As a child of an addict, it's not the responsibility of the family to fix an addict to the point of exhaustion whether financially, mentally or physically. Real talk, every time a family gets fed up dealing with an addict's behavior, the first thing an addict says is "no one cares, no one is ever there for me". No, we just get tired of watching the addict slowly kill themselves. We get tired of the thievery and lies. We get tired of cleaning up after the addict.
I'm sorry, but that's bullshit. The definition of family is be there for someone through whatever happens to them, and not get impatient. Either have unconditional love for your family or call them "friends" or acquaintances. If you get your tips to help someone out of addiction from watching Dr.Phil, you're most probably doing something wrong, and the addict in your family is probably right that your family is never there for him/her.

If you haven't had a family member chronically addicted to drugs, then you just can't really understand why Mariah is like this towards her sister. You can't reason with drug addicts and if they don't truly want to help themselves, then you're just wasting time and money by supporting them. As bad as it is, sometimes it's just best to cut ties.

This is also a classic situation of others (family or friends) believing that your money is their too smdh. And that because you have a lot of it you should freely give it to them. It's that specific way of thinking is how lottery winners become broke before the year is up.The only people that will fully understand this specific situation are those who have had close family members who have been or are recurring drug addicts.Everything that is currently happening to Allison are the consequences of the decisions she repeatedly chose to make. I have a brother who was addicted to drugs and my mom tried so much to put him into rehab and programs and he ended up assaulting my mom by choking her because she found his drugs hidden in my little brother's closet and she threw them away. We called the cops, and it was a hot mess. He left from our home and decided to live with his girl. Fortunately, he fixed himself up because he impregnated his girlfriend and he decided to get clean for his child. Allison needed to see her kids as a motivation to get cleaned. Mariah has no fault and has every right to not help her sister out. Its up to Allison to change for good on her own. Thats what bad decisions lead to, bad consequences.

My creep brother who molested me as a teenager won't send me $35 a month for my service animal after I told him I really need to inform his psychiatrist of the molestation in order for him to get well. I fear for any little girl that might get near him. After I began talking to him after 20 years of my completely ignoring him. He sent the money for vet bills & specialty food. He did it about 6 months till I mentioned the "incidences" he blathered on how he's blank about those years. Then stopped communicating. Maria she messed with you don't help her.
Unless you have a family member who has wasted help 500 other times, you will never get how Mariah feels. I had to turn my back on my entire family, it wasn't an easy decision, but they are all bat-shit crazy and it was causing me unhappiness.
I had to do the same with my sisters. I had to cut ties with them. Their toxicity and shitty attitudes caused me a great deal of anguish and grief over the years. I let them go, and I feel absolutely no guilt about it. Family is NOT everything.

If Allison wants the help she'll go get it herself. My mom was an addict for over 20 years and she said no matter how many times folks forced her into rehab or tried to check her into rehab she always checked herself out eventually and went back to the streets. Why? Because she was not ready to be clean period. The same goes for people who drink or even over eat. They have to be ready to make the change within themselves. From what I know of addicts and what my mom has done to me and other fams over the years...Alison is trying to play Mariah for more money. That is all this is point blank period. If Allison were ready to get clean for real we wouldn't even know about this because Alison would have checked herself into a free clinic just as my moms did when she was finally ready to quit. Mariah has helped enough. Just because Mariah is rich as fucc she is not obligated. She has already helped enough. Allison and Morgan need to take responsibility for their own lives and quit trying to emotionally manipulate Mariah for money. If Mariah gives her money, Allison will get the "fix" she needs and as soon as the "fix" fades, she'll be hitting her up for more money.
Mariah is not obligated to do anything for her sister. Allison is getting money from all of the interviews she is doing. This might sound harsh, but for someone who is suppose to be dying you would think they would be asking to rekindle their relationship and asking for forgiveness in private rather than asking for money. If it was me and my sister I would have wrote her a letter and gave it to our mom to give to her. That letter would have consisted of my apologies and my love, and I would have asked her to take care of and watch over my kids. That is what a sister who truly cared should have done. If Mariah still didn't reach out at least I would've known I tried and I would've left it at that. I wouldn't go to the media.

lovelyti2002 I am a huge Mariah Carey fan to. I don't think it's right for Allison make Mariah feel obligated to help her. I'm uncomfortable with the fact that she is labeling it as "abandonment". Obviously Allison is well aware of what type of impact the public can have on such a sensitive family situation, she'll turn on a camera and try to have the public on her side. I feel like Alison is in the position of need but the way she is trying to obtain help, but she comes off as very malicious.

You can only go so far with helping out someone. When you've experienced it first hand, you should know how Mariah feels. People will take advantage of you if you let them. But once a person breaks ties with the other person, they are being looked at as the bad person.

Any person who heard the song Petals from her Rainbow album knows the deal about MC and her family. In that song she writes about missing Allison and wanting to trust her but not being able to because she ends up getting hurt every time she does. Hell, anybody who has listened to a MC album from Daydream/Butterfly on up knows that MC had a torturous childhood. One of my fav. songs by her detailing that is Close My Eyes from the Butterfly album.
+Love Moore Petals is such a heartbreaking song. Really one of her only good tracks from the Rainbow album. She should have included it on Butterfly if she wrote it years before.
+Love Moore Just thinking the same thing. Listen to Close My Eyes and all of the interviews where Mariah has told countless times about how she was exposed to certain things that made her grow up. And surely that would have taken a toll on my relationship with my sister.

I've heard that Mariah has tried for years to help her sister get help and each time it has failed. Her sister didn't want help when it was offered to her so why should Mariah force her to get help. Mariah is getting dragged its really sad.
I don't know the situation but I'll say that sometimes you take all you can take and then you're done. Family drama is often a lifetime affair. It can wear you out and destroy your life. If Mariah is refusing to help her sister, there's probably a really good reason.

I can relate to Mariah Carey. I, financially, assisted my "sister" and her two elder children, from the time they were born. My "sister" had been deceitful towards me, throughout her elder children's life. Two years ago my "sister" deceived me, in such a sinister way, I have nothing to do with her. I forgive her, but, I, just, can't forget(DMX). I do, still, assist my "sister's two elder children, who are, now, adults, whenever they need money or anything else. My "sister", with her 6 year old child are S.O.L.
Some time tough love is the best help one can give a family member who refuses to help themselves.
Yeah, speaking of tough love, well I had a brother who used to get into fights with his girlfriend and sometimes he ended up in jail. That's before they got big on the domestic violence thing. Each time we sisters would go downtown and bail him out. We finally got tired so the last time he got in jail, he thought we would do the same thing which was to bail him out. I decided not to even go down there. He stayed in jail until they released him. Believe it or not, he never went back. He did finally tell us that was the reason he never went back and he knew that we would not be down there getting him out again. Oh, yes, tough love sometimes work. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
I totally agree that Mariah is such a good person with a great heart! I know of this personally! She helped my good dear friend Deborah Cooper who used to sing background vocals for 5 years and provided so much help and love for her when she had liver cancer! Mariah not only stepped up, but paid for all of her medical expenses and specialized treatments that eventually caused the cancer to go into remission! I know this firsthand!!!!!! We then were invited to see her in concert at the East Rutherford Stadium in New Jersey and got to take photos with her afterwards!! Mariah is such a rare jewel!! Her sister is a problem!! Take responsibility for your own life and well being!!

People never know the full story and always want to bash someone. I knew of how much Mariah has done for Allison and so I never wanted to bash her. No matter how much you love someone you can only do so much for them if they don't want to truly help themselves. At this point Allison Neva Jesus, Mariah is human too and she can't loose herself trying to save her sister who clearly isn't really trying to be saved. I'll be praying for all of them.

Similar situation with me. My mom did the same thing (Drugs and alcohol), we tried to help her but she continued to do drugs. Now that I am old enough they wanted me to help out too and I did. However, I saw that it wasn't helping her so I abandon her, I stopped sending her money. I realised that I wasn't helping my mother but the bad habit that I was feeding. I'm not religious but to do like this saying "God only help those who help them self." I told my mom's sister (my aunty) to stop helping because she has kids of her own to worry about. I do hear that my mother is doing fine now and is living a normal life.
Aero there's other ways to help. help doesn't always mean it has to be in a monetary way. You abandoned her when she needed you the most. She'll remember that for the rest of her life. drug and alcohol addiction is a disease. People going through this need help not abandonment. Anyways glad she's doing better.

Family can be the worst ppl to deal with sometimes ppl will judge you and you decisions towards your family members no knowing how many times you've tried to help them, we all have family members that just cant seem to get it together and feel as though they're owed something because they're blood, then they have the nerve to go around other ppl and have you looking crazy because they tell half truths in order to gain sympathy and play victim we all have that one family member, hell sometimes more than one!

Her sister should start taking responsibility. Mariah Carey's brother bad no right to put her out like that or their family problems. That was low of him. It's about Forgiveness..I understand just how family can be...but regardless i couldnt just sit by and allow my sister to die...Helping doesn't mean you don't have issues with that person, just means you have a heart.....I've been taught, it's not how they do you, but it's how you do them. I pray Mariah puts all their differences aside and help her...Mariah is a beautiful person,and i feel she will help,and that they can leave the past behind and build a relationship...cause we don't know how long we got with our love ones.
