Hearing Cynic feel so much better about Dying Light 2 is quite wholesome lol its like all of us started slowly getting brought back in
It's become pretty clear that this "Five year plan" isn't indented to be like the first games updates, adding on to what was already there, but instead to finish the game because they released an unfinished product. These community updates definitely helped some issues, but they didn't "fix" them like the fans and Techland claim. They're just putting bandages on giant wounds hoping it stops the bleeding instead actually treating the problem
Then how can they treat it when every one says it is?
This game went through development hell they cut lots of content from the game
I mean what the game was originally supposed to be like the 2019s version for example and is nothing like it it's completely changed the story the choices and consequences

At the moment I'm playing it again. Bashing zombies never gets old.
To get to know the game better I traveled around the old Villedor map and the new Villedor. Little tip. I feel that most gamers don't do the Bookclub missions that you find in the library of the ship. And joining the Carrier's Guild. You're like a postman. And deliver post that's attached to little stories. Love it. The leader of the Carrier's Guild, Driscoll, calls you Hotshot. So cool. 😉😁👍👍
i wish breaking bones did actually damage, like make it hard for them to use their arms or legs, or if a broken skull, would make them very stunned for a long time
works on biters at least, you can break their arms and legs and render them completely useless

I honestly was disappointed when the game first came out but after giving it another chance like 4 days ago, I am happy to say I finally love it. It feels similar to dying light 1 now.

This is probably the best time to come back to this game, There is multiple gameplay reworks on the way very soon along with a large dlc that may be the following of dl2 which was all recently announced on the 1 year anniversary, lets just hope techland hits the nail on the head with this one

Some of my thoughts.
An update now that i finished the game, just some thing i added to my original post: Favorite part of the game is the space bar for skipping dialogue. ;) Sometimes it just goes on and on and on! And on! Ive got stuff to do!
That being said I completed it yesterday (main story), I enjoyed it more than I thought. I feel that I did about 50% of what is available. I didn't even get to the underground town! There is a lot more to explore and I will replay it at a later date, but for now, the repetitiveness of the looting interior environments just killed it for me, I got fed up.
two things that I liked that worked well that I expected to hate was the paraglider and the grappling hook. I didn't enjoy the final boss fight, or the leading up to it, it was just the same thing repeating over and over. Same renegades, little variety.
Every mission felt like "get the power on>it's on>oh no its off again, turn it on> off again>turn it on!
I realized what i liked about DL that wasn't in DL2, and that was ground variation. In DL1 there were alleyways, stairs, steps, the roads went up and down, environment were more varied (in DL2 everything feels like it's the same architect that's done every building, and since they repeat so much of the rooms and buildings and they all look very similar, you never get the feeling of a sprawling city, even though the map might be larger. it's like a maze built up of the same square dimension room.
If they made the flashlight either run on batteries or be windup, that would really add to the horror element.
I'd rather have a smaller map with more to do than a massive map with very little to do. It's no fun after a while. In DL the actual ground had differences in elevation in DL. In DL2 everything on ground level is flat. I understand that Villedor is a city and Harran was more like an old European village/favela, it felty as if people had actually lived there. But still! More underground carparks and sewer systems, SOMETHÌNG please.
In DL1 I felt I could go in to every house, every door. In DL2, 70% are locked. All the loot shops are identical, all the inhibitor hospital stairways are the same. What I found incredibly annoying was the triggering of Virals every time you do ANYTHING, and that there was no stealth to play with. You're spotted immediately by everything.
Favorite Biter was the backpacker! All in all, there was very little variety in enemies. same in DL1.
The heights were really HIGH haha, every mission where I had to get up a radio tower was a butt clenching, toe curling, upper body swaying ordeal. And the payoff of paragliding down was awesome.
I liked the "check the environment with binoculars for landmarks." I did not like the map. It was very static and since its transparent, id find myself on rooftops looking for an inhibitor, only to find that it was several blocks away, just overlayed on a taller building.
Weapon modding was no fun.
I wish that the key combinations weren't so difficult. Like, dodge, why not just have a double tap in the direction you want to go? Now you press Jump and then the direction, its convoluted, and then you have to remember all the other combinations, there were so many combat and parkour skills i never used bc i couldn't remember all the key combos. And since im a lefty, certain keys couldn't be changed, unless you config the file in notepad.
Inventory was also a bit underwhelming, nothing fun to use, nothing inventive. i think I used maybe 30% of what was available to me. I just stuck to the Molotovs. Why not have UV handgrenades and things like that?
As soon as I got the crossbow, it was game over for Renegades. Very satisfying. Speaking of, why didn't we have bolts and arrows dipped in mushrooms? that would be so cool to have against volatiles and Virals.
I enjoyed the faction assigning. It feels like there are 2 completely different games. For this playthrough i went with PK. I liked the feeling of safety in "my" neighborhoods and the feeling of "im in trouble" when i was in a renegade neighborhood.
I wish there was a way to interact more with my buddies from PK, casual talk that they could respond to. It was a lot of fun luring renegades and zombies to a gang of Blues and joining in the fight. But if you accidently hit a PK, that's it, they will turn on you, and you have to go to sleep, so they forget about it. The call for help button should have been a key binding and should have had a certain range to it, like 50 meters or something.
Im looking forward to the DLC, they did such a great job with The Following, I cant wait to see what they've come up with.
Since i didn't play it all, this might be wrong, but i think there should have been some guns available. I liked the tactics involved with them in DL1, loved to find a police cruiser and hope that there was some ammo in there. Just getting to it was a challenge in strategy. Making bullets in a post-apocalyptic world isn't that difficult.
There is no point in going up against a rooftop bandit camp. They are all identical and all give the same exact loot. No point in lockpicking Hard chests, the same loot in all of them, stupid clothes that I couldn't care less about, and dont have the time to compare against each other. None of that was intuitive, numbers on clothes made no sense at all, neither did different colored icons. Speaking of that, WHY are clothes so expensive to buy, but give absolutely nothing when you sell them? like; to buy=3000, to sell=9. Same with weapons. if you could sell them for a nice chunk of change, that would make sense having them in Hard lockpicking chests, but you cant.
Day cycles are too fast and night cycles are too slow (you can change this by modding) Just stand still and look at the shadows during the day. Nights all have full moons and are way too bright. There is no smooth time cycle.
I preferred the slomo look back in DL1
If DL1 is an 8.5/10, then DL2 is a 6/10 for me.

At first I thought its not as good as dl1 but as time passes by I went back again to play and try the gritty dark filter and oh boy does it make the game a lot better for me. I am now enjoying it.
They need to add an immersive mode aka no weapons with damage numbers just simple stats. Kind of like Tom Clancy breakpoint.

I haven't played in almost a year and I couldn't be happier. They F'd up and I just get angry when I see or think about this game. It'll take a lot to get me back but knowing Techland that'll cost me more money again for a chance at what I thought I was promised if they do a following type dlc.

Same I unfortunately had to play on PS4 and it was a fucking mess. I cant even explain how bad it was but I had to quite the game and it is not like me to bail on a game. Bugs were just too bad.

@@Shadow-Morgana Thing is for me, bugs in a game can really ruin a game for me.
As an example, I have solid snake as my profile pic because I am a MGS fan, MGSV had a bug that stopped me from being able to 100% it, because of that i lost interest in it and have not played it at all since the game released, which is 2015!
I was using that as an example to explain how even a little bug can put me off a game.
DL2, ohh my god was it so fucking trash on PS4, cyberpunk level of trash.
So bad that even know now I have a PS5, I have not even bothered trying to play DL2 on PS5 as I am so put off with the game.
I still never finished cyberpunk too!
I do plan on playing it after the next DLC drops (I bought ultimate edition so already paid for the DLC) and maybe wait for 1 or 2 patches after that then play it.
DL1 was actually mediocre until the following released, so I am hoping DL2 will be in a great position when the next DLC drops, just like it was for DL1.
Thing to keep in mind is techland (and CDPR) knew that the game was a fucking mess but released it anyway. These weren't minor bugs that are hard to spot like that MGSV bug, this is game breaking technical levels of jank.
They "abuse" us, the customers, by ripping us off and selling us a broken product, and IMO we should never support devs like that with our wallet.
We should support the with the pirate bay.

I’m waiting to judge until the upcoming combat, night time, and parkour updates are released. The game wasn’t great at launch but if they can really improve things then I’ll be happy to jump onboard. Better late than never after all and I’d rather play a fun game than miss out because of a at that point irrelevant grudge. I care about how a game is when I sit down to play it not what it might once have been.

Playing DL 2 was so disappointing after all the hype. I do still play 1 on a regular basis though.

Funny enough, I picked this back up after only playing a few hours, just a couple weeks ago knowing nothing about the updates. Felt and looked great. I will say it was before the damage patch, but I still ran into a quest bug where the volatiles got stuck in a doorway with boards and wouldn’t leave at night, keeping me from getting in.
Give it another year and it has potential to be better than the first or at least on par. It’s not a bad game. Just needs to tweaking but this is what techland does best. Look at the first after 7 years of support. I never played this one on launch i got it after a year so it was always pretty good to me. No real bugs

@@xbuttonn4912 people just didn't like being restricted. Personally, I loved it in a parkour game. You start of pretty feeble early game and are unable to take some routes since it's out of your fitness range.
You level up, you have access to new routes, you change up your gameplay and can learn shortcuts to previous paths.
The only downside I see is it's tied to inhibitors rather than passive increases based on experience. But at least the story gives you guaranteed ones to compensate.
@@xbuttonn4912 When the game first came out the stamina drain was a lot lower specially when using the grapple. After the patch it was like my guy was suddenly super unfit!!
You litterally play as a runner so your character would be in great shape and stamina wouldnt really be an issue.

when the game first came out i had 350+ hours within the first month, after i got tired of the game i literally could NOT play the game again but 3 days ago i started playing again and it feels no different from how it did a year ago.

They could have done all that within the first year but instead they chose to add more content and events and a DLC instead of fixing the goddamn game during the first one year now they choose the fix it when Dead Island 2 is just right around corner same with resident evil 4 The Five-Year plan is not going to change they shot themselves in the foot badly

Same here. I found DL2 to be exceptionally annoying. It just didn't have the visceral thrill of DL1. DL1 is the spiritual successor of "Dead Island".

Honestly the presence of choice sorta makes me not like the story as much as the first. I don't like knowing that I would have to play the game again in order to get all endings and content...just sorta too big for its britches. I don't mind the "best to worst" type of endings, but that isnt exactly what this is. I don't care to attempt romances that never actually go anywhere and might as well just kill them off like the first game to get rid of any hope and eventual disappointment (not that romance carries any more than literally .01% weight in a zombie game). Over 200 hours in the first game and about 50 in the second. The game as a whole just doesnt thrill me like the first one did.
I'd be open to having the old grappling hook back as well despite how unrealistic it was...it was just more fun. That and an option to manually enable or disable super dropkicks. It's my game (i mean, not really based on digital ownership laws) but cmon, it would be way more fun to control that kind of stuff yourself (keep it solo or private online only or something like that).
I mean, the game was always worth buying, especially with friends
The coop is still broken though to the point where it crashes your game and sometimes even corrupt your save

Its just oddly off , & that music, i actually tuned it all off , from the beginning, its almost like sound sickness, if there ever was such a thing sort of like motion sickness but sound sickness, and I feel so bad thrashing on this game I really do because these developers have always been awesome especially with the original dying light, but this one is so off , at least my personal experience you know ,

@@wut-se8hz There's some things in DL2 that are better but not many. There's no challenge at night, which was one of the coolest things about the first game. Breaking bones doesn't actually do anything in DL2. There's a lot more copy + paste activities. Etc.
DL2 is still an awesome game but it's missing the magic of the original. Give it another year or two and it will be just as if not better though.

For me the game was boring, the same as the first game. Also bad optimatization hurts a lot, even with DLSS it was just acceptable to play.

Please do not buy this game. Genuinely the worst zombie game I’ve ever touched. Top 10 worst games of any category. Blows my mind the see gameplay this bad released these days.

It's just off this game has been off since release , I bought it on PlayStation 4 I recently upgraded to Xbox series x and I've not bought this game again I actually pre-ordered this back then , ,, the story of the characters are so cringe it's got its height moments but for the most part it's extremely cringe it makes me sick to play because I get so discouraged because I know that these characters I'm going to have to mess with are just so cringed out , I definitely play the original though matter of fact I have been for about a week , awesome hands down dying light original 🤌📰
