Bless you, John! Playing with you, Benny, Rodney, Dean and the rest was the greatest time ever. Oh yeah, and thanks for saving my ass! Miss you and Marie.....BB
@@deanpitman3325 John lived with us on Belmont Blvd. in Nashville when this was recorded. John's bedroom was first one at the top of the stairs overlooking the alley outback. His son and I are near the same age and Jamie would come visit at our house. John was also present at the birth of Carnes Blake, my brother on June 14, 1971. They had just gotten in off the road and our mother was in labor.
@@TubbsTheCat I love Hartford, but Vassar's fiddle skills are out of this world. If I was starting a band and hiring for someone who only played fiddle, I'd hire Vassar, too.
You can do anything is such a great song
Two old Hippies. Cool. Love this

Those were the days.
Norm is my favorite guitar player in the first five frets.
Superb comment
@@RabbiT-qh8pd I'm sure only a small handful of people would have got that.✌️
Ain't no money to be made above the 5th fret:)
@@banjoist123Maybe so but Tony could sure do some damage up there.✌️
fantastic! Thanks😊
Priceless. I sure miss John being around with his dry wit and look at life.
I also miss hearin’ Norman Blake too. Where is Norman hidin out these days??? Your public needs you Norman🐸
I’m just imagining Dave Holland’s bass line. Wish he could’ve been there.
Love this gem.
The sound is coming through so well I feel the guys are in my living room!
It's really good.
I would kill to have been there. At least I got to see him live.
I was there. It was my first Philadelphia Folk Festival. Even more amazing than it sounds here.
So awesome! I have been listening to Norman since about '79.....I'm not much of a Jesus freak either...
..a Norman Freak tho? Yah....I'll cop to that😁
Love it
good year :)
72!? And crystal clear
What a treasure, however, that photo is not from that festival.
They must have been good friends, so together.
John lived with Norman in Nashville way back in the 60's.

I believe these fella had been enjoying a little too much coffee (or "something"...)! Wisht I had caught this act!!
I wonder if John Hartford and Frank Zappa ever played together.
I wonder about the afterlife, and whether old Hartford is a Jesus freak yet.
Vassar Clements? Fiddle steals the show!
Wonder if they crossed. Paths.
😇
Great show but wrong year.....this was 71
The Goose Creek Era
Luv that intro!!!
Does Hartford-Garcia collaboration exist? I would retire from the internet if I found that set.
John Hartford was originally going to be the fiddle player for Old and In the Way but for some reason it didnt work out.
My understanding is that Hartford did a couple gifs with Old and In the Way before Vassar joined. I reckon their ain't no recordings.
There is a recording. I used to have a copy.
@@lentrimmer Find it! Put it online!
