    • @BrottenGuy
      @BrottenGuy 5 лет назад +13

      The worst Vibes Agreed. I wasn’t a kid, so I wasn’t terrified. I just think it was much more practical. He’s supposed to be more of a “Super Soldier” type of character. Not mutated. So, it makes way more sense. I agree, with DeFoe’s decision and suggestion.
      Also, the animated mutant head would’ve looked terrible onscreen, in an actual live action film.

    They used the goblin helmet instead of an organic looking goblin face because it was a formula to enhance human attributes and not mutate the person into a humanoid goblin creature. Makes perfect sense.

    • @BrottenGuy
      @BrottenGuy 5 лет назад +12

      Marcelo Liebhardt exactly! This is what I’ve been saying. He’s more of a “Super Soldier” thing, in the movie. The animatronic mask/head wouldn’t have worked, for that. Besides, I believe it would’ve looked absolutely horrible, in an actual live action film & stay respectable. Seriously. I don’t get why people can’t see this. What they used was much ire practical

    • @EviltheNub

    I think Marvel owe alot to Raimi's Spider-Man movie, it really did revitalize the Superhero genre, that along with Blade. I still think this Spider-Man movie has the best Uncle Ben, that actor put alot of heart and emotion into the role.

    I'm a huge Spider-man fan. Hands-down Spider-man 2002 was one of the best Spider-man movies of the whole franchise. If Sony would've stayed out of Sam Raimi way he would've some of the best Spider-man movies to ever be seen. Thanks to Sony want more Villains. They ruined the 3rd spider-man movie and drove Sam Raini out. On another note goodbye to the Great Stan Lee. Great Job Minty! Excelsior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great video! Always love checking out your work! Always so informative.
    It's a real shame that the Sam Raimi trilogy doesn't receive quite as much respect now as it did back in the day. I was 14 when the first movie came out, and it was one of those defining moments in popular culture for my generation. Everyone saw it. Everyone loved it. Everyone was talking about it. And *Spider-Man 2* only increased the trilogy's influence. And I still absolutely adore those first two films. Hell, I still consider *Spider-Man 2* one of the top-three comic book movies ever made, and I still watch the trilogy and have a blast with it about once a year. (Albeit, I watch 3 more ironically in comparison to the first two.)
    But when *The Amazing Spider-Man* and subsequently *Spider-Man: Homecoming* came out, it suddenly became in-vogue to shit all over the Sam Raimi films. And not even just new audiences... even people I know personally who were obsessed with the Raimi trilogy when they first came out suddenly hated them, or said they were bad movies that "are only worth watching for nostalgia."
    Don't get me wrong, the reboots were both quality films ( *Amazing Spider-Man 2* not withstanding), and I'm excited to see *Far From Home* and how the MCU Spidey is used in the future. But I do think the first two Raimi films, particularly *Spider-Man 2,* hold up very well outside of the effects and some dated references. They're really well-assembled, have a nice timeless style that doesn't instantly date them, and they have a really wonderful flair and sense of whimsy that sets them apart. I'll still see every new Spider-Man film... but *Spider-Man* and *Spider-Man 2* set the bar very high, and as far as I'm concerned, they're still the definitive films in the overall media franchise.

    • @KaizerMan
      @KaizerMan 5 лет назад

      Cιʂ Iɳ Tobey was a better actor but that didn’t mean he was the better Spider-Man. There’s way more factors to consider than just acting abilities.
      Like someone like Daniel Radcliffe for example isn’t a particularly amazing actor & has been unconvincing in most of his new films imo, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t perfect the Harry Potter role to define how the character will forever be perceived.
      You can big up Tobey’s acting as much as you want, but the facts are there are certain natural traits of Peter/Spider-Man which are more suited to Tom Holland. And there’s no shame in admitting that nor does it mean Tom’s best, just acknowledging both have pros & cons

    Around 1999 i remember reading a "Wizard Magazine" story about the development of a new Spiderman movie. They were speculating on villains and it was between Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Venom. But, they said, and i quote "it doesn't look like it will be Venom, however. He's getting his own movie by New Line Cinema". I was so excited for a Venom movie back then that i remember that line to this day. 18 years later... when a Venom movie finally came out.

      Henjo29 If the contracts and rights ownerships has allowed it. I loved the 90s Wolverine & Spider-Man were great. Now, if we can just get a trio with Spidey, Logan, & Deadpool. I know they’ve never all been together, in the comics. But, Spidey has been a duo with both. And Logan & Wade obviously have a tight connection. It will work greatly depending on who they cast, for Wolverine down the line

      That would have started a cinematic universe and it's best to just have him in the background or not have him at all because in my opinion, superhero movies are better when they focus on the superhero himself and not trying to build a universe. That was one of the many mistakes that Tom's Spider-Man made.

  • @seantaylor424

    I prefer the animatronic Green Goblin over the finished product by a mile, but I can think of 2 reasons the movie may not have used it. First, the mask was probably difficult to work with, so they saved themselves trouble in an already-complex movie. Secondly, the animatronic mask would have been great for conveying Norman's insanity and would be feasible for him to make, but the robo-Goblin mask better matches the theme of misappropriated military technology, with Osborne presumably working much faster to get his mask made so he could still remain undetected in his own building. That said, I would have liked to see them have Norman REALLY abuse his assets and upgrade a clunky military glider into the supernatural-looking threat he normally is to better indulge in his insanity and ego over playing it safe with the modern esthetic.
    Rest in Peace, Mr. Lieber. You pioneered a medium nobody believed in (not even you, heh heh) and gifted the world with a legacy we'll likely be seeing in our world even longer than we already have been benefitting from.

    IMO, Toby was perfect for that role. I didn't like Garfield's acting. He's like a male Kristen Stewert. Almost every line is preceded by a stutter or tick of somekind. Which annoys & distracts me. Toby, on the hand, didn't try to act. He simply became the character. Now Tom Holland, although he looked a little too young IMO, is very likeable & stutter/tick free. He's def a step in the right direction. (Just my 2 cents)
