In the game, the moment she said that he's pretending to be a father, the look he gave her was as if he was telling her "Don't you dare, don't you dare, Athena" since we all know what happened in the past, so he's trying to make up for it with Atreus.

Stop think like father start thinking like a general
This demanded so much of the voice actor to pull it off. All the hand movements linked to what he hears and says when he was wrapping the chain around his forearm... It's truly breath taking.
The Actor Christopher Judge put his heart in this scene. He even was able to shed a tear. The source was his personal failure in life. I don't know the specifics nor care to dwell on them. He did amazing as Kratos

What I respected was thAt this wasn’t a redemption story.
Kratos isn’t naive. He’s learned from his actions. At best he wants to be left alone, at worst he’s getting people out of his and his sons way.
He’s teaching his son the lessons he was too angry and prideful to head. To control his anger, to channel his strength. And to be wise.

The only thing that would’ve made this better is if you put a clip of the Hel vision of Zeus’s beat down after the “how do you know?!” part

It really adds on to it when you consider the fact that Kratos is beating the hell out of a God with his bare hands, immediately after that "HOW DO YOU KNOW?!" line from Atreus. The fact that he's punching to the beat is just the cherry on top that slams you right in your heart.
