when they went to leave there was a delay getting out. Pretty nerve-racking. The book he is reading is the autobiography of Johnny Cash. The numbers have significance. Remember when he named his clones in Way On Down and then added Daryl in Ghost Riders? Look at your phone keypad and think back to early days of texting. Hint: Daryl has the bad attitude and no sleeves. He had to learn the harmonica when he worked at Universal and played Elwood in the Blues Brothers show. He was a little rusty, but I guess those skills just don’t leave you once you learn it.
Geoff uses a 3-camera setup for the wide, mid, and closeup shots. "Landmarks" in the background are chosen to keep Geoff and his clones from overlapping. It was just Geoff and Kathy shooting this one. The prisoners are, from left to right: 05333 - Jeff, 43633 - Geoff, 32795 - Daryl, and 53674 - Jeoph. Geoff said he, Jeff, and Jeoph were released from prison, but "Daryl didn't make it out, he stayed on to be the prison cook. I guess his true passion was haute cuisine - Who knew?" Jeff is reading Cash: The Autobiography of Johnny Cash. Geoff learned to play the harmonica when he portrayed Elwood Blues in the Universal Studios Blues Brothers show. The low note in this one is an F#1. There were supposed to be more "background Geoffs" on both upper levels, but they could only access the ends and the left side as you face the video. There was originally a bridge between the two sides and Daryl was supposed to be doing pull-ups from it rather than the pushups you see in the video. Fun fact: There is a continuity error at timestamp 1:50 - Jeff's glasses are not hanging from the front of his shirt.
Always enjoy your reactions!! The thing that was most interesting here was that no Geoff was the designated tenor, baritone, bass or low bass. Each version of him sang low, low , low and I think all but sleeveless Geoff sang high as well.
#s on the uniforms names the clones based off of the phone pad's letters. Geoff = 43633, Jeff = 05333, Daryl = 32795, Goff = 04633, Jeoff = 53633 (as named in Way Down with Daryl joining from Ghost Riders in the Sky).
The book is about Johnny Cash, and the shirt numbers, if you look them up on the phone keypad they spell out the names of some of his clones, as given in Ghost Riders. Or Way Down. I expect you know that he is also providing all the music on his keyboard, but yes he also played the harmonica. And his low notes are getting lower and lower. :) And the whole team for this filming was just him and Kathy. Incredible. Well done on doing a Geoff inspired one yourself. I can commend Voiceplay's Drunken Sailor to you.
Good catch on the font! Not surprising since Geoff arranged and produced both FSB and 7NA. There was no ac and it was over 85 degrees in the prison. Between the fans, heat, and humidity, Kathy said Geoff's hair got floofy. It was just the two of them filming. She put together a fun BTS for Patreon supporters, as usual.
Peter Hollens is well known for creating videos that layer over 100 or more tracks to create intricate music creations. See the one he did with Tim Foust of Misty Mountains Cold.
The technique where he introduces more of himself is probably just what is known as masking. Any decent editor will support it, including free ones. There are other ways to achieve the effect, but I'm no editor myself.
Hi Daniel, you have a very interesting channel with very good music 👌 👌 👏 I subscribe here 👍 You could make a reaction to the video clip of Europa (Live) by the singer Monica Naranjo. She's amazing, an incredible voice. Greetings and congratulations. I leave you the link of the video in the comment below 😜👍
All the F# 1s are chest.
And yes. He learned harmonica years ago when he played Elwood Blues for a couple shows at Universal.

There's only four of them that you can see the numbers on. Goff is not distinctly visible in the video.
Kathy said Goff would never end up in prison. Lol.
No way!! That is too cool that he did the numbers like that!
I love how Geoff incorporated the sound of the gunshot when he sang I shot a man in Reno ." Come-on " is Geoff's signature phrase.

Yep, Geoff has a "Yeah" and "C'mon!" in most of his videos, especially the more recent ones.
I like the ones like in this video and "Way Down," where the Geoff saying "c'mon" is actually telling another Geoff to join him.

He has played the harmonica since 2014. (It surprised me too! 😳)
Enjoyed your reaction. You should do the Home Free version. Very different from this, but still excellent. I think you'll love it.
