Love seeing people who’ve mastered or practice outdated skills and techniques. Just because this is much slower and inefficient than today’s standard does not mean that it isn’t interesting and amazing. The skill to hand write like a typewriter is just pure art.
It isn't that hard (although this guy/girl is particularly skilled). It just takes a bit of practice. My normal handwriting was/is still pretty mediocre, but years ago I wanted to improve it, and so I bought a fountain pen and made a point to improve it. It didn't take long until I had pretty great handwriting. But it's very inefficient and so most people would never know I have solid handwriting when I try lol. Every now and then I'll bust out those skills if I'm writing someone a card.
@@sorenpxye it is outdated. Most people type on computers these days with x2 x3 speed. Only time when hanfwriting is useful is when taking notes in lectures, which improves knowledge retention or sth similar. Even in that case, you dont need particularly good handwriting.

It's definitely unusual seeing someone write serifs because it serves no purpose in our culture. But maybe it's because certain Asian languages are like drawings, the way their words are so incredibly complex compared to our alphabet. Every Chinese word is almost like a piece of art on its own. If someone from that culture then learns to write our letters, they simply draw what they see. For example, the way the person in this video writes the lower case 'd' and 'g' is a little odd. We don't draw a full circle shape and then a vertical line along the side. They also start a new line with a capital letter, even if it's mid sentence. This is why I believe it's not their native language but they are copying and drawing along with something. Makes me appreciate it more.
Imagine being a teacher and having to correct this person's essay I wouldn't even care if he respected the number of lines or word, I mean, this is so pleasant to see
I associate a Courier-looking typeface with "missing font" but to see it rendered by hand and at a considerable speed is really amazing. I've not seen anyone write in this style before. Really beautiful work! I would have liked to see a wide shot of the entire page to see what it looks like as a whole paragraph.
Very nice when you're perusing for asmr content and stumble across something that it's actually a skill that just so happens to sound and look satisfying.
It is indeed a Japanese ink, part of Pilot's Iroshizuku line. They're wonderful inks and I have four in my collection; murasaki-shikibu (a lighter purple), syo-ro (a dark sea green), shin-kai (a nice stormy dark blue), and ama-iro (a bright sky blue), I don't know what the exact translations are though. Highly recommended for any pen/ink enthusiast.

I love tsuki-yo ink it's so beautiful and a perfect flowing ink in my fine nibs and EFs! Most people prefer konpeki, but I prefer tsuki-yo to konpeki. Maybe the little bit of teal is the reason? It also is perfect for bad paper (student notebooks paper). It doesn't ghost and does not bleed through.
