- The Founder (2016)
The true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman from Illinois, met Mac (John Carroll Lynch) and Dick McDonald (Nick Offerman), who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. Kroc soon maneuvers himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a multi-billion dollar empire. - Развлечения
Ron swanson without a mustash is 😮😮😮
Right
This was when Tammy 1 showed up.
That's because it's not Ron Swanson now is it!
It’s his brother
He knows more than you
This was a fantastic movie. Keaton nailed it.
Played the part perfectly.
Ray was a real POS.
Awesome movie!!!
If only he’d thought of rubber shoes with holes in them.
I see what you did there
@@joemurphy1461 I didn't get it
@@swanay1 it's Ray Kroc, who did not invent Crocs, the shoes.
Canadian invention... Crocs (nice play on words from you there...) were made in Quebec until they got big
It would never be Ray crocs way.
He couldn’t live with himself after he turned millions of clueless nerds into pussies.
Keaton is brilliant and I say angrily.....very underrated. Comedy, drama.....capable of much 👏
I hear McDowell's is still doing well in Queens.
Only people of a certain age will understand that. 😅😅
I’ve always wanted to try the Big Mick 😂
Let your soul glow guys
😂😂😂
Yes but only one location and 100’s and 100’s served!
That guy was so evil. When i was a kid, everyone said Ray Croc was a genius and invented McDonald's.
Thank goodness the truth finally came out. What a crook.
I agree completely. After watching that movie I hated that guy! the way he left his wife at the end and kicked her to the curb, and left her with nothing enraged me! Because she truly at least in the movie, seemed like a really good, kind, and genuine woman who really loved him and stood by him even when he was a nobody.. And for him to do her dirty like that really made me mad! He May be right about the name an all, but at the same time I feel like he was the start to McDonald’s going way down in quality. He cared about money and quantity over quality. while they cared about quality over quantity. It’s really too bad that they got involved with that snake..🐍
The original commenter and the first comment reply are dumb as s***😂😂😂 the only thing you remotely got right is Croc is probably an evil piece of s*** yeah you're right but at the same time he saw the opportunity and took it those two guys and this is pretty well-known and if you want to try to fall in the Underdog bandwagon that's fine and dandy but they were never going to be more than like a three-star operation that's all they were ever going to be and it's not the fact that they didn't try to be more because they constantly did this scene proves how mad they are that they couldn't make their thing successful but this guy took it and made it instantly more successful than they could have ever imagined
@ecoliesrein790 The dude stole their business and screwed them over. That's evil, and anyone in favor of that is also evil.
Also, that's one of the longest run-on sentences I've ever had the displeasure of reading.
@ecoliesrein790 you're not very bright
@@ecoliesrein790Ray Kroc was PoS and it was literally the mentality that you just espoused that he used/cemented his reputation as said PoS. Every business doesnt have to try an grow into a massive corperation, sometimes ppl are content with a single brick or couple locations. The need for infinite growth of weath errors the soul
He was right, I'd rather eat at a place called McDonald's than a place called Kroc's.
But because of Kroc, you’re eating McDonald’s. Remember, YOU KNOW McDonald’s existence of because of Kroc, a real deal businessman. Not because of the brothers, they lacked on everything Kroc fixed himself
This is a sad story that did the founders wrong.
Depends on point of view. Could be sad, could be happy..
We could say that it was a happy story the original founders got paid more than they ever would have earned on their own most likely and Mcdonalds was raised to the heights it would not have reached if it stayed under previous management and man struggling became proud owner of new corporation.
@@BridgeTROLL777 Yeah but the founders were not after making money in the way that someone just making a business to grow is - they had a passion for it and it was their baby. To them, someone stole their baby and they were forgotten as the true parents of it. McDonald’s website still says their history began with “one man”, Ray Crock, and that he wrote their “first page” in their history
Not a bad take.@@BridgeTROLL777
$2.7 million is worth about $28.4 million in today's money. One brother died 10 years after the sale. The other still had an estate worth $1.8 million after he died.
This is just a highly fictionalized version of events. They clearly chose one guy as the villain, and the other the hero, so it's clear where their bias lies. And I'm not saying they necessarily have an obligation to be accurate, it's a fictional movie after all. But you shouldn't take anything other than dates and events as fact, because it's not.
My favorite actors ❤
God it’s hard to see him without a thick mustache 😂
It's a real estate business.
Exactly. McDonalds make more money off its land than it does off its food sales. Their real estate is worth anywhere between 30 and 40+ billion
@@383corvette1it’s because every franchise rents from them which is why their food cost more than corporate chains
They don't make burgers, they make money.
They aren't in the food buisness, they are in the empire buisness
I enjoyed the movie. I also worked at McDonald's in college. I enjoyed the job. SO the movie was pure nostalgia for me.
Ray Kroc wasn’t lying that name is an icon !!!😊
Identity. Without it, acts are Meaningless.
Because without Identity, you cannot have purpose. Without purpose. Identity is all you have.
woah thats a great quote
Great movie
Ray Kroc
What a LEGEND!!!✊
They seriously underplayed just how many people they killed wheb founding McDonald's
I fell in love with someone watching this movie while otp I’ll never think of anything else
I remember you could go to McDonald’s and get a burger fries and a Coke for pretty cheap now it’s just outrageous
Keaton goes from admirable to ruthless so quickly in this movie...
Howard Krock. I definitely wouldn't eat at a McKrockles. 😂
With a quack quack here
What a cop out answer
Two of the saddest days in 21st century America, Sept 11th, and Jan 6th.
Well right now that's the only thing keeping it open
The price increases coupled with the low quality and service have taken its toll
A good name can only go so far
Unfortunately, McDonald's isn't what it used to be 30 years ago
its exactly the same as it was 30 years ago lol
the difference is you were a kid 30 years ago
@@HughMungus4655 that is absolutely false. McDonalds has tanked in quality in just the last 10 years, nearly as much as they had in the 20 years prior to that.
@@Annonymous0283745this movie literally shows why it tanked. Because people like him who just wanted to make money existed
Yup. the fries 🍟
@@Annonymous0283745 its the same garbage its always been, its just unreasonably expensive now
Essentially thats what McDonald's became, just a name.
90% are franchise, all the food sold is through mcd, while still owning the property the stores rest on.
F**k yeah its a Glorious name.
It is a damn good name
He became a realtor also was a big money maker.
Keep your eye on World Dryer Corp....
Just had McDonalds. Don’t know who to thank. 😂
Great movie, not completely accurate, but it was good!
We see those two arches and I know Ole Mickey Dee is gonna take care of me
Listen to Boom Like That by Mark Knopfler . It's about Ray
Old *who* had a farm?
Of course its in the name, every kid who grew up in a normal household, all their life heard a nersery song that had The McDondalds brand Right in it.
I watched this I swore he had a mustache till I read the comments
The irl guy ends up stealing the company and ends their partnership with the brothers via a handshake but the handshake could never be proven in court so the brothers didn’t get a dime off McDonald’s
GOODWILL Ron
The fact that this guy didn't get in prison or Suttn
Maccas in Australia 🇦🇺
A good name is just a part of the equation. McDonald's isn't a good name. However, it's got a reputation behind it.
Nothing sounds more American than a Scottish name.
I didnt even recognize who it was until halfway through the video
And now the empire is about to fall because people can’t afford to pay $12.99 for a tiny combo meal.
Such a sad movie
Fun Fact. In real life Ray Kroc actually did steal the concept and screwed the actual inventors
Dudes right something about mcds just tastes different, we all know its garbage but we all have that one item whatever it is that sometimes we just have to eat
Taste is good when it was cheap. its not worth the Price they are asking.
@frosty848 you're right but still something about it makes us all get it atleast once a month or when them coupons hit the mail
Go to a normal pub, and get a pot and a Parma
*DUKE SILVER*
I thought he was going to say something about the logo
Nick Offerman: I don't know, I feel like the glasses are a little narrow...
Stylist: Silence! Assistant, get rid of these. Bring me the glasses that are barely wider than his eyeballs. That'll work. Bah ha ha...
if i were rich i would start Armpit Burgers, as a social experiment. called that... to see what will happen :)
And now McDonalds is starting to crumble with greed and relentlessness vs better quality food chains. Keep your business small, simple and perfect the basics
McDonald doesn’t forget n neither will we
now it means meat from a warmer, poorly made food, little customer service, and to-go orders you have to check before leaving.
And now its a giant pile of steaming refuse.
Couldn't someone else named McDonald's just make another restaurant back then?
You know how many Tony's pizza shops there are?
Shaw shank actor
He did steal it, just in a different way
I really thought he was about to say something intelligent… and then he said it was the name. 😢
Ok this just feels wrong. Who has done this to Ron?
Not anymore
He just straight ran up in them.
This kind of atlas shrugged behavior is applauded by many here in America. There was a time when it was looked at as disgusting
A name means a lot, google your name
Also the thing about mcdonalds is its all uniform. Everything tastes the same from Seattle mcdonalds to new jersey mcdonalds to Iraq mcdonalds. They have that down to a science. Ppl might want fresh potatoes for their fries like in n out. God bless em. But mcdonalds makes sure everything is the same.
As someone who eats more McDonald's than should. The same location can taste wildly different depending on who is working and when you go. I've had the best McDonald's fries and worst McDonald's fries from the same McDonald's
This is just outright wrong. Mcdonalds in europe tastes much better than here in the usa and has different (localized) menu items. I made it a point to not eat at "american" fast food joints when i was living in italy and traveling across europe, but there were times where i didnt have a choice and i can guarantee you, a mickey D's in the states is very different from international locations. I will say that their fries are consistent across the board, but not the beef nor sandwiches.
It's called quality as he explains it in the movie When one goes there and puts in a order there is a certain standard of quality and expectation on knowing exactly what you are getting no matter where or when
Well, the Big Mac in Beijing was a little different. Maybe there are regional differences.
@@wethepplwhorblackerthanblu6442 thats not quality, thats called consistency.

Wow McDs has fallen so far. Gross fries... ice cream machine always broken. I miss the old days when they used Kangaroo meat.
before the name became as popular as hitler.
Supreme greed
Sad, Its like superman without his powers.
Is it Teddy Roosevelt wo mustache?
great movie
ray croc is a pos!
Good God. What happened to you Ron??
Crock was a crook
He did steal it, that one percent would be worth billions now
He bought it, actually. The movie makes it look like a sad story, but a deal is a deal.
Burger King is better...
Must have run out of money
Such bs
Why do movies get made about topics this stupid?
Capitalism propaganda. Our society is run by "great men" or so the movies would have you believe. The movies paint them out to be innovative or savvy, when in reality their success is just a measure of how cut throat and ruthless they were in fucking over customers and business partners. That's what +90% of biopics are, when it's not Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg then it's the politicians whose pockets they line in order to pass favorable laws for them. Society works and civilization is fine, don't mind the handful of enterprises that own every facet of your life. If you apply yourself you can be really successful too!
McDonalds is bland crap
I love how they show the greed and you people think this company cares about you in real life. Smh how sad
