- When students found out that their math teacher, Mrs. Andrew's beloved cat of 16 years passed away, they knew they had to do something special. Rachel and her friends decided to surprise their teacher with two new kittens. Mrs. Andrew's was shocked and cried tears of joy seeing the precious little felines. Rachel tells Inside Edition that before entering the room they were emotional and excited. Rachel adds that everyone in class started tearing up when they saw Mrs. Andrew's reaction. #InsideEdition

I was woke up in October 2017 to find out my sister was killed in a car accident. At 6 am family and friends started showing up. At 7 am the most beautiful wild kitten showed up rubbing my legs with 20 people in my driveway. The next day she wouldn't think of being near someone besides me.
i went camping with some friends once. that evening one sadly told us his old dog had just died the day before. the next morning there was a puppy in our camp. we were in an isolated place, no one around. well, it was like Christmas morning for my friend, he was very excited and took that gift home with him.

This is a very sweet thing they did for their teacher, but, personally, I could not get kittens so soon after the death of my cat. I need time to grieve. But it seems the teacher was happy, and that's the main thing.
I think it would be easier to accept knowing it was a kind gesture from someone else.
@@akkiko Yes, I agree. But I would find it extremely painful to have those little kittens in my home one day after my beloved, elderly cat had passed. I'd feel like I was replacing him. When my 21 year old cat passed, we got kittens about three months later, and even that felt too soon. We got them so soon because a rescue agency felt they were a perfect match for us.

Whether or not it was too soon, the fact that her students cared enough to do something so special for her is testament to what a great teacher she is. And having those two fluffy bundles will remind her forever of how much they appreciated her.

Although I would normally need more time to grieve, if someone were kind enough to surprise me like this, I could never refuse. Once I held those kittens in my arms, I would be a goner...
Its always been remarkable to me that, as busted up as I get when I lose a cat, how quickly I'm able to shower love and attention on a next little fuzzy cat pal. But boy I sure miss them when they're gone. As I type I'm looking at a montage of photos of two brothers cats I had years ago. There will never come a day when I don't miss the boys.

New kittens would not be the most appropriate gift for her, but the most important takeaway from this is that a teacher was loved enough that in her time of sorrow, her class of students thought it was necessary to band together to cheer her up. Her tears flowed not from the joy of receiving new kittens, but from the realization that she has the adoration of her students. Well done, children!

I had Mrs. Andrews as a math teacher when I went to high school in Cleburne and she is the absolute sweetest! So awesome to see students giving her back some of the joy she gives to others every day!! ❤️❤️😊😊

@@sigisoltau6073 I get what you mean. It is too soon. Of course anyone would be happy but the cat only died the day before she needed time to grieve. But for some people it does help with the process and takes their mind of it. They're your babies regardless. My opinion is the same. When my dog goes I'd be in bits and I wouldn't want another dog until the time is right for me. If someone gave me another pup would hurt like hell for me to say no it is too soon and be forced to give the pup back. Not me being heartless just people need to realise it is not their call to make and should have asked before doing something like this but not everyone is the same.
I lost my dog and said I would never get another one . They choose us we don’t choose them . I will always have a special place for my first dog . And all my fur babies .

Oh my goodness how lovely of them - those girls and those kittens must have soothed her broken heart instantly. I had similar thing happen to me recently I lost an 18 year old cat and was heartbroken - a couple of days later a neighbour turned up with a tiny 8 week old kitten for me :-)

The parents of these girls raised them well. Compassion, respect, loving hearts. The teacher also must be a very well liked authority figure for them to go to those length. A very heart-warming clip.

It’s hard when you loose a pet you’ve had for so many years. The best thing you can do is adopt another one it’s not replacing them it’s honoring them by showing the love you gave them to another animal that needs a home.
It's also easier to heal with a new animal in the house than no animal in my opinion.

My family got my cat before I was born and he was 21 when we decided to have him put down. He couldn't eat, he could barely stand. We didn't want him to starve himself. I was devastated for weeks.

I'm so sorry for you. The same thing happened to me. My parents rescued two kittens (girl and boy from the same litter) before I was born. Sadly the the boy (Guss) passed at 13 and the vets said the girl (Beth) wouldn't make it passed 15. Fast forward a few years and she was going strong until about a year ago when she started to eat less and slim before she sadly passed about 9 months ago at the golden age of 21. Still miss her.
I have an elderly dachshund (15yrs old). I'm dreading the day God calls her home. My daughter got me a puppy for 2020 Christmas. I looked just like the teacher. What wonderful students with BIG hearts.
If my cat died I would be devastated my cat is my world she is actually a tiny cat for her age she is the size of a 2 week old kitten and she is almost 5 lol I love her, her name is Koko 💗

I have to babies as well a large cat named Kimchee (she was a stray we rescued after she was at our back door and didn’t leave) and Miso (she is almost 2 and we rescued he when she was in our front yard, she was a newborn and her eyes hadn’t even opened yet so we hand raised her). If anything happened to them I would be so distraught and never get over it. Cats just find me lol.

Hmm. This doesnt happen at my school. Once a kid found a mouse behind a dumpster at our school. we were all doing community service. Anyways, the mouse actually let him pick it up. The kid brought the mouse to the class that we had to go to. The teacher screamed bloody murder, and ran out of the room.

She passed away not even a month after the new kitten and I think the loss didn’t completely destroy my life mentally because of my kitten! He was a reminder that life is beautiful, there will always be new life and everything comes to an end one day, so make sure you cherish the precious moments that you have.
I understand what you’re saying, because your heart is crushed and you don’t want to feel like you’re “replacing” them. But, I think the love that came with this gesture would help with that feeling.

Good kids. Smart too! They understand the wisdom behind getting more than one kitten. They keep each other company, they’re loads of fun to watch and as they play with each other, it saves on drape replacement!

Way to make it all about yourselves. Judging her just because she goes about something different than you. And whose to say it happened the day before, could be the day she decided to share the info. And why deny the kittens of a new home.

Some people get an immediate emptiness feeling. She probably has a very nurturing personality and this is helping that hole that was created. When our first dog passed away our second one fell into a deep depression. We didn’t want another pet so soon, but after a week of watching him starve himself practically, I picked up a kitten. Smokey literally did a full 180. I know I’m using a dog for comparison but it’s the only experience I’ve had with getting a new pet to heal a broken heart. He treated that kitten like his own child.
Personally as someone working with kids, I understand it’s not really a replacement of the pet lost, but an addition to the family, given by kids who truly love her. She’ll look at those kittens and think of her class.

I had to have a dog euthanized I was heartbroken. After we took him home and burried him my husband said I saw a free puppies sign on the way home, do you want to go get one. I did not hesitate to say yes, it was not replacing the one I lost but it was a comfort to have that puppy to hold. Baby animals just have a way of lifting your spirits.
