    Steve, with your voice and presentation style you could sell just about anything. Courtney is a rising star! Great combo. She could sell Keto life style to the younger generation. God knows they need it. I went from being a fit and healthy young man to a less healthy and less athletic fat middle aged man. I stayed that way until three years ago when I discovered keto while searching for a medical/nutritional solution to pre-diabetes and heart disease. Today, I’m 70 years old, fit, healthy, and 2 lbs less than I was at 18.

    I think I like the videos with Courtney in them the best. I think it's because she's adds a "second opinion," and because she she is so honest. Steve might say... "Hmmm... This one is not my favorite." Whereas Courtney will straight-up say... "Yuck!!! This one's gross!" If a teenager says something is "gross," for some reason that is all I need to know to not buy it. But sometimes, she might say "I don't like this one..." but if Steve's reaction is even moderately positive... I might still buy that product, but with realistically low expectations. It is also just undeniably endearing to see a father-daughter combo. It's very genuine. :)

    I have the Birchbenders keto and paleo pancake mix. In terms of taste and texture they seem to be the same for me. What I don't like about the pancakes (for both) is how moist (actually wet) they are, no matter how much I reduce the water or how long I cook them. Then I tried the waffle iron. That was much better! They were relatively dry and crisp.

    We picked these up after watching your video and tried out the keto mixture for pancakes and waffles. Loved using it for pancakes, but I agree completely that it wasn’t the best for waffles. It did however give me an idea for lunch. That cornmeal consistency worked great for fish patties! Instead of salmon, we used a can of tuna not drained, an egg, and a third a cup of the keto mixture! I also added a little chopped onion into mine and then fried. Holy smokes! A little sugar free ketchup on top and it was amazing! Will definitely be a regular now! Thanks for the idea!

    Although the internet is comprised , in my opinion , of the good , the bad and the ugly , it is most helpful when faced with an unfamiliar term . I googled Tiger Nuts and found good questions and informative answers . The Tiger Nut flour is "a starchy flour made from root vegetables , and not nuts , as the name implies...is similar to almond flour in taste and texture...its high fiber content of Tiger Nuts may initially cause unpleasant gas and bloating...increase their portions gradually...Rich in magnesium , Tiger Nut is good for women suffering from hair loss , etc...and , in foods like Tiger Nuts , whole grains , seeds and legumes , they have been found to lower serum LDL cholesterol by 8-10% , when combined with a healthy lifestyle and exercise..." FYI
    I'm seriously enjoying your channel and content ! You have been most helpful to one whose general Keto-ish endeavors has already reduced my borderline A1C back to NORMAL !!!

    I bought this on the Amazon flash sale the other day and made waffles out of it and they were fantastic. After hearing your review, I added about a tablespoon of egg whites and 1/2 teas. of psyllium husk powder. I didn't mind the wee bit of crumbling that happened. It really wasn't bad at all and the taste was very good. Oh, and I added some cinnamon to one of them. I'll do it that way from now on.

    When using almond flour can you let the mix sit for a bit so it can absorb more liquid maybe? Or ground the package mix a bit before adding the liquids? Something should help it so it is not so gritty.

    I’ve tried both of these and quite honestly, I couldn’t tell much difference but I did add an egg to the mixture in both as a binder and help with the texture. Personally I will stick with the keto version because of the lower carb count. I’m also going to try Carbquik. For the amount you get versus price compared to Birch Benders, it seems to be a win win.

    • @SeriousKeto
      @SeriousKeto  4 года назад +3

      The clean keto folks object to CarbQuik due to it having some canola oil in it, but I’ve made some amazing biscuits with it.

    • @glockfreak1973

      Serious Keto yeah I get a little “dirty” with my keto from time to time. I don’t eat pancakes, waffles, keto biscuits, etc everyday, so using Carbquik sparingly shouldn’t be a big deal, but we do have the “clean” keto police out there to deal with. Lol.

      The recipes on the box are not great, in my experience. But when I've substituted CarbQuik for almond flour in certain applications, I've had great results. I've also used it in place of flour when I'm breading something that I'm pan frying.

    Hey Steve, I know this is a 2 year old video and you've moved on to pancake mixes from scratch that you prefer, but just wanted to share something in regard to the Birch Benders Keto pancake mix. I've tried your ketovore pancakes and while I prefer them in some regards (less grainy) the rest of the household much prefers the birch benders keto pancake mix, well, at least after after a fluke discovery. My wife had been suffering from electrolyte imbalance (or so she believed a few weeks after starting keto) so I put her on an electrolyte mix. She found the electrolyte mix a bit too salty in drinks, so I started to add it in food. In the keto birch benders pancake mix I added 1 capful of electrolyte mix (while reducing the equivalent in water) per 2 servings of the pancake mix. The pancakes turned out super fluffy with this addition. May have also fluffed up more as I took them off the griddle early and heated them in the microwave for 20 seconds or so to reheat and fully cook before serving. Could just be a fluke with water ratios, but tried it again today and they fluffed up with the electrolyte mix, and didn't fluff up much without. Might want to give it a test yourself. The electrolyte mix I used was Elyte by BodyBio on amazon which is pretty inexpensive.

    Keto mix has cassava starch which is kind of high on the glycemic index. This will spike insulin. 5 net carbs is a lot for only 160 calories. It’s a small amount taking up 25% of daily carb intake. Thanks for doing this. Eye opener. Another disappointing Keto product.
