    Sir I have 2 queries- 1) After rooting in water can we directly plant them in appropriate potting soil or initially in a light potting soil mixture? (2 ) What about the old shoot, do we cut them or plant the complete stalk with old leaves ? Awaiting your response cause I have placed my cutting for rooting in water.

      The snipped stem will need time to grow roots. It needs to stay moist and it appreciates light so keeping them in the water until the roots grow is ideal.

    What happened to your Croton leaf propagating?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 года назад

      @Tasha, Well, I am still waiting and honestly saying, it depends on many other factors. So, I would highly recommend you to grow it from the stem cuttings as it's much faster and quicker. My Croton cuttings are in just plain water from last 3 months and they are producing way too many roots. I know, I should have transplanted them long back, but couldn't allocate time for them as I know they are super hardy. Anyway, very soon I would show the cuttings with very strong roots, thank you :-)

    There is no need to keep the plant in water for 40 days! If following this, I hope people do change water and don't end up with dengue. I took cuttings and planted them in soil. They have grown really well.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 года назад +2

      @Rajshree Nair, That's absolutely correct...and all plants can be propagated directly in Soil, no need to keep in water. It's just another experience and many people enjoy propagating plants in water (because they love to see the roots like me). Even many people propagate money plant in water...no need to do that either! Can be grown in soil directly. Gardening is joyful..so, enjoy to the fullest! Happy Gardening :-)
