AFSPA is still imposed in the hills as well as allso some parts of the plain areas. but why central arm forces & AR not able to control kuki militants attacking from AFSPA areas ? Imposing again in a few sarounding Imphal area is not going to bring solution of the present crisis... unlawful act of violence is from demanding side. as known to all . Arm forces to act in the AFSPA areas or, to discuss on the table with GOI will be the solution I suppose. .. !

The Colonel being the supporter of the Indian Army and he belongs to the family of the Indian Army he wanted to impose AFSPA on Manipur. Many of my family and friends are serving the Indian Army, Navy and Airforce. I have a lot of respect for their contributions to the country. However I am totally against AFSPA. AFSPA must be completely revoked from our country. It was imposed since the 11th of September 1958. It has been removed only within the limits of some police stations. However AFSPA is still imposed in a major part of Manipur. If any of the so-called revolutionary or separatists or terrorists movement could not stop by imposing AFSPA since the last 65 years. What is the point of imposing AFSPA in Manipur? AFSPA is still imposed till today where all the major poppy cultivation areas of Manipur. There are many poppy cultivation areas around the 5 kilometres radius of Assam Rifles Camp. AFSPA is still imposed in that area. But why haven't they exposed them to the national media for the last 10 to 20 years? AFSPA is a reincarnation of the British-era legislation that was enacted to quell the protests during the Quit India movement. (1) It has been dubbed as a license to kill. The main criticism of the Act is directed against the provisions of Section 4, which gives the armed forces the power to open fire and even cause death, if prohibitory orders are violated. (2) The people of Manipur have witnessed security forces of having destroyed homes merely on the suspicion that insurgents were hiding there. They point out that Section 4 empowers the armed forces to arrest citizens without warrant and keep them in custody for several days. (3) There are several instances where the armed forces have been found to be misusing the oppressive powers given by the Act like fake encounters, sexually exploiting the women in disturbed areas. What is more disturbing is the fact that the armed forces escape with impunity for their actions since legal suits cannot be filled against them as per the Act. Thus AFSPA clearly violates human rights. (4) AFSPA has failed to contain terrorism and restore normalcy in disturbed areas, as the number of armed groups has gone up after the Act was established.
Col Sab I lived more than half a century in North East, you have highlighted the real issue in the current conflict without being biased or bigoted. Salute to you for letting people understand the real issues.

Sir is right. I have worked in Delhi NCR and met many NE people. They are very friendly but these Dilliwallas treat them with utter contempt. They often complain about that.
Not everyone is like that. But what happens is some of them are really awkward. And they all look alike despite of being from different communities of NE. That's why they are all clubbed together. So it is better they prove their worth by their behaviour. And expecting any kind of respect on Delhi roads and buses is a distant dream.

It's just northeastern part doesn't have money or investment, yet they outclass any state in terms of living standards and public etiquette. On the other hand, here people have everything yet they do stupid things in the name of culture.
Manipuris are extremely unreliable leaving exceptions. I have had both types as friends.
Delhites are so entitled that they treat everyone rudely. Sorry to say but Delhi probably has the rudest people in the country. The only thing is they are rude to everyone even each other.
