Being born and raised in Miami I have seen plenty of repo's and beautiful views.....all ocean, beaches and palm trees.....but damn what a view of the mountains from this kids house. Wow! In Ontario any used car requires a UVIP (used vehicle information package) from the ministry of transportation which lists registrations, accidents and Liens on the vehicle in question before it can be sold and re-registered.

I disagree with that statement I own my escalade outright clean title all my papers are 100% legit but prefer to back my truck in EVERYWHERE I go. It may just boil down to personal preference. Yea, unless the title gets signed over in the transaction, run away. Even WITH the title, be wary of back owed taxes and make sure the title is free and clear. Despite such, occasionally you may buy a vehicle with a forged title that appears genuine. Do a vin check to help prevent this. If the buyer doesn't want you to, run away.
Even with a non-forged title you must beware. Several of RepoNut's videos are of people who the State or a loan company incorrectly sent the debtor a title. Just watched the one about the nutty gal in an Escalade and she was incorrectly sent the title, then went to a loan company and borrowed more money on the vehicle that she did not "remember" to pay back.
we got my truck 20 years ago with a salvaged title its a wrecked truck that the body shop bought from the bank rebuilt then we ended up with it runs good though my stepdad just gave it to me he got a new truck.
Monera96 That's unfortunate certain states allow that. In NY selling any vehicle with a Lien is illegal. You'd have to forge a Lien Release from a Lender/Bank to even get away with attempting to do that here.
Monera96 Yup... That exact thing happened to me. Thankfully it was a beat up 1992 Cavalier that I only blew $500 on. There was NO indication that there was a lien against it till I went to MVA (DMV). Must have been one of those fly-by-night title loan companies. The car was almost 20 years old and beat to hell. Bought it for my son as a "Disposable" starter car.

Never buy a car without the title NO MATTER WHAT. I was going to buy a G35 until the guy said it wasn't in the car and it was back at his house. I would of bought it right then but my grandpa said no because he didn't have the title. We made arrangements for him to bring the car to my house the next morning at 10 and he never showed up. At 12 that same day I bought a different car. A week later he called and asked me if I was still looking for a car, and I told him to fuck off. He gave me so many problems before I even saw car haha
I gotta say, for a guy who has a "history" (as you mentioned in the start of the video) he handled himself really well. He could have gone off the deep end but he didn't, so this says he is a decent guy, he's just mixed up in shit he shouldn't be and if he tried hard, he could get on the straight and narrow. I bought a bike once without one. Dude told me he had lost it (It was a bike from 78 last registered in 92.) So, I did my self a favour. Paid $6.95 to have the VIN ran. Came up clean. Even then, I asked an officer to run it for me, VIN came out clean and the bike was last registered to the guy that was selling it to me. I obtained a Bill Of Sale and was able to get a new title for it. THAT SHOULD BE THE ONLY WAY TO OBTAIN A VEHICLE WITHOUT A TITLE!
Exactly OP. The only ones that are hating the repo man are the ones that can't pay off their debts. I have no sympathy for someone that can't pay off their loans. There's no other logical reason to hate these men. They are making an honest living to feed their family. Happened to me too. Fought for months trying to make the payments when life turned to poo but I had to give it up :(..Feels like shit but the guy is only doing his job and my job was to make the payment which I screwed up , only person to blame is myself. The guys I dealt with were good too. I wasn't hiding or anything so everything went well. still bites your pride though :(
You face way too much danger for the money. I tried repo - it's a nightmare unless the people want to give you the car and keys. I would as a driver demand 300 per car to repo it. That's just to drive the truck - hire a helper and have a little 'protection.' I would have more cameras too and maybe a drone. This can go from friendly to deadly in a split second at night.
What should you do if someone is selling a car that they're making payments on though? People do that but they dont have the title because the finance company of course has it.

I always finalize my transactions at the DMV before I had over the money. I have purchased three cars like that. That way I know the title is free and clear and mine.

I never thought of something like that happening. I will remember this when buying my next used vehicle from a private person. Its really sad for the young man that thought he owned it. He sure was cool, I think if someone had ripped me off for 7000$ I would have went postal (Not on the guy picking up the vehicle but the guy that sole me something he did not own) Sure looks like a dangerous job, and you do it alone. In Western Australia we have a Register Of Encumbered Vehicles (REVS) run by the Government Department, where one can check if any Loans outstanding on the vehicle before buying it.

1. Always ask to see the title. If they dont have it, walk away. 2. If you DO buy it, always get a bill of sale signed by them. Even better to do it at a bank where there is a notary. 3. Any agreements should ALWAYS be in writing.

I disagree with that statement I own my escalade outright clean title all my papers are 100% legit but prefer to back my truck in EVERYWHERE I go. It may just boil down to personal preference. Yea, unless the title gets signed over in the transaction, run away. Even WITH the title, be wary of back owed taxes and make sure the title is free and clear. Despite such, occasionally you may buy a vehicle with a forged title that appears genuine. Do a vin check to help prevent this. If the buyer doesn't want you to, run away.
Even with a non-forged title you must beware. Several of RepoNut's videos are of people who the State or a loan company incorrectly sent the debtor a title. Just watched the one about the nutty gal in an Escalade and she was incorrectly sent the title, then went to a loan company and borrowed more money on the vehicle that she did not "remember" to pay back.
we got my truck 20 years ago with a salvaged title its a wrecked truck that the body shop bought from the bank rebuilt then we ended up with it runs good though my stepdad just gave it to me he got a new truck.
This happened to a buddy of mine. Now he's got a 2014 gt that he got from the dealership, I guess he learned his lesson

Monera96 That's unfortunate certain states allow that. In NY selling any vehicle with a Lien is illegal. You'd have to forge a Lien Release from a Lender/Bank to even get away with attempting to do that here.
Monera96 Yup... That exact thing happened to me. Thankfully it was a beat up 1992 Cavalier that I only blew $500 on. There was NO indication that there was a lien against it till I went to MVA (DMV). Must have been one of those fly-by-night title loan companies. The car was almost 20 years old and beat to hell. Bought it for my son as a "Disposable" starter car.

Never buy a car without the title NO MATTER WHAT. I was going to buy a G35 until the guy said it wasn't in the car and it was back at his house. I would of bought it right then but my grandpa said no because he didn't have the title. We made arrangements for him to bring the car to my house the next morning at 10 and he never showed up. At 12 that same day I bought a different car. A week later he called and asked me if I was still looking for a car, and I told him to fuck off. He gave me so many problems before I even saw car haha

He could have gone off the deep end but he didn't, so this says he is a decent guy, he's just mixed up in shit he shouldn't be and if he tried hard, he could get on the straight and narrow. I bought a bike once without one. Dude told me he had lost it (It was a bike from 78 last registered in 92.)
So, I did my self a favour. Paid $6.95 to have the VIN ran. Came up clean. Even then, I asked an officer to run it for me, VIN came out clean and the bike was last registered to the guy that was selling it to me.
I obtained a Bill Of Sale and was able to get a new title for it.

Exactly OP. The only ones that are hating the repo man are the ones that can't pay off their debts. I have no sympathy for someone that can't pay off their loans. There's no other logical reason to hate these men. They are making an honest living to feed their family. These guys take so much hate it's insane, when the people having their car repo'd should be mad at themselves for taking a loan out that they could never pay.
Happened to me too. Fought for months trying to make the payments when life turned to poo but I had to give it up :(..Feels like shit but the guy is only doing his job and my job was to make the payment which I screwed up , only person to blame is myself. The guys I dealt with were good too. I wasn't hiding or anything so everything went well. still bites your pride though :(

You face way too much danger for the money. I tried repo - it's a nightmare unless the people want to give you the car and keys. I would as a driver demand 300 per car to repo it. That's just to drive the truck - hire a helper and have a little 'protection.' I would have more cameras too and maybe a drone. This can go from friendly to deadly in a split second at night.

Not only that only 7000-8000 dollars for a Cadillac SUV is like so so low weather its used or not! If its to good to be true it usually is! No saying that guy was stupid, anyone can be sweet talked and coerced into thinking something is legitimate, but there were several red flags that should have alerted him!

In Western Australia we have a Register Of Encumbered Vehicles (REVS) run by the Government Department, where one can check if any Loans outstanding on the vehicle before buying it.

Mad respect for being really cool about it I had to deal with a repo guy once not for my car my friends dads car he forgot to pay the guys and someone that worked there said the first payment would be after like 40 days or something. The guy came in hauling ass and slammed the back bumper and he was being a total dick when we were being calm and cool with him. Just trying to get stuff out of the car and ask if we could pay them now and all that. The repo guy was trying to start a fight like an idiot. But long story short my friends dad has the car back and it's all good.

1. Always ask to see the title. If they dont have it, walk away.
2. If you DO buy it, always get a bill of sale signed by them. Even better to do it at a bank where there is a notary.
3. Any agreements should ALWAYS be in writing.
