The pilot is a beautiful pen and I'm sure it's worth every penny but as much as I'd love a proper gold nib pen I just can justify the cost. That's why I'm happy there are options like the Asvine and Jinhao. I've ordered the v126 is smoked black in fine and can't wait to use it.
Thanks for adding in if the pens post or not! I really like to post my pens and sometimes that can be a dealbreaker for me, especially on a pen this style that “should” post, unlike a Duofold style which almost never post well (but I love how they look, so I make an exception for them…the Jinhao version 😀.) I’ve always seen great reviews for the Asvine pen (of course the Pilot gets good reviews…I don’t think I’ve seen a Pilot pen get a “bad” review…except some for the Metropolitan cause they don’t like how it looks and the squeeze converter, bleh…I agree…but if you love your Metro, go for it!!) I’ve been interested in trying one (especially before the tariffs hit) and I don’t yet have a vac filler or piston…I’ve stuck with converters. I’m still new-ish to the hobby and I know it’s not that difficult or anything, I’ve just stuck with what I know and in my price point. I also want to thank you for using the same inks in both pens! It’s so hard when people do comparison reviews with different inks in the pens because pens can behave very differently depending on the ink used. Even visually, if you’re looking at a wet blue ink next to a dry green ink…they’re going to seem to write very differently! Is the Asvine a #6 nib? (I love a good nib switch as I’ve developed a love for stub italics…actually, Asvine offers their own stub nib in the ginormous C2000 wood pen with a #8 nib. I’m hoping they start offering that in their other pens as well. Appreciate the review! #heritagevsasvine
The V126 was my first Asvine, but it's also the one I had the most issues with. Something about the nib on the one that I got just skips like crazy and drove me nuts. Very smooth, at first I was really happy, but when it started skipping really bad, I got to where I never use it. And of course I did everything, completely cleaned it out, flushed the nib, try different inks (never used a shimmer in it), the whole nine. It will write well for a few minutes and then start skipping. So that one I have set aside. I have two other Asvines and I love them. I got a V200 purchased with a Bock nib and I swapped out the bock unit with an Ultra-Flex from Fountain Pen Revolution. My favorite Asvine so far is the brand new C2000 that I bought with a stub nib and it's beautiful and amazing. One of my favorite pens to date.
One of my wife’s Asvine P20 had that same nib experience. I ordered a set of their replacement nibs and just screwed in a new nib unit and was good to go.
It might confuse some viewers that the name of the Pilot is both Luxury Custom 823 and Heritage. Thanks for demonstrating how to fill the pen, though I am now the delighted owner of one with a similar fill mechanism that was returned to the vendor because the buyer filled it but didn't realize that the inner tank had to be opened. A good demonstration of #HeritagevsAsvine.
Love the advice about reusing the Asvine case! Also, I didn't know the details about the super fill technique. It does conjure images of taking some ink to the face and everywhere. But I'll have to play with that over a silicone mat. #heritagevsasvine.
I have begun acquiring several Asvine pens recently, the V200, the C2000 etc, and I have yet to be disappointed. Great writers. An Amber V126 would fit right in the lineup. #heritagevsasvine
Excellent review and comparison. I, too, have been impressed by the Asvine pens I've tried thus far (not a V126 yet). I haven't had the same experience with Jinhao. I'm a fan of Pilot for sure, so it would be interesting to compare the two pens as you've done here. #heritagevsasvine
Oh, I totally understand. It’s a mistake I made for a long time too. We fountain pen enthusiasts have so many models and numbers swimming through our heads.!
Very interesting video. I wonder if the Avsvine. is gonna hold up for 10 years the way the custom. Good tip about the case. #haritagevsasvine thanks for the info
This is a great video! I’m still pretty new and videos like this gives me some perspective when purchasing new fountain pens. Also, your camera quality is great! #heritagevsasvine
excellent comparison - a question, do you know if the nib or the nib feed unit is compatible w any standard nib/units you are aware of ? perhaps FPR or nemosine nibs ? thanks #heritagevsasvine
I don’t believe the v126 units will work with other nibs, but asvine does release some models like the V200 and the P36 with Bock nib units and the J16 that use Jowo nib units.
That pen shape seems to be common in the fountain pen world and the fact you have had that Pilot for ten years and love it says a lot. You mentioned nibs tend to form to your handwriting. Is that a good or bad thing? #heritageasvine
Most all of my vac fillers get an ink selected and that is the ink they will use forever, as they are a bit of a pain to clean. The v200 and v126 have been great pens from Asvine though.

Great comparison!👍 Keep up the magnificent work. Kudos from NYC.🗽

If I remember correctly, the Custom 823 is not a part of the Custom Heritage line. That being said, I love your channel. Keep up the great work!
You are correct. I changed the title. The Pilot names all blend together for me. Thanks for letting me know and for watching.
Oh, I totally understand. It’s a mistake I made for a long time too. We fountain pen enthusiasts have so many models and numbers swimming through our heads.!
I have been super impressed by Asvine. I bought the V200 and J16. NIbs are super smooth and pens are well built. #heritagevsasvine
My Asvine P20 impressed me from the start. Super smooth writer. The V126 looks classic. #heritagevsasvine

It is hard to say, but it seems to be made well, so I could see it lasting quite some time.

#heritageasvine
The nib adjusting to handwriting is probably more of a benefit for cursive, but I really don’t k ow if there is any sort of study about the effects.
Not a fan of vacuum fill pens (own two) but am tempted by the Asvine. #Heritage vrs Asvine

Amesome comparison. #heritageasvine
