this is so FANTASTIC! Thank you- makes such an amazing difference. So appreciate you showing this.
I am enjoying your videos. How long to wait after painting your piece before wet sanding.
Thanks Betty! I would wait at least a day after the last coat of your Fusion.
Will doing this disrupt the durable built in top coat of the finished piece? I did a small sample and would like my finish a bit more soft and smooth but not shinny. I like the matte look. Thanks for the video😊
Hi Suzi! No, this doesn't interfere with the durability of Fusion :) It's a good idea to let it sit and cure maybe a few extra days since you did apply so much water, but it doesn't effect the built in topcoat.
I have a black painted long dresser. Can I wet sand the second black coat to get rid of some orange peel bumpiness? Shouldn’t I sand in long horizontal motion? Won’t black show swirl? It is an all in one water based paint. I plan on mixing Varathane poly with half black paint for my final top coat. Probably satin. I was thinking 800 or 1000 grit. Thanks
You can finish sand your last coat for sure! I’ve never had an issue wet sanding and going in a circular motion, but you can go back and forth if you like
Can you wet sand in between coats if you need to get a smoother finish? If wet sanding after your last coat does it leave marks on your piece when you are doing it in a circular motion? I do not want to distress the piece I am working on. Thank you
You can in between coats, however I usually wait until the last coat :) If you don't want to distress, use almost no pressure at all, just super lightly buff the pad. Anytime you sand darker colors it can leave a bit of scuff marks, which is why I usually add a light coat of wax or oil to give sheen and hide those. Happy Painting!
Melody where do I find your transfers I saw them on the thrift hall antiquing trip to the junk ranch. You mentioned that someone had used them. Please send me the link to your Etsy shop
Hi Robin! Sure thing…you can find them all on my online store :) Here’s the link.

What type of sealer do you use after the wet sanding process?
With Fusion, an additional dealer is not required bc it’s an acrylic paint. However for dark colors, I like using the Fusion Beeswax Finish or they have an oil-based clear topcoat also
If you don’t want distressed just a luster would you use higher grit
No, very fine grit, no real pressure on your pad and avoid corners and raised areas :)
I’ve wet sanded mineral fusion paint before but can I wet sand the third layer of dixie belle chalk paint for a smooth finish?
I have not personally used Dixie Bell, so can’t say for certain! I am not sure how water resistant it is, this amount of water may pull off the paint. I wouldn’t wet sand a regular chalk paint brand, like Annie Sloan or Jolie. Too much water. Perhaps paint a sample board and see what happens? That way you don’t mess up your piece :)
hi..great videos.. can i do this on enamel paint? also what grit are you using.. i have 420 with me.. will tha do? thanks
Hi! I honestly have only worked with enamel paint one time before, and it was a very high gloss finish, which typically doesn’t respond well to finish sanding. So I can’t say for 100% certain, but knowing what I do about enamel paint, it should work fine! In cases where I’m not sure, I always paint a sample board and try it on that first :). With this project, I’m using a 220 sanding pad
@@LostFoundDecor thanks!
How come after you wet sanded it in your video, it showed a lot of paint peeled off the edges?
It will do that, distress the edges. If you don’t want it distressed, avoid edges or raised areas and use almost no pressure when sanding with the pad
What grit sandpaper are you using?
I’m using a sanding pad, 220 grit
@@LostFoundDecor thank you
Please don't mislead about fusion. There are much higher quality alternatives at 1/3 the price.
