Guitar guy on Les Paul with the slide killed it. Everybody did well, but that extra special.
so much feeling in there
100 percent agree! I love the entire rendition but the slide guitar kills it.
Agreed, they're all sweetie-pies though
As a Mazzy Star fan, ABSOLUTELY beautiful rendition. Thank you.
This is exceptional. Real instruments and real music. So special. Keep it up kids!!!
Compared to today's music where you pick a synth beat and have two lines of lyric/repeat chorus 15 times.
This is musically phenomenal, but I think my favorite part of it is the kids wearing really hard rock and metal shirts playing a soft, slow song with so much quiet soul.
musically phenomenal? playing with so much quiet soul? geez calm down there, chief.
LOL, Slipknot t shirt playing Mazzy Star!
I was just going to write that.
Don’t forget the garage band atmosphere.
well, Mazzy Star was a Rock band
Oh my gosh, what an incredible cover!
This brought me back to a night in 1996 just before graduation. A very dear lady friend asked me to give her a ride to a mutual friend’s birthday party, and when she got in the car, she popped this into the tape deck. As we drove from Mahopac to our friend’s house on the reservoir, she rolled down the window and let her hair down. It was sunset, and she was so beautiful. She looked over at me and smiled, and neither of us said a word. From my perspective, we shared a moment of kinship and platonic love of warm late-spring evenings in New York. From her end of things, she was hoping I would see her differently, and she could hop out of the friend zone. At any rate, we had a lovely evening, and after graduation she moved to Oregon, and I never saw her again. I’m happily married to my wife, but I feel like I let my old friend down. We had been friends since we were in pre-school, so I wasn’t interested in romance. What a great friend she was!
I think it's strange, you never knew......
Amazing story good sir. I too grew up in that area and around that time. Hunterbrook rd was beautiful that time of year as well. I was a freshman in 96. This song hit hard and hit home. I miss that place and those times. I don’t even live in NY anymore 😢
Reading this and listening to this rendition was perfect. Of the ups and downs in life, it's moments like these that matter to me and I'm lucky to recognise and appreciate them. So you never saw her again, sad, but I bet it adds to the magic of the story and recollection. I had a wonderful friend in my late teens, early twenties, curly dark hair and dark eyes, sense of humour, we liked the same things, we saw the absurd in life and laughed at it, we felt connected in our uniqueness, it just felt right in every way. She was not perfect, neither am I, but I dug her man, right to my core. Then she called (back in the landline days) to meet in a neutral place where she said it was over, she 'had to find herself'. I think we still live in the same small town, but I've not seen her in over 30 years, but I still think of her often. I have no idea of what became of her. I went off the rails at first, but very quickly rationalised the whole thing and got over it. But what still hurts to this day, I miss my friend.
@@filthybstard why don't you find her?
Damn, I am intensely curious now.
Maybe the same small town?
Thank you for writing that, and for painting a unique memory for us to share with you 😊🤩🫠
This is about the best thing I have come across in all of my years. Well done.
The singer did an amazing job. But I noticed so many sweet things. The slide guitar was just right. The violinists were as beautiful as the singer and when they played their parts the music got so many new emotions. The keyboard player was also singing harmony. And of course your tiny drummer with her badass rock n roll shirt. I am charmed and amazed how well you all did on one of my favorite songs. Not at all easy and so beautiful.
Wow, you mirrored my thoughts....
Amo essa música! Amo Mazzy Star! Amo Hope Sandoval! E amei essa versão! ✌🏻🇧🇷
One of my favorite songs and they nailed it! Indistinguishable from the original, unbelievable.
Awesome! And the T-shirts - Love 'em!
Gives me the chills like see'in Aces and Eights
This gives me hope for the future. Perhaps we're not doomed after all.
Amazing job, gang. Everyone nailed it here. Great subtle slidework from the guitarist, beautiful vocals, haunting orchestration. This could be released as a single tomorrow. Evokes the spirit of the original but adds its own thing that makes it different enough to demand it be heard. Get this out there!
This is so much better than a lot of the big star covers. For such a simple song it’s so hard to hit it right.
Kids are still great and always will be.
Well done lads!
Well done everyone!
For real. O'Keefe has an eye for talent. I've been so inspired by these productions of excellent songs with great young musicians. No doubt everyone that participates has a future with their abilities.
Good job you kids. Music is life
Thanks
All of these kids have such amazing talent. Every kid, every song. Well done as always!
Uno de los mejores covers que he escuchado de esta canción, felicidades.
Incredible rendition. The singer definitely the standout among amazing kids. Best since the Tool covers.
I keep dropping hints with my daughter about getting my eldest g-daughter into O'Keefe, she has tons of raw talent.
❤❤❤❤❤made me feel young again
This ensemble of young musicians is the pure definition of synergy.
This is effing beautiful. I hope that they are all proud... I don't think they will know what they have done until a decade or two has passed, or how important this song and band were to a generation of kids trying to figure out love and heartbreak. Thank you.
Masterpiece,, Great Job little Stars 👏
This is the antidote to kids bop
BRAVO!
Absolutely beautiful. ❤
Well done and with excellent production, Great sounding cover!
Wow, fantastic job Izzie. I suspect you're in for great things in the near future.
You kids are awesome.
Simply awesome kidos
Great job kiddos! 👍🏼
She killed it
you guys/and gals were great.
Must've been pretty hot in the studio, the fans add a nice touch!
So beautiful to hear your light in these old songs again. Thank you. It ain't all easy but you make it look that way.
Goosebumps guys 😌
Well done. Bravo
Holy cow! I've been a supporter but y'all just did Mazy Starr. The world needs to know how bad ass our kids can be. This song just got a cynical old guy into tears. Y'all are always so amazing. Thank you!
Unreal!!
Very impressive. Great cover.
Great job.
I'm sure David is smiling up there :-)
Awesome. You even had the slide. Enjoyed it
Yay. A bunch of music school kids....cool
It is great to see todays youth paying homage to some great classic music. Remember this well when I was in college.
Excellent!
Beautiful covered song.
Fantastic. 😮😢
Awesome. Just. Awesome.
Omg. Fabulous 👌
Perfection. ❤
AMAZING!
Love!❤
Such a great song. It came out at the wrong time in my opinion. I hate it wasn't as appreciated as it is today. Y'all did an amazing job of capturing that sound and feelings from back then. Keep up the great work!!
Outstanding!!! 🤘🤘
Awesome
Great job kids. Keep perfecting your craft.
This is great.
Omg that was absolutely a beautiful tribute perfect and so young. 🎉👏👏👏👏
amazing
I listen to old music from my grandmothers days, she played the snare drum in the 1930s, to Tool, PANTERA, Pink Floyd. Bout to watch this, because it’s one of the greatest songs ever.
❤
amazing! well done!
Haunting fairy, haunting
Awesome work!!!
Wow. That really was good.
This is just fantastic! Been a fan of Hope for some 30+ years
one of the best covers i've ever encountered. simply amazing.
Perfect! Brought tears to my eyes.
This should be good!
Excellent! ❤
Banger
really nice cover, though i have to mention the wonder of Hope Sandoval: she's feels even more innocent than any of these little fellows :)
Great rendition, instruments and vocals are awesome, looking forward to more music from you. Thank you.
So easy on the ears. Well done kids. Kid has soul in her voice. I celebrate you all
Better than the original version!!!
Better than the original. Great job!
OMG great job kids XOXO Nailed all the nuance of this song. Looking forward to more. Merry Christmas to you and thank you for your hard work to put his together.
The fact there parents showed them this song is awesome.still hope in this generation
There's nothing inherently special about the music you like.
I had to do a double take. The singer looks so much like my niece, who is also musically inclined.
Never seen a girl that age embracing glasses. From an old family practice doc.
Very cool awesome cover, I hope those shirts aren't prop's.
Awesome job Guys! 💚
Jeebus. This is so perfect. Best cover since 46 and 2.
That's where my mind immediately went.
who?
Right - also the cover "Crazy Horse" by Black Label Society is one my favorites
How right you are👍
@@johnwolf2829just googled it and wow-

Great, bravo!❤
This is the only cover version of Fade Into You that I've listened to the whole way through. Not only that, but I've been listening to it on repeat for the last hour, so just thought I'd leave a comment to say thanks, and to let you all know what an utterly fantastic arrangement this is. With all the other covers I've heard, there's always something that's too 'dominant' or too 'different', whether it's the rhythm guitar strumming too abrasively, or the slide guitar improvising when it shouldn't, or the drummer adding unnecessary fills, or the lead vocalist trying too hard to make the melody their own. This is the only cover that gets everything right, the whole way through, without one instument/voice trying to be the star of the show, and all while not coming across like it's trying to copy the original exactly. It has its own identity and charm, thanks in large part to the outstanding young musicians who execute their parts flawlessly throughout. You've managed to capture the essence of a song whose essence is virtually impossible to capture. Thank you for sharing this with us!!
100%. No one can do this song justice not even miley cyrus. This is not only bearable, it’s beautiful!!!! That kid’s voice has the same innocent quality that made the original so endearing
You are right! And I would even say that the guitar is less emphasised here than in the original version, but that doesn't make the song any worse. Rather the opposite is the case.
Gave me chills. These kids absolutely NAILED IT.
The essence of the original version of this song is that it's so ethereal.
These ladies and gents nailed the etherealness of this song. Well done!
The fact that they're teaching kids about wonderful music like this speaks for itself. Man, these kids blow my mind every time! Keep it up kids and O'Keefe! Just lovely...
It's not that they are teaching them wonderful music. These kids choose the song and make the arrangements.
@@pen25 and it's free music and production education for the kids as it's all paid for by donations. all the parents have to provide is their room and board. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
@@pen25 💯
Not gonna lie. I teared up. Thanks kids....you did this more than justice.
I've listened to countless covers of Mazzy Stars Fade Into You (one of the best songs ever made imo), and this one, BY FAR, takes the cake - its the best cover out there hands down. BRAVO!
By far the best cover of this song, Fade into you - the vocals, the band , the instruments all in sync and it's just amazing..wow!
I BET THE PARENTS OF THESE KIDS ARE VERY PROUD.
12 year old with skinned up knees and the voice of an angel.
Haha totally accurate! They play like a 20 years on band!
She's got an autoimmune condition, Vitiligo
This song made me (along with a whole bunch of others) fall in love with Hope Sandoval. Still holding a candle for her 30 years later. Wonderful rendition, guys!
100% with you on this. Was recently looking at some old videos of MS and they brought back the same feelings I had the first time I heard Hope singing. 😊
@@lawrencekeating5571 I managed to see her perform when I was like 21 or 22.... just vibing all night to her voice. *sigh* 😍
Hope is my teenage crush 🌀🌀🌀😍😍😍
90's Pixie Muse
The feeling never leaves...Hope is the definition of beauty.
I love the singer's voice. She sings well and is well connected to the song. The best part, she STILL sounds like a kid. She's not trying to pretend to be an adult. She's signing in her true vocal range and voice. Which is why is sounds so effortless when it obviously is not. Some singers, like Angelina Jordan, are born sounding like an old soul and have the vocal cords and connection to make it work. But for most kids, they should STILL sound like kids. This just shows that these guys are teaching healthy vocal techniques and that these young folks are talented. Nice seeing a girl on the drums. My fav drummer right now and for the past 2 or so years has been Paulina Villarreal from the sister rock band The Warning. They are amazing! Go check them out.
You killed it kids!! That was such a great cover. I hope you see this comment and it warms your heart as much as it did to hear you all play this song. You're hard work has not gone unappreciated.
im a 40 something dude grew up around listening to pearl jam, soundgarden and and the likes... but when this song came on... i cranked it. and its giving me goose bumps to this day. These kids just nailed a cult hit. Great work.
Holy Crap! That gave me goosebumps, and took me right back to 1993-94. WOW!
