Thanks Corin. Lovely group. You are correct about the Greenwood shears being sharp. I got careless a few days ago and sliced my thumb open with mine. Well on the mend now, wound closures removed, and Wife has said I can have my Bonsai tools back in a couple of days.
Really good to see your Dad's hard work still flourishing and that's all thanks to your continued care and attention Corin. Great video, thank you for sharing.
Corin I always look forward to watching your videos. You teach me a lot. Most of all you teach me not to be afraid to cut back branches and roots. When I first started off, that was scary. Thank you for sharing! Pennsylvania USA here.
@@jimp4037 hey thanks! Nice to have you on board! 😁 I’ve heard that larches and scots pines have been used heavily on reclaimed mine lands, especially in northeast PA. Do you know anything about that, or any spots to go dig?
What an impressive group. Nice to see your connection to your dad and pride in his original work. I'll now get cracking on with my larch group with a much better idea what I'm doing.
What an amazing instructional demonstration it never ceases to amaze me as to how much of the old roots you take out from the top and bottom that’s sure to look amazing in a few weeks
such cool trees individually and the planting of them together is stunning. The roots on the one in the front are simply fantastic. Thank you for sharing! I'm glad I can live vicariously through videos like this, I really am not prepared to care for and especially repot trees this large! You really put in the work!
What a stunning tree, Corin. I appreciate your casual and approachable conversation. Thanks for sharing your passion and expertise. 🙏🏽 Looking forward to more maple videos from Greenwood!🪴🍁🔥
A fantastic grouping. You can see the TLC and efforts to maintain it. Great video on repotting large groupings. I don’t use 100% Akadama where I’m located. Besides the $$$, use grits/lava/etc along with pumice and aged fir bark for well draining soil. Seems to work great here. Like your videos; keep them coming.
Thank you so much for the share ! I have a lucky man this year, When you see in the Chinese’restaurant at Haselt in Belgium 😅. For me, you’re the Master Corin ! And what a beautiful tribute to your dad, congratulations !
Loved the step by step walkthrough. Your father’s book was my introduction into bonsais 30+ years ago and so glad that his legacy is thriving in your able hands!
Great work on your dads tree group which I have admired on numerous occasions over time Corin, I had the pleasure of meeting your dad when he came to the Nuneaton bonsai club I suppose it would be in the 90s my memory is not so good now but I do remember his demonstration of styling and putting together a juniper group of trees. I have his books still used for reference. Look forward to returning to the nursery when I can.
Again nice video. Nice to see your dad's work from 30 years ago is still going strong. That certainly eats a lot of akadama haha. If your dad has planted this 30 years ago, where they smaller trees to begin with or already quite large? Greetings!
Thanks Corin (and the team at Greenwood Bonsai) the planting looks amazing. I’m still learning about trees/horticulture etc. and I noticed that the majority of the trimmed branch was healthy red, the primary branch was wood/lignified and the bit in the middle sometimes looked grey / dead.? I would have assumed this and cut the branch off (hence I’ve got a garden full of sticks, not quite). Is this therefore a branch in development between both stages, hopefully my question made sense.
At the start of the video, there is a ficus in the background (left of picture, behind the large maple in the basket) any styling videos on that one perhaps?
Hi Corin, do you not sieve your akadama? (obviously) but I guess my question is, doesn't leaving the dust in it mean you have to repot at shorter intervals?
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio That scoop of your dad’s is excellent. That’s why I love bonsai so much. I have my kids helping me now. I was actually speaking on the big green one. That thing is huge. Cheers mate.

Yet again a beautiful bonsai forest6

Truly a work of art!
This video is one of the reasons I appreciate your RUclips channel so much. Very, clear, down to earth and practical. Thanks for that! 👍
Glad it was helpful!
What a lovely legacy piece from you dad! Stunning group! aspirations 😊
For real man! 👍
Super!! I would find repotting such a fabulous large group like this a little daunting!!- Nice one Corin! 👍
That's exactly why I did this video, to show how its done.

Glad you enjoyed it
Im just about to start my first ever bonsai and i dream of this one day, i love the forest and having something like this would be amazing 🎉
Man that’s a serious root system.
Great timing, I bought a Katsura this winter, it is grafted thought so I mainly bought it to take airlayers from.
Those are beautiful cultivars!

They were about this size, but less branched and refined.
I hope the moss grows back soon. It was nice.
A great improvement to an amazing group of trees. Great to see you work on such a sentimental group close to the heart. Love the end result 🪴

Great video. Love your trees and your fabulous information. One of my favorite channels on RUclips. Keep up the great work.🎉
Thank you! Will do! Corin
Your videos are absolutely awesome. To someone new to the bonsai hobby have you ever had a tree die from a root trimming
Probably yes due to 1000's of re-pots, but VERY seldom. Any losses usually due too stretching timeframes of re-potting work.
Stunning planting
you're an inspiration! :) Thank you!
Brilliant job well done...
Beautiful!
Very interesting video.
Grandissimo!

That tiny forest looks amazing well done how much is something like this and the one in the background
I can't put a price on a creation that means so much.
What a beautiful composition. I'm just curious though, did your dad planted the tree in the same size pot or has it been up potted since? 🙂
It was in a smaller pot originally. But I put it into this one about 15 years ago.
When you don't bare root something like this how do you replenish the soil in the middle of the root ball?
Corin: "it's a two man tree"
Dave: "hold my beer"
He just yeeted that up like a bloody strongman competition 😂
😂😂😂
greetings one hobby by indonesia🙏🙏
Hi Corin, do you not sieve your akadama? (obviously) but I guess my question is, doesn't leaving the dust in it mean you have to repot at shorter intervals?
No, but I use high grade Akadama, and when first watering the dust gets washed out so no issue.
What sheers do you use?

You certainly have a lot of bonsai. How do you water them all? You're not going to walk through the thousands of trees with a watering can, are you?
Some are under automatic watering systems, some we have to water by hand.
WTF that just eat more then bag of akadama?
Yep. almost 1,5 bags
