Okay so Geoff and voiceplay have three different types of songs that they sing: there are the really fun ones, there are the absolutely epic ones, and then there are just the downright beautiful ones. this is definitely one of the down right beautiful ones
It's a heartfelt plea of a soldier to his GF before he has to get on the troopship heading to Europe during WW2. have tissues handy.
That's why the line "Pray that our loss is nothing but time" gets me right in the feels.
I understand that Geoff described this as a bear singing a lullaby. Sounds about right. :) So soothing and mesmerising.
The song was written during WWII and performed by the Mills Brothers. It was written from the point of view of a soldier about to go off to war, asking his lady to wait for him until he returned. Geoff said that he didn't get any requests for the song, it's just one of his favorites and he decided to do it on his own.

You mentioned it sounded like a lullaby--Geoff mentioned that he wanted this to sound like a grizzly bear singing a lullaby.
Everything about this was top tier. The vocals/backup vocals, his range, the cameo, you name it. Singers like Voice Play, Home Free, Dimash, Angelina Jordan, and the like have truly made their mark and have given today's music industry much better credibility than what I, personally, had hoped for. Not saying it's ALL bad, but, there are some that do paint a negative light. This is just my unsolicited .02 .
The level of talent Geoff has almost scarry, but magnificent too !!!!

Continuing the tradition started in Way Down, from left to right, the Geoff clones are Goff (mid-range), Jeff (high/second lead), and Jeoph, low), To put this song into more context, this was written in 1944, sung by the Mills Brothers, and was meant to be a soldier on the front lines writing to his sweetheart. Also, in the original edit, the trio stays, looking at the empty piano and nodding/smiling gently, after Geoff is led off into the black and white world. Geoff likened his lead singing in this video to a "grizzly bear lullaby."
