Love Martin's inspired playing, not dictated by the fingers nor the mental but by the musicality, a great timing, a pretty large culture and a fine harmonic knowledge.
7 years ago...man, time flies. But this never gets old. I'm so glad every one of them is still out there playing for us mortals. Nice haircut back then by the way, Mr. Miller ;-)
Carvin guitars have that same tonal property, at least thats my opinion as an owner of 2 carvin dc135s, ive never played a Suhr but i would like to before i die. lol
I don't get people when they say "they all sound the same to me" Here are some differences between them in this video Tom - his fluid legato technique~ (Rick is also known for his amazing legatos for arpeggios, but his sound is more on speed instead of Tom's fluid legato) Andy - incorporating a lot of blues in his fusion and he tends to stick to boxes for his runs (his long bends sound like Guthrie at some points) Martin - his juicy hollow tone(not to be confused with "dull", this is juicy), and that string skipping thing he always does (kinda sounds like it's inspired from Cliffs of Dover) Rick - his fast legato runs and his double bending, as well as his 'half bends' which you will surely know it's Rick playing when you hear it I've been listening to these guys a LOT for the past year and I can definitely see AND hear the differences in each player. There are plenty other quirks that these guys have, my point is... they don't sound anything like the other. They're all amazing players that have taken their craft to their own level. Peace~
They do sound the same and they play the same with hybrid picking. Most of the guys who play for Jam tracks sound the same. Alex sound a little different because he sounds more bluesy. And not as much legato.
@IIPhoenixMTA That goes for you too. Who are you to tell me to keep my opinion. What you are saying is your opinion too so stop being a hypocrite. Further more what do you think the comment section is for dude? You do not own this this comment section.
@@foxybrown2 i never heard any players sound the same and play the same eventhough they playing the same track or copying licks, every player has their own unique even it's just a small touch.
I don't understand why people have to compare! these are four of the most talented guitar players in the world and each has his own uniqueness. I can hear a slight similarity with the guitars they are playing but come on guy's some really awesome playing. does anyone here realize how many hours go into getting this good, even with the talent! i could practice for 8 hours a day for 20 years and still not get this good. Fantastic all of it!!!
I'm pretty sure the do so due to a very limited knowledge of the genre and the people who play it. I'm sure that if you listened to 10 different 60's blues guys the same day you discovered blues you'd have a hard time differentiating. The more you listen to a certain kind of music, the more you'll see the small nuances that make players and styles different.
Once you get beyond a certain level at a genre of music, the differences between players become more subtle and harder to distinguish . I dont think anyone is ripping anyone else here. They're just drawing from the same large pool of fretboard knowledge. Its the same with any genre. The highest level chicken pickn' guys all sound similar as well.
I can only assume that those who have negative comments on these guys have a higher standard of ability, technical prowess and commitment !! Im sure there are many out there who admire what level of technical ability these guys have achieved and dream of developing that level of perfection. Thanks for your contribution to playing excellence guys.
Vids like this one are gold. I may not like it when people noodle around a lot, but I can take i.e. 30 seconds of Tom Quayle and have material for hours to update my personal phrasing library. great stuff!
i know tom, martin and especially Rick are beasts, but man, andy's was something... it was the most creative IMHO.. it was the most pleasurable to my ear at least
guys your playing is soooo beautyfull and perfect! thank you for you great music and your inspiration to all of us....the new generation!!! I salute you!
You guys absolutely killed it but I gotta say Martin you stole the show man! watched your section about 20 times haha some really tasty stuff going on well played!
Holyshit... This is one of the best videos I've seen in quite a while.... What a collaberation!! That rocked.... Time for a replay! ;) & last but not least... THANKS FOR THIS GUYS!
Hey. Rick, i am someone who has kept my eye on your playing for at least 5 years. And i had not listened to you for a while but i can honesty tell that you are still getting better and better. The note choice , phrasing , ideas, your own voice and feel is just getting improveing:)
Mr. Miller Sir! You need to do a 12 year anniversary celebration collab for the video that started it all! and include Andy James to have all the OGs in one video!
this is awesomeee!!! i live in argentina and i play drums since 2000, i don`t have a camera, but i wish i could get one so that i can play this stuff with you guys some time!!!!!! good job!
0:50- 1:00 in my mind is one of the coolest lines I've ever heard come from Tom, made me an instant fan
still cool as hell 8-9 years later
It is still cool 13 years later!
Rick Graham's ending lick.....did it for me.....good job guy's!
I love Martin Miller's solo! So groovy and melodic!
Daniel Teutsch I know man! watched it so many times haha that little melodic minor lick near the beginning is killer
Love Martin's inspired playing, not dictated by the fingers nor the mental but by the musicality, a great timing, a pretty large culture and a fine harmonic knowledge.
Freakin AWESOME ..Tom,Andy,Martin and Rick..Just amazing players..so fluent..I love that kind of playing.....
7 years ago...man, time flies. But this never gets old. I'm so glad every one of them is still out there playing for us mortals. Nice haircut back then by the way, Mr. Miller ;-)
Wonderful stuff, every Suhr guitar I hear has that thick, cabinety-wood tone that I love, and these players are really all wonderful to listen to
Carvin guitars have that same tonal property, at least thats my opinion as an owner of 2 carvin dc135s, ive never played a Suhr but i would like to before i die. lol
Phenomenal musicians! I would kill to play like this...
I don't get people when they say "they all sound the same to me"

They do sound the same and they play the same with hybrid picking. Most of the guys who play for Jam tracks sound the same. Alex sound a little different because he sounds more bluesy. And not as much legato.

Kylie Matias you don’t have to explain man, WE get it....we feel it. Some people just don’t/won’t get the subtle differences in the playing 😊
I thought every string skipping are inspired by cliffs of dover LOL
@@foxybrown2 i never heard any players sound the same and play the same eventhough they playing the same track or copying licks, every player has their own unique even it's just a small touch.
All great players - very cool jam. I'd never heard of Martin Miller before, but I liked his tone the best of the four. Thanks for sharing - great vid.
Andy Wood you continue to blow my mind... great job by all! Cheers
Ok, All these guys are killin it, but the drummer has it absolutely locked it down.
Just an incredible jam
Absolutely brilliant playing, thanks for the music lads!
Martin Miller has the most musically interesting phrases and licks imo
agree
Yes, Martin Miller is definitely one of my top players, and now that I have discovered Andy Wood, he is quickly becoming one of my favorites!
I don't understand why people have to compare! these are four of the most talented guitar players in the world and each has his own uniqueness. I can hear a slight similarity with the guitars they are playing but come on guy's some really awesome playing.

It's really satisfying and encouraging to see this new breed of musicians taking it to the next level. Good guitar playing will never die. God Bless.
I don't get why everyone says these guys are Guthrie Govan rip-offs. They each have a unique, distinguishable style.
I'm pretty sure the do so due to a very limited knowledge of the genre and the people who play it. Guthrie Govan is a Greg Howe rip off then
TomFruitStand lol in your dreams. Guthrie >>>>>>>> Greg Howe
guthrie_govan I haven’t heard a joke that good in a long time.

Great playing guys, my favorite is Martin's solo for sure. Also like Tom's approach and ideas. Nice!
Came to this video more than a decade later. It has aged beautifully. Still listen to all of the guitar players in this jam.
This guys are changing the perspective of modern guitar playing !
I really like Martin Miller's slightly 'hollow' tone ..
I do too - my association is Fredrik Thordendal's tone, especially given the line he plays @ 2:25
I wonder what is he using in this clip? I love the tone
He did awesome
This is my favorite guitar video. 4 complete masters just laying it down. Damn.
This is INSANE!!! I'll be buying the transcription soon even if I can only play and understand TWO notes of the whole thing.
I can only assume that those who have negative comments on these guys have a higher standard of ability, technical prowess and commitment !! Im sure there are many out there who admire what level of technical ability these guys have achieved and dream of developing that level of perfection. stratsw yes lots of fuckstards commenting on people they will never get close to :-P
Nice chops by all these fellas.
Thx.

Hey. Rick, i am someone who has kept my eye on your playing for at least 5 years. And i had not listened to you for a while but i can honesty tell that you are still getting better and better. The note choice , phrasing , ideas, your own voice and feel is just getting improveing:)
