Shout out from the northwest. Seeing a nice Fox Body on the road anymore is rare. I am a original owner of an 89 convertible GT. Tons of mods. Show car worthy. Would never get rid of it in a million years. My grandsons will be driving it someday. Restore the Foxbody y'all !

My brother abandoned his in my parents back yard. After years of rust and drifting. (He had repaired the shocktowers and driver floor at one point.) Now the rear frame rails were completely rotted out and missing. Had to make my own, with some help from a local welder shop. They bent me up some thicker rails and priced the back end together. Now the car runs with a freshly rebuilt 302. Gotta save these cars, mine was a month away from the Boneyard.

LMR should have a "BARN FIND PACKAGE" with tank, pump, sender, filler gasket, and vent gasket, then plugs, wires a tfi and ignition module. Lol

Check brake hardware, especially drums, I had to replace wheel cylinders, and I also had a spring that broke and fell down in the bottom of the drum and was making noise.

Just got an 86 2 years ago from a friend and was sitting since 06 (15 years).
Took to get running: battery and cables, oil change, fuel pump, fuel filter and a few gas tank gaskets.
Finally got to work on it more this summer.
Got all of this done over 3 months: engine mounts, pan gasket, valve cover gaskets. Seaped oil everywhere
While I was at it: rear main, oil pump, pickup tube and oil pan, pilot and throw out bearings, clutch fork and pivot ball, clutch and pressure plate, flywheel resurfaced.
Now to make it road worthy: brake hoses and probably tires.
Non running car for $1500, put less than $1000 into it and I can drive it. As easy as this thing came apart, I would gladly do it again!
Luckily I kept a lot of parts from the 86 that I totalled back around 2001. After I get the brake hoses fixed, I get to start with the suspension upgrades I've been storing for 20 years.

For sure after soaking spark plug holes with wd40 or oil after a few days of soaking then crank it by hand wrench to see how it turns over before trying the starter, just saying because I've seen rings crack from rusting themselves to the cylinder walls

I picked up one a few weeks ago for a parts car and when you turn the key on the fuel pump kept running. No fuel leaks but could hear a hissing noise in the engine bay so pretty sure it's a stuck injector or injectors. I don't want to buy new injectors just to see if the car fires. It cranks but won't start/ I figured i'll finish the 1st car before trying to fix the parts car! LOL Good info!

Great info! My 87 has been sitting since 2011 and the fuel tank sprung a leak several months ago, so I'll have to replace all of that I'm sure. But thats after I get the new engine finished and installed!

This is just what I needed. My 93 has been sitting in the garage untouched since 07. I’ve had an itch to get it back on the road here recently and didn’t really know where to start. Thanks for the video.

I'm out fixing my C4 transmission leak. I still have the 87 GT I built back in the 90s and with 60,000 miles it don't plan on getting rid of it. Just need to get it road worthy again.

Check those balancers too. They dry rot from what I've seen. Had mine fly apart just idling. Would hate for it to happen out on the road. That 5.0 will be a No.O quick. Pretty good checklist though.

How long of sitting do you think would affect the tank and pump. Mine sat for 7 years in the garage and I'm almost certain it needs replacing. Had like 3/4 of a tank and it wouldn't stay running until I topped the tank off with fuel. Then it started. I think Mayne the sock on the pump was caked up. Idk.

  • @AwakeDude911

    cheap ?
$121.99 for the tune up kit..back when theses cars were like 10-15 yrs old this same tune up kit was like $40-60 bucks... $68.99 oil kit my goodness that was maybe $25 ....
thats how much value the American dollar has lost.

    • @user-kh2bi8xd9k
      @user-kh2bi8xd9k Месяц назад

I fully understand your point to the MAX!! But buying own oil and filters should still be around 25$ here… gas on the other hand! Granted my car still changes it’s own oil ( leaky ) I just top off and check filter LOL
